Chapter Text
Finally, Atsushi couldn't help but think gleefully, as she snuggled with her boyfriend in the tatami mat.
While it was risky for Akutagawa to even see the house, the two had never cared much (or at least Akutagawa hadn't) for what people thought.
"Comfortable?" Akutagawa asked, as he pulled the blanket over them.
"Very much. What about you?" Atsushi sighed out into Akutagawa's chest.
Akutagawa pulled her closer.
"Despite what you think, I am comfortable. It's nothing much of a problem." Akutagawa said, nonchalantly.
"I'm glad." Atsushi said, feeling sleepy.
And under the ceiling of the dorm, they slept. All too well.
Atsushi felt warm, for some reason and when she tiredly opened her eyes, she found that she was still sleeping into Akutagawa's chest.
She opened her eyes in a panic, but Akutagawa, who was a light sleeper, already opened his and got up.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you have gone by now?" Atsushi asked, worried.
Akutagawa rubbed his hair. "No...didn't really feel like it." He said, shortly.
Atsushi narrowed her eyes. "And do you want someone to see that you're sleeping inside my room? That's like asking for trouble. You should be glad that Kyouka-chan got a room of her own."
Akutagawa looked disgruntled. "What am I, a child? I can look after myself." He said, exasperated.
Atsushi shook her head, her rubber band flying off as it did. "No! I'm saying...I don't want you to be caught." She said, quietly.
Akutagawa looked like he wanted to say something but he seemed to have decided better against it.
"Ryuunosuke?" Atsushi asked, flatly.
Akutagawa scowled. "Don't."
"I will if you don't tell me why the heck you didn't just go off as quickly as possible." Atsushi said, firmly.
Akutagawa muttered something.
"Speak up, please." Atsushi said, narrowing her eyes.
"I said, I fell asleep before I could. You weren't exactly uncomfortable." Akutagawa said, not facing her.
Atsushi smiled slightly as her face blushed pleasantly. Cheesy boyfriend.
"Well, count yourself lucky. We've got to go for work, remember?"
Akutagawa nodded as he got up on one knee and then stood up. "True."
Atsushi looked at the wall clock. "Good thing it's only seven. How are you gonna get to your house?"
Akutagawa looked like he hadn't thought about it and Atsushi sighed.
"Men. You can use my spare toothbrush, and use the shower." Atsushi said, tiredly.
Akutagawa just nodded.
"I'll ask Gin-chan if she can get you your work clothes." Atsushi said, taking her phone from the table.
Akutagawa looked awkward. "...Thanks."
Atsushi couldn't control her laughter, seeing her usually assertive boyfriend this awkward, as she smiled fondly. "No problem. Get ready."
Akutagawa had to thank his lucky stars he wasn't late.
Otherwise he couldn't have dealt with the hounding of why, how, for what he was late.
Akutagawa felt a bit guilty and he took out his phone, texting a certain set of words.
Atsushi was just relieved she managed to get into the Agency in record time otherwise Kunikida would have snapped her head off.
She blinked as her phone beeped, and she took out her phone and checked who it was from.
You have 1 text from: Lawnmower
When Akutagawa told her not to change his contact name in case someone nosy checked through it, Atsushi had felt immensely guilty until he casually admitted that he had enlisted her as Were-Tigress when he first got her number.
Atsushi shook her head and checked the text.
"Thanks a lot. For...helping me out."
Atsushi smiled tenderly seeing the text and couldn't help herself from giggling at it.
She could almost envision the awkward, blank expression on her boyfriend's face as he typed it out.
"What's got you in such a good mood? That your boyfriend?" Lucy asked, raising an eyebrow.
Lucy had joined the Agency at Atsushi's bequest a year ago.
Little did Atsushi know, she thought bitterly now, Lucy had been nothing short of merciless in her teasing.
Atsushi went as red as her friend's hair.
"Lucy-chan!"
Lucy only cackled.
Akutagawa blinked as he read the text that followed a few minutes later.
Come on no thanks needed! ^^
Akutagawa felt his lips quirk into a corner before he hurriedly smothered it, in case someone should see it.
Atsushi never changed.
And so won't the insinuations that came up, but as long as he got to bear it with the woman who had been a timid girl, that was all right.
After all, it was human to insinuate.
And Akutagawa knew it best.
