The bight green light slowly dimmed till hal could actually look around without feeling like he was starting into the sun. What's on his face hal reached up and picked at the mask that was practically glued on, wait what's on him, looking down he's wearing a green black and white with a symbol on his cheast and it looks like he's wear and green leotard over a lack bodysuit looking down at his white gloved hand was the ring the alien was wearing. Hal snaps his head over to him so face he might whiplash, hal dropped to his side he was still breathing but it was shallow, looking around all hal could see was dessert he didn't even know where his plane was none the less where he was how could he get him help in the dessert. Wait how was hal gonna get him help in general pink men in green glowing clothes is not ignored 'oh hi hospital this guy is hurt bad also he's and alien who gave me a magic ring that "chose me" anyway help him despite the fact he has a completely different biology that your used to and well be on are our way, back to his crash spaceship oh and don't tell the government' Yeah that's not happening, hal felt a hand grab his arm, looking back at abin sur who was trying to say something. Deep shallow breaths then 'O, o Oa, yo-you need' his breath was broken into wheezing hal grabbed his hand unsure what else to that try to offer comfort 'You need, to- to get to oa they'll , ex-expin it to you"
"What's Oa?"
"Ring" was the last weak words before his eyes shut, hal had no idea how to check if he was dead so he just lifted his and to abin sur's mouth. No breath. Hal lowered abin sur down laying him flat on his back hql slowly stood up half expecting him to shoot up.
Should he bury him? Would someone come looking for him? What if that's something horrible for his species? Hal kicked at the dirt under him, it's to dry to dig with a shoved anyway. the ring glowed when hal thought about the object but he was to buy trying to figure out where he was to notice. He thought back to when he was taken form his ship, he was about 10 miles for ferris and he thinks some of the bigger mountains in the far distance he recognizes but it would take at least three day to get to them.
"What am I gonna do" hal mourned out load to himself.
"Report to Oa"
Hal wants it to be know he did not jump a foot in the air at the voice suddenly very close, hal did a 180 trying to find any origin of the robotic voice, taking a breath hal tried to sound as sure intimidating as he could with his voice.
"Who's there?!" Hal shouted trying to seem bigger.
"Hello. Hal. Jordan. Green lantern of sector 2814. Please report to oa for training."
Hal looked down, the ring was talking.
"What's oa?" was all hal could articulate.
"Oa home of the green lantern corp and where your training will be held."
"What's a green lantern?"
"Green lanterns are the protectors of the universe beings who can over come great fear and harness their will power to use their rings."
Hal blinked.
"I'm a.." hal shot a look at the uniform agin. "A green lantern now?."
"Yes, hal jordan you have the ability to over come great fear welcome to the green lantern Corp." The ring robotic voice actually takes the smallest bit of emotion at the line.
Okay hals a green lantern now he guessed, hal looked over a the corpse of abin sur, " Hey ring?"
"Yes"
"What do I do with him, the guy who used to wear you, abin sur?"
"The corp will deal with his body"
Okay thats was ominous Hal looked back at the ring.
"What else can you do ring?"
"I can help you make constructs with your willpower"
"...What?"
"Image something and picture it being made"
Hal thought for a second before closing his eyes and things and planes, yeah how original, its not even any real type just a plane, a green glow fills his vision as he opens his eyes and above him is a fighter jet like the ones he flew in the airforce, the bight green plane felt real when he reached out and touched of the landing wheels. Hal stood back before lifting the ring and tried to make it fly within a second it was high in the air doing tricks hal would dream of doing but knew if he tried he would never be allowed near a plane like that agin, he was flying a plane without even being in it. Hal landed it right in front of himself before thinking of it disappearing and it slow fizzled away.
"Hey ring how do a get to Oa anyway." Hal asked still thing of the plane he flew without touching it.
"I will take you."
"How?" A green layer cover his whole body, before hal could ask what it was his feet left the ground.
"Am I Flying!?"
"Yes with the ring any green lantern can fly" the cold voiced none of excitement of hal who was at least 5 feet off the ground.
Hal turned and lunged up, an dhe flew higher and then he started flying left and right, he had figured everything he could do while flying, oh god hal was,flying without a plane this is awesome. Hal slowed down and floated in the air tiny pane 'constructs' ,that was what the ring called them right?, zoomed around him while hal took in the wind, hal loves flying he had with a plane but it can beat flying simply without anything but you doing it. Hal's eyes wandered down back to the crashed ship, his smile dropped as he looked at it, this ring chose him? Why yeah he fearless but he can think of a number of reasons that's not a good thing, he almost got hit by a car a few times when he was young because he felt no fear running head first after a ball into the roa, come on he can bearly keep a relationship with Carol for more than a few months how is he supposed to be a protector of the universe. Hal looked up now knowing that there was life far from earth. He took a deep breath in, pushing through his nose.
"Ring" it glows waiting
"Take me to Oa"
The almost blinding light returns and he shots up in to atmosphere. The next morning people living close to the airfield say they saw a green shooting star and it looked like it was going up.
