Chapter Text

After school, A-na had basketball practice. When she got back to the dorm, Yuha was studying. Again.

“Do you ever take breaks?” A-na asked, sitting down beside her.

“Of course I take breaks.” Yuha replied, not even looking up from her book.

“Then take a break now and come watch a movie with me.”

Yuha looked at her.

“Now? But I have a test…”

“We all do. Please? Just for, like, 2 hours.”

Yuha looked down at the book in her hand, and A-na started getting impatient.

“Come onnnn.” The younger girl whined.

“Just a few more minutes?”

“How long have you been studying?”

“Since I got home…”

“Yuha it’s 7pm! Almost four hours?” A-na took the book from her.

“Hey! That’s mine!” Yuha stood up and tried to get it back, but A-na was taller and held it just out of reach.

A-na smirked.

“I’ll give it back, but only if you promise to watch a movie with me. Now.”

Yuha crossed her arms, but couldn’t help a small smile from forming.

“Fine. Now give it back.”

A-na put the book down on the desk, grabbed Yuha’s sleeve, and dragged her over to the couch.

A-na chose a dumb movie.

Halfway in, A-na started complaining.

“Why would she do that? That is literally the dumbest decision she could’ve made.”

“A-na, you picked the movie.”

“I know. I can still criticize it.”

Yuha laughed softly. A-na smiled.

“I know, I’m so funny.” A-na bragged, not even paying attention to the movie.

“Pay attention to the movie, dork.” Yuha laughed.

“Fine, fine.” A-na turned to the movie, but still wasn’t paying attention. She was thinking of Yuha’s laugh she rarely got to hear.

A-na glanced at her again.

Yuha noticed.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“You keep looking at me.”

“Do I?”

“Yes.”

A-na quickly turned back toward the TV.

“Just watch the movie. I’m quizzing you on it later, to see if you were paying attention.”

Yuha raised an eyebrow, but turned back too.

“Okay. Who was the guy that showed up halfway through?”

“…”

“A-na?”

“Uh… why?”

“You said you were quizzing me.”

“Exactly. I was gonna quiz you, not you quiz me.”

“You don’t even know his name, do you?”

“…No.”

“How would you quiz me if you don’t even know anything about the movie, huh?” Yuha teased.

“I was watching!”

“You were looking at me.”

A-na froze.

“I was not.”

“You literally just admitted you weren’t watching the movie.”

“That doesn’t mean I was looking at you!”

Yuha smiled.

“Then what were you looking at?”

“The… TV.”

“The TV is over there.”

“I know.”

“And I’m over here.”

“I know that too.”

A-na went quiet.

Yuha raised an eyebrow.

“Exactly.”

“Shut up.”

Yuha laughed again.

A-na looked away.

“Stop doing that…”

“Doing what?”

“Being cute…”

Yuha blinked.

“…What?”

A-na’s eyes widened.

“Nothing.”

“No, you said something.”

“I said nothing.”

“You literally just called me cute.”

“I did not.”

“You did.”

A-na grabbed a pillow and covered her face.

“Can we just watch the movie?”

Yuha stared at her for a moment before smiling.

“Okay.”

“…Good.”

A-na looked at the tv.

Yuha was still smiling.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

Before A-na could get up to answer the door, it opens, and Stella came in.

“Guys I’m like bored to death.. OOH WHAT MOVIE ARE YOU WATCHING? CAN I JOIN?” She sits down without waiting for an answer.

“Uh… sure.” Yuha says quietly.

A-na turned back toward the movie, trying to act normal.

A few minutes passed.

Yuha watched the screen quietly.

A-na, however, kept glancing at her.

Stella noticed.

She looked at A-na.

Then at Yuha.

Then back at A-na.

“…A-na.”

“Hm?”

“Can you keep your eyes off Yuha for, like, one second?”

A-na froze.

Yuha looked over, confused.

“What?”

“Nothing,” Stella said, trying not to laugh.

“No, what did you say?”

“I said you’re staring.”

“I am NOT.”

Yuha glanced between them.

“Were you staring at me?”

“No.”

“You were,” Stella said.

“STELLA.”

Yuha just blinked.

“Why were you staring at me?”

A-na grabbed the pillow from before and shoved it against her face.

“Can we please just watch the movie?”

Stella snorted.

“Sure, sure.”

~~

Stella leaved after the movie ended.

Yuha looked at her desk.

“A-na.”

“Yes?”

“Study with me.”

“Okay. But not for too long, it’s 9pm.”

Yuha nodded and grabbed her books.

The two girls sat beside each other at the desk.

For a while, everything was quiet.

Yuha was completely focused on her notes.

A-na, however, wasn’t.

She stared at her textbook for a few seconds before glancing at Yuha.

Yuha was writing something down, completely unaware.

A-na looked back at her own book.

She tried to read the same sentence again.

Then again.

She still couldn’t remember what it said.

She glanced at Yuha once more.

Why was she so distracting?

“A-na?”

“Hm?”

“You’ve been staring at the same page for five minutes.”

A-na blinked.

“I have?”

“Yes.”

“Oh.”

Yuha tilted her head.

“Are you tired?”

“No.”

“Then what’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

Yuha narrowed her eyes slightly.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.”

A-na looked back down at her book.

She tried to focus.

She really did.

