Annabeth sat on her bunk, debating on actually going to try and fix her dagger, since during the stupid Battle of Manhattan, it broke.
It broke! Gods, how stupid this was.
She could use it, actually pretty well. But there was a huge crack running down the handle that sliced her hand if she wasn't careful.
Malcolm Pace, her half-brother, but she considered a full brother since he'd been there since she first arrived, about a year and a half older then her in fact, noticed when she took a huge sigh, spinning the bottom and tip of the dagger between her fingers.
"You know you could go down to the forgery, right? Or the Hepheastus cabin in general, they could fix it..You know that, right?" Malcolm spoke up, the eery silence of the Athena Cabin breaking.
Annabeth sat up, tilting her head at her brother. "I guess I could? But I dunno, I'm honestly scared of Beckendorf and his siblings," She giggled nervously. "I mean, not scared, exactly, but I get nervous around them."
Malcolm looked at her like she was crazy. "Nyssa isn't that scary."
Anmabeth sat up straighter, and Malcolm for sure noticed, because he started teasing her.
"Oh, does someone like someone?" He laughed when she huffed and flopped back down on her bed.
"I don't! I just..forget she's a daughter of Hepheastus sometimes. That's all." Not all, actually.
After Percy had kissed Rachel Elizabeth stupid Dare, she decided she was done with him. Like, completely done. Not talking to him for a while either.
So, she moved on, and talked to other people. Not romantically, no, but just to get her mind off of it.
And during that time, Annabeth noticed Nyssa around camp, and during the winter, when Annabeth stayed, they talked a little, and kissed once. Once!!! It was a silly little thing. Seriously nothing.
Except she had thought about it for days.
"Yeah, alright, Annabeth." Malcolm laughed, and she groaned.
"Fine!" Annabeth got up, grabbing her dagger. "I'll go over there right now!"
Malcolm rolled his eyes, but Annabeth basically ran out of the cabin.
She could do this, it was a stupid little crush she had on a girl a long while ago.
Annabeth wasn't scared.
Nope.
Not at all.
Her hand shook as she knocked on the forgery door. Charles Beckendorf opened it, and his girlfriend, Silena Beauregard sat on a bench in the back, waving at Annabeth.
"Hi, is..um, Nyssa there?" Annabeth gulped, trying to act like this was completely normal!
Beckendorf nodded. "In the back."
"Thanks." Annabeth walked in, hugging Silena quickly.
"Hi Annie!! How are you doing, whatcha here for?" Silena smiled as she squeezed Annabeth tight.
Silena was like, Annabeth's big sister. When Thalia "died", Silena was the one who helped Annabeth with her curls, and helped her with basically everything.
She also helped her get over her crush on Percy. Very important big sister stuff.
"I'm okay, my dagger broke, so I'm just gonna ask someone to help." Annabeth smiled. "I'll..leave you guys to it. Bye, Silena." Annabeth waved as she ran towards the weaponry.
"Bye, Annie!" Silena yelled back, waving.

When Annabeth knocked on the door of the weaponry, and Nyssa greeted her, she felt her face get hot.
Gods, is it too late to run away?
Nyssa moved away from the doorway so Annabeth could come in.
She also was the one to first talk. "So." Nyssa cleared her throat. "Can I help you?"
Annabeth stood there for a second after she walked in, then snapped out of it. "Yeah, my dagger..kinda broke. In the war." Annabeth held it out by the tip, so Nyssa could see the crack.
"Oh, that's not bad." Nyssa said as she inspected the dagger, twirling it between her fingers. "Someone from the Ares Cabin, I think, brought in their sword, and it was in tiny bits. Like, I couldn't even fix it."
Annabeth laughed, or well, she laughed very dryly. "Really? That's funny."
"It was fucking horrible. I gave up after an hour. Cost me back pain for weeks." Nyssa shook her head as she reached for something.
But she couldn't quite reach it. "Hey, Annie, can you hand me those tweezers?" Nyssa said without looking up, which made Annabeth stop looking at her muscles.
Holy fuck, did the girl have muscles.
"Oh, yeah, sure. Here." Annabeth grabbed the tweezers, and their fingers touched for a small second as Nyssa reached out to grab them.
Annabeth froze, staring at their hands.
Nyssa finally took the tweezers after what felt like forever.
"So. What have you been up to?" Annabeth asked, wiping her hand on her shorts.
Nyssa glanced up at Annabeth for a second, then back down at her dagger. "Nothing much, I guess. I mean, I've been in here a lot, since no one else will cover for Charles, since..ya' know."
Annabeth nodded.
Charles Beckendorf had survived two things in a row. First, it was a massive ship explosion. At first, everyone thought he had died, until he showed up at camp, missing a leg, but the healers fixed that and gave him a prophestic one.
The next was the war, he had almost died again, because some traitor kid stabbed him, saying he should have been dead, but he survived that as well.
Him and Silena were quite literally the most luckiest people ever. Of course, Silena had burns from the accident, but they've gotten better.
"Anyways, here's the dagger. Don't train with it for awhile, let it sit out for a few days." Nyssa handed the dagger back.
Annabeth nodded again, and swallowed. Suddenly her throat was super dry.
"Thanks. For the dagger." Annabeth moved her glance to Nyssa back to the dagger.
Nyssa nodded, "No worries." Annabeth looked back up at her.
They stayed like that until Nyssa cleared her throat, looking away and wiping her hands. "You should probably get going. I'll see you around camp sometime, if I get out." Nyssa laughed, then stopped.
"Yeah, I guess I should. Bye." Annabeth also tore her eyes away from Nyssa.
"Bye, Annabeth."
Annabeth walked out, trying to sneak past Silena and Charles talking.
And she did, and ran back to her cabin.
Literally, ran.
When she closed the door behind her, she let out a huge huff.
"So. How's the girlfriend?" Malcolm said, and Annabeth could practically hear the smirk.
"She's not my girlfriend. She's..an acquantince. But Nyssa's fine, she's busy." Annabeth sat down on her bunk, placing her dagger on her table.
"Whatever you say, lover-girl." Malcolm shook his head.
Annabeth got up, climbing onto his bunk just to slap him.
"I'm not a lover-girl! I'm a..fuck, I have no clue." She sighed, sitting down on his bunk.
"It's okay, we can hate our crushes together." Malcolm sat up, laying his head down on Annabeth's shoulder.
She was about to push it off, but paused. "Excuse me, what?"
"I didn't say anything." He said.
Annabeth furrowed her brows. "You did."
"Annabeth, hush." Malcolm said, dragging his finger down her nose before she shoved it off.
