Qifrey and Olly stepped out of the lock-air windowway.
“This one, it has a connection,” Olruggio yelled out, “We need a position and a heading.”
Olruggio stepped back in through and made a fire on the moons surface, as big a flame as he could produce. The observatory they had set up made note of the flames position on the moon and then provided them with the info of what star sign they had to follow. They would make more fires on their travels, making sure they were still on course. but for now they simply had to get going, so each Qifrey and Olly picked up two windowways and off they were.
Qifrey touched his feet together, the ring on his sylph shoes closes. The wind rushes through the air bubble they made but nothing happens. He can’t take off, he just pushes the air in their air bubble to the ground.
“What? Why can’t I? Oh. Oh no.”
“Sylph shoes don't work in a vacuum. We should’ve thought of that. Now what?”
“I think i can solve that. If i just expand the air bubble to reach the ground at all times, we should be able to fly with our sylph shoes but eventually we would probably need something better.”
Qifrey adjusts the spell and they lift off over the cooled lava Ocean they had started in.
“You know, we are the first people ever to see this. I’d be a shame to just fly straight ahead without looking at anything. I mean, we are the first to see that crater right there and those rocks. Let’s fly lower at least.”
Qifrey and Olly descended to only a few metres off the ground, their sylph shoes throwing lunar dust into the air. They flew over ground slowly and steadily. Eventually the hard lava rock gave way to an area covered in long stripes, all leading to a central crater. When they flew over it they saw another spell, this one Qifrey recognised as a water spell, with maybe some kind of circling/rewind properties. Also a state which was likely large amounts of water suspended in air, he wasn’t however really sure about that.
He and Olruggio decided to make rest on the Crater wall, they had no Idea how far it still was or how far they had yet to go. They decided then and there to make another fire and to send note of the needed modifications to sylph shoes back to the great hall. In turn they got the Information, that they had made roughly one sixth of the trip. Once they had eaten something and gotten their new, improved heading, they once again started flying, now following the lines and craters going away from the large spell. As they travelled, they came along a multitude of smaller spells, ones where neither Qifrey nor Olruggio were even sure could reach earth. However, they did not stop at any other spells. Even though, they did end up marking exactly where they had been on a map.
They had just hovered over a small crater, and noted it’s position.
“Come on Qifrey, we have to reach the Tide crater before the earthquakes and mass extinctions hit.”
“Yes, sure Olruggio.” They picked up speed once more, leaving the crater behind them rapidly.
“You know, studying this place will take lifetimes. Think of the future, you could even built ateliers here, protected by a large version of the water-barrier-air-bubble-spell. Hell, think of what Alaira would say if you told her you would set your atelier up This remotely. I can already hear it:” he made what can only be called a terribly high pitched and incapable Alaira impression, ‘Oh Qifrey, why are you not staying at the great hall, everything you could need is here.’
“Please, Olly she just wants what’s best for us. No problem with that.”
Just as he uttered the words, a flash of light appeared, followed by limbs hitting Qifrey and Olly in the Face. Bright blue, the colour of his Apprentice’s robes smeared through their vision. along with the pink, green, blue and black of their hair.
“AHHHH—” The sound ended when the girls fell through the side of the water bubble and into the vacuum of space.
Qifrey looked down and immediately dove after the girls, managing to catch Tetia and Richeh who were the most conscious and alive looking before the ground. He swiftly cast another water bubble around them, as he had left Olruggio’s water bubble, cutting off all sound from travelling between them.
The watchful eye, needing little communication however also dove for the girls instantaneously. he managed to catch Agott quickly enough that she had still remained conscious, although she was gasping for air and her eyes burned along with the rest of her body, where some of the liquids had started boiling off.
Coco landed in a pool of water conjured by Qifrey to serve as a soft landing place and a momentary pressure vessel. She still hit the ground, hard.
Qifrey and Olly set down just outside the water pool, Qifrey left the Girls in Olly’s Air bubble and gathered Coco from within the water. Finding her covered in bruises, scratches and most horrifyingly blood, dripping from the back of her head.
“Olruggio, she has to be gotten to a hospital, all of them have to.”
They watched as the liquids inside her condensed and her body slowly shrank back to her usual size.
Agott dropped to the ground, her back as well as the exposure to the vacuum of space had taken their toll. Tetia and Richeh dropped to their knees, both from weakness as well as to stabilise their friends heads. Once Richeh lifted up Agott’s head and checked she was breathing Agott started to open her eyes. Tetia did not have the same luck with Coco, who had been clean out before she fell a hundred meters through empty space.
Everything after that was a blur for each of the girls, none of which would ever really remember how it happened, but in the next thirty or so seconds Olruggio and Qifrey dragged them through two window ways and directly into a Hospital. Once they were cared for the medical staff yelled something about not knowing children would be involved and threw Qifrey, Olruggio and all other witches out of the hospital for being negligent at least and maybe actively responsible for the wounds of the girls.