But a few seconds later, her eyes wandered back toward Yuha.

Yuha caught her this time.

“Again?”

A-na immediately looked away.

“I wasn’t looking at you.”

“You were.”

“I was looking at your notes.”

“My notes are upside down.”

A-na looked down.

“…Oh.”

Yuha laughed.

A-na groaned and covered her face.

“I’m tired.”

“You said you weren’t.”

“I changed my mind.”

A-na started complaining to hide the fact she was staring at Yuha.

“Why do you study so much…” she whined. “It’s so boringggg.”

“I study so I can get good grades, unlike you.”

“Hey! I have A/B average!”

“And I have all A’s.”

“Okay, nerd.”

“I’m not a nerd.”

“You study for four hours a day!”

“That doesn’t make me a nerd.”

“Then what does?”

“…I don’t know.”

“Exactly. Nerd.”

“…Whatever.”

“No comeback? Might as well admit you’re a nerd.”

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because.”

“Why?”

“Let me study. You should too.”

A-na sighed dramatically.

“Fine, I’ll study.”

She looked down at the paper on the table in front of her.

“This is hard…” A-na muttered.

“What, looking at that paper? I know, it’s so hard to look at a paper.” Yuha teased.

“Shut up. I’m not used to studying.”

“Clearly.”

“I don’t even know where to start.”

Yuha sighed and moved her book closer.

“Okay. What are you confused about?”

A-na pointed at the page.

“…All of it.”

“A-na.”

“What? It’s true.”

Yuha looked over the questions.

“Okay, start with this one.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s the easiest.”

“How do you know?”

“Because I can read.”

A-na stared at her.

“You’re so mean.”

“You called me a nerd five minutes ago.”

“And I stand by it.”

Yuha rolled her eyes, but smiled as she started explaining the question.

~~

Yuha fell asleep studying.

“Yuha? Did you actually fall asleep-“

A-na stops talking when she sees how peaceful Yuha looked, head resting on her arms, hand still lightly gripping her pencil.

“You really are a nerd…” A-na whispers.

Usually, A-na would tease Yuha until she had no choice but to get up and go to bed. But this time… she was being gentle.

She took the pencil from Yuha’s hand, setting it on the desk. She then got a blanket and draped it over Yuha.

A-na sat back down.

She looked at Yuha again.

Her heart felt weird.

Not bad.

Just… warm.

She stared at Yuha for another few seconds.

Then it hit her.

She liked Yuha.

She actually liked Yuha.

A-na’s eyes widened.

“Oh.”

She covered her face with both hands.

“Oh no.”

The next day was a Saturday, so that means… group hangout day!

That morning, A-na woke up before Yuha this time.

A-na was already up making breakfast when she heard Yuha stirring.

“A-na?”

“Yes?”

“You’re up this early?”

“Mhm.”

“On a Saturday?”

“I forgot to turn off my alarm for today…”

Yuha yawned and walked into the kitchen.

*cute*

“What are you making?” Yuha asked, sitting down at the table.

“Pancakes.”

“You know how to make pancakes?”

“Of course I do.”

“You didn’t know how to work the coffee machine.”

“..,That’s different.”

Yuha smiled.

“Sure.”

“Don’t judge me.”

“I’m not.”

“You are.”

“Maybe a little.”

A-na rolled her eyes, but smiled.

Yuha still looked half asleep. Cute.

A-na put a plate in front of her.

“Here.”

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.”

Yuha took a bite.

“These are actually good.”

A-na looked offended.

“Actually?”

“I wasn’t sure you could cook.”

“Wow.”

Yuha laughed.

A-na smiled.

She liked hearing that laugh.

“When are we supposed to meet them?” Yuha asked.

“Uh, around noon I think.”

“It’s 10am… what should we do before we go?”

“Uh probably get ready. We’re both still in pajamas.”

“Oh. Right.”

The two girls got ready, and by 11am, they were bored again.

“Ughhh I hate waitinggg.” A-na whined, throwing herself onto the couch.

A-na suddenly sat up.

“Wait. Yuha. You can draw me.”

Yuha hesitated.

“Oh, uh… okay.”

Yuha and A-na sat down, and Yuha got paper and pencil.

“You have to stay still, though.” Yuha said. “I don’t know if you could do that, haha.”

“I can stay still!”

“Okay, then do it.”

Halfway through, A-na starts complaining.

“Are you done yet? How much longer?”

“Be patient, A-na.”

“You’re taking so longggg.” A-na whined.

“I’m almost done, calm down.”

“Hurryyyy.”

A-na tried to peek at it.

Yuha covered it with her hand.

“No peeking!” Yuha scolded. “It’s a surprise.”

“Fine fine.”

Yuha finally finished the drawing.

“Are you done? Can I see?”

“Mhm. Here.”

A-na took the paper.

“Woah. Is this really how you see me?”

“Mhm.”

“You made me prettier than I actually am.”

“No, you look like that.”

“Do I?”

“Yes.”

A-na stared at it for a second longer, before asking.

“Can I keep it?

“Of course.”

A-na tapes it up on her side of the room, above her desk.

They start heading to Juun’s dorm for the group hang out.

Once they get there, they all play video games.

“Yuha, wow. You actually won against Juun??!” Ian yelled, very surprised.

“I guess I taught her well…” A-na says with a smirk.
