Chapter Text
Alfred did it. He was finally apart of the military He was free from his parents. From that torture. Unfortunately he wasn't free from hatred. Him being gay slipped out. this turned into a whole new hell. One maybe worse than his last one. Everyday he'd get called slurs, beat, humiliated almost every day. This was hell. "Hey faggot boy" One of Alfred's fellow soldiers teased. Alfred didn't care to respond. If he did it probably just make this torture worse. He was used to this hatred. he experienced it since he could talk. But feeling this way at a place that was supposed to bring freedom and escape stung extra hard. He thought for a moment. Maybe this was the wrong decision maybe Matthew was right. Those thoughts left though. No he can't just give up. He'll get his freedom.
The days go by. It seems to get worse. He tries to go through this. To push through. But it got hard. He never felt safe. Everyday he has to worry about getting beat or dying from war. Was this worth the pain. Worth the trauma?
One day he made the decision to write to Matthew. Alfred promised to write and he plans on keeping that promise. He finally got a little time to write.
"dear Matthew. The military does kinda suck. Turns out they kinda hate gay people. But it's not too bad. I'm really used to it. Thanks dad. Sometimes I get beat. But I'm sure dad did wayyy worse. Well on that note. Hows mom and dad? Still terrible? probably. I hope they're not ganging up on you too bad. Haha well. Sorry this is short. I'm kinda busy all the time. Well hope life is treating you well when you get this your big bro (By five seconds) Alfred. freedom Jones' He got it sent out. He hopes Matthew gets the letter. Well he has to get back to it.
one day. Alfred experiences something. This experience changed his thoughts greatly. He was raiding homes in Afghanistan. It wasn't a big deal. Until he got to one home. This family lashed out though. "So our baby that was killed by your troops is a terrorist?!" the dad screamed.
"What no...." Alfred spoke. He didn't know what to do.
"Then why did your troops who say they kill terrorists murder my baby girl!" Alfred couldn't respond to that. How could he. How could he admit the country he loved so dearly. He raised his gun and shot.
He killed a innocent family. He was a horrible person. America was horrible, the army is horrible. He shouldn't have done this. He should've just suffered at home. These are innocent people. They haven't done anything.
After the terrible incident Alfred has been thinking. This sucks. He shouldn't have joined the military. Why. He feels awful everyday. It wasn't worth it. It's not worth leaving Matthew, or getting paid well or being able to go to college. America was terrible. Why did he decide to join the miltary. Why did he let himself go through this torture.
One day he made the decision to write Matthew about these troubles. He needed out. He needed to let Matthew know he was write. Who knows if he'll last until the war ends.
He grabbed a pen and began writing....
