Columbina wandered across the hallways. It was already late and everybody was sleeping.
She never liked the night.
God's didn't need rest so she rarely slept, thus she tended to avoid her room. It remained practically the same ever since she joined the Fatui all those years ago. Every room including that of the harbingers had the same furniture, she didn't like how it looked but she was still unfamiliar with how to get new one. Because of that and the fact that she didn't own anything left the room completely barren. The rooms of Rosalynes and Sandrone were far better.
Rosalynes room was very red. It was her favorite colour. Some of her items were still from her time before she joined the Fatui. Dried Cecilia's preserved trough magic. Books and certificates from the academia, the big one in Sumeru. And other small trinkets all mostly from Mondstatd. Columbina could see that Rosaline always had an attachment to her homeland. She only wished that there was a way for her to help with the sorrow and rage that was in her eyes when she spoke about it. She didn't like to see Rosalyne upset.
But despite her unending rage she was still proud of her origin.
She loved to talk about the culture and would teach Columbina traditional ballads (Columbina wasn't very good at those.)
On her Birthdays she would also sometimes bring firewater from Mondstadt to celebrate. She claimed that other Nations never got the taste correctly. Columbina usually took her word for it because she never drank Firewater.
Sandrones room was the opposite of Rosalynes, but was still very cozy. It didn't have many of her personal belongings. Most of it was filled with mechanical parts, the kind that Columbina didn't understand the use of. Some were familiar to her because she saw them being used by dottore, but most remained a mystery. Sandrones tried to explain their purpose once, but she gave up once she noticed that Columbina didn't understand anything.
She always liked her room even if it was a bit messy. It was warm. Especially when Sandrone was there. Spending time with her has become part of her routine and she cherishes every second of it.
A fuzzy memory came to the surface of her mind and Columbina smiled. It was from when Sandrones and her made croissants once. Sandrone didn't like the way she was making the dough so they had to restart the batch. It was all worth it in the end. The result was the best pastries she had ever eaten in her life.
What was Sandrone doing at the moment? Was she still working? She had a tendency to overwork herself and that simply wouldn't do. Columbina had to go check on her.
Columbina effortlessly glided across the halls of the Zapolyarny palace, singing a calm melody as she usually did.
1..2..3..4..5 she crossed all of the harbingers rooms before finally arriving at the correct door. Sandrone was still being evaluated, which in normal words meant that she was being checked for how good she would fit into the fatui. And because of that she was already given a room at the harbingers wing. Columbina remembered to knock on the door. She wasn't used to doing it, none of the priests back in the Frost moon scions did it, but Sandrone didn't like when she entered uninvited, so she's trying her best to remember doing that to not upset Sandrone.
The door didn't open for a while but eventually Sandrone walked out still dressed in her working clothes.
