Chapter Text
Chap 5
The next morning, Blake woke up with only one thought repeating in his head.
‘Roswo likes me’
Blake stared at the ceiling, repeating the words back to himself. He buried his head into his pillows as he groaned to himself.
Yesterday’s memories played back to him as toothpaste dripped down his chin. Roswo kissing him so gently. Roswo finally admitting his feelings back to Blake, and Blake admitting he liked him back.
The bathroom fan buzzed lightly as background noise for his thoughts. He had spent weeks trying to burry any romantic feelings towards Roswo. He convinced himself that Roswo was only being friendly for so long. Now he had no excuse for his feelings.
Blake opened his locker, he had almost convinced himself to act completely normal. After all, it was only Roswo. Roswo.
The name rang in his head.
He would’ve never thought something like this could happen to him. He was just a regular student. He didn’t do much around the school, he wasn’t known. He was just an aspiring builder, who doodled designs in his note. Yet Roswo still loved him.
“Morning”
Blake flinched at the sound, disrupting his train of thought.
He looked back to spot where the voice came from. He already knew who it was.
He looked back to meet white eyes. Roswo leaned back against the locker next to Blake’s.
“Did you sleep well?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s good.”
Blake held his books, grabbing each coming out of his locker. He continued to speak,
“Did you?”
“Nah”
Blake dropped his attention from his locker.
“How so?”
“I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
Roswo smiled sheepishly, watching as Blake’s face turned a bright shade of red.
“You can’t say things like that first thing in the morning…”
Roswo nodded, although, Blake knew Roswo would continue his shenanigans, no matter what time.
Roswo reached out, grabbing Blake’s hand. Their fingers intertwined with eachother. This time Blake didn’t pull away, instead let he held Roswo’s hand tighter.
A few students glanced while walking by in the morning hallways. Blake noticed the stares he was receiving. It was hard to ignore people whispering and looking straight at them. He felt nervous, after-all people still believed Scliffer and Roswo were together.
“Roswo… People are looking”
“I know”
“What if they start talking?”
“They always talk.”
Blake looked at him and frowned. Watching to see if he could find any worry on Roswo’s face.
“You’re not very reassuring.”
Roswo squeezed his hand tightly.
“Let them watch.”
Blake looked at him, his expression blank yet calming. It made Blake feel less anxious about the people watching, as if the tension had been softened. He smiled childishly, thinking about Roswo’s face.
“…Okay.”
Another voice emerged from the crowd of people.
“Well, well, well.”
Blake watched the crowd, looking for the voice.
A man with a bright yellow jacket and unbrushed hair tumbled through the crowd.
It was Wykull.
“Not boyfriends, huh?”
Blake sighed to himself, rubbing his face temples.
“We talked last night… And now we’re dating.”
Wykull looked at their intertwined fingers, then at Roswo, and back at Blake. He giggled to himself, his eyes creasing.
“Congratulations for finally using your brain.”
Wykull glanced up at Roswo.
‘Thank you.’ He mouthed towards Roswo without making any sound.
For the rest of the day, things felt the same. They still joked, talked and argued over small things. Nothing felt wrong, it was just as it was meant to be.
There was only one small difference this time.
Blake finally understood the warmth feeling buried in his chest. He understood the clues Roswo gave him without wondering what he was trying to say.
“I think I’ll be keeping him, Scliffer.” Blake giggled to himself.
This time, Blake knew he won.
Because they weren’t just friends anymore.
They were something more.
