Chapter Text

It was Monday. A new week that could be filled with new challenges, opportunities, or headaches, in some cases. We see students talking to each other, throwing balls around, or getting in early studying before classes.

Our second-favorite werewolf and vampire couple were walking together as she kept eyeing him.

Clawdeen:”Why are you wearing your sunglasses again?” She looked at Lennie as he held his books in his hands.

The vampire had on his regular school outfit, but with the added apparel of his old sunglasses which now covered Lennie’s eyes now.

Lennie:”When I was leaving from home this morning…paparazzi and tabloids were at my family’s gate.” They walked to class together, “Pa’s hiring a construction crew to make an entire wall around our property so no one tries to get to our home.”

Ever since Lennie had finally been in full take-off mode with his album and singing career, things have been hectic to say the least about his private life.

About a day ago, he had been driving by himself towards the store as a little errand that his mom had sent him on. But as he stopped at the red light, the vampire was suddenly surrounded by cameras and people.

It had surprised him and when he saw that the light had turned green, he honked his horn and he drove off as quick as possible.

Since then, Lennie had been being followed around by paparazzi, tabloids, and fans of all ages. Although he was very happy to see the amount of support he got from monsters, ghouls, and some normies, it was a lot for him.

So, he would now wear glasses and a small black doctor’s mask when he went out anywhere. The vampire would also use his parent’s car from time to time as to make sure he was unseen.

The two kept walking towards their class before they suddenly heard the screeching of wheels along the floor. Turning around, they saw someone they’ve never seen.

?:”Out of the way, mates!” He pushed Clawdeen out of the way of the speeding merman as she ended up with her back against the metal containers.

His chin was nearly resting on her shoulder while his eyes rested on her to check on her figure.

Lennie:”You alright?” She nodded and the vampire scooted away from her. “But while on the subject of fans and my supporters, I have an idea.” She cocked an eyebrow at him, “I want to do more than just sing, I-I want to actually interact with monsters, ghouls, or humans that are impoverished.”

Clawdeen:”That’s not a bad thing to do for your fans, Lennie. You’ve just got to be careful now since you’re now getting more and more popular.” He stood silent as she walked into their class and the boy just stayed quiet before also walking in.

Lennie:”So, you’re new around here?” He sat on the bench while watching the merman speed off on his wheelchair before hitting various air-tricks, and ramps that surrounded the track.

?:”Got that right! The name’s Finnegan Wake, but most people call me Rider!” He did a wheelie and Lennie let out a little chuckle. Finnegan looked at him with an expression of examining his features before his eyes snapped open suddenly, “You’re Lennie Nielsen?! That one singing vampire?”

A small chuckle came from his mouth.

Lennie:”Guilty as charged.” He slid his sunglasses down slightly and looked at him, “Did you want something?”

Finnegan:”I got this kid who I know at a children’s hospital, real big fan of your album and music!” He rolled over to him and Lennie cocked an eyebrow towards the merman, “Could you be a good samaritan and maybe visit him?”

The vampire smiled widely at his new friend.

Lennie:”Absolutely!” He smacked the merman’s pec playfully, “We can go after school to go see them.” As the two walk out of the empty Skulltimate-Roller Maze stadium, he gets a text from Clawdeen.

Cher: ‘Will be bzy with bloodgood, dnt wait up.’ A small falter in his smile took hold before he put his phone in his pocket and walked off with Finnegan next to him.

The ghouls stood together in Headmistress Bloodgood's office, looking concerned.

Bloodgood: “Ladies, it's time for Monster High to pick its annual Creature of the Year, and I like your assistance in choosing the winner.” She puts her head onto her body while Cleo gasps with excitement, “I've narrowed down to two members of our faculty: Mr. Hack……and Mr. Rotter.”

Lagoona: “Well, it can't be Mr. Hack. He’s anti-Amphibian!” She rubs a crystal ball which shows the memory of her and Gil being assigned as parent for a gargoyle egg.

Hackington: “Maybe you should switch partners.” He folds him arms before pointing at the two.

Lagoona: “Why would you say that?”

Hackington:”Everyone knows sea monsters are bad parents.”

It returns to the present as their headmistress gasps.

Bloodgood: “Oh, I didn't realize.”

Cleo: “And he takes royal delight in our misery.” She puts her own hand on the crystal ball, it shows her own memory.

Hackington: “Your cabin is in a slightly different location.” He laughs manically as the bus drove to a rickety cabin and the ghouls were dropped off there, with their luggage.

Their stitched up friend steps up to the door.

Frankie: Come on, it's not that…” The door breaks off from the hinges, “…bad.

Another memory from the same egg assignment is shown to all of them.

Hackington: You fail, you fail, you fail, you fail!”

He walks by Cleo and Deuce's table, where Cleo was breaking their petrified egg free with a hammer. He then cackles as he walks out the door in one memory.

Hackington: “Off with their grades!”

Back to the present, their headmistress just shakes her head.

Bloodgood: “Then that settles it! Mr. Rotter, it is.”

Cleo:”No way.”

Another memory plays in the crystal ball.

Cleo:”Mr. Rotter, I totally did the work to perfection. Why didn't I get an A?” He looks up from grading work, which is revealed to be Lennie’s paper.

Mr. Rotter: “I don't give A's.” He shows an example as the vampire’s paper is shown with everything correct, but he still gives him a B+.

Returning to the present, Frankie is now with Lagoona and Cleo on the crystal ball.

Frankie:”And remember when he gave us all detention?”

They’re suddenly shown the events of them being put into a detention classroom together.

Rotter:”You and your friends have detention.”

Frankie: “What did we do?” She looks at Draculaura, who shrugs.

Rotter: “One of you took my glasses, and I want to know who!” He bangs his hands onto the desk, and to his surprise, his glasses slid down to his eyes.

Clawdeen/Lennie: “Those glasses?”

Rotter: “Oh, um, yes.” He clears his throat out of embarrassment.

Bloodgood: “Well, I guess I have to start my search over, “ she looks Nightmare, “Nightmare, hand me my files.” Nightmare neighs and dutifully brings the Headless Headmistress her files, but soon Frankie has an idea.

Frankie: “Wait, the award is for Creature of the Year, right? Well, then maybe it should go to…”

Later at the Clawditorium, Bloodgood is announcing the winner.

Bloodgood: “Nightmare! The Creature of the Year!” Between the podium is Rotter and Hackington one side, and the other side consists of Kindergrübber and Mr. Where.

Nightmare gallops foward to the stage and receives the award. The students cheer for the horse.

Frankie: “I just hope the award doesn't go to her head,” But before she could leave the stage, Nightmare huffed at the two disqualified educators. But seeing their expressions, she blew fire from their nostrils onto them, much to their chagrin.

During the week, Lennie was making the tabloids and paparazzi run around like dog without its leash.

He had gone to multiple hospitals around the state and country to see multiple fans who weren’t able to see him at all or were bedridden in hospitals.

The whole idea came from Finnegan, who had him visit his child friend in the hospital along with also giving thanks to hospital staff who were working as it was the same one where his little sister was born at.

Then, after that he requested that he get three days worth of homework from his teachers for the following days. This resulted in him going on a little trip with his parents as he had them along.

He got to Hauntlywood, and was immediately met with his fanfare. Most of them were lined up outside of the airport and luckily, his father found a security team in time to help guide them to their motorcade.

The first places they got to were hospitals of monsters or ghouls that were terminally ill and his own fans.

Lennie was shocked that so many people and monsters loved him. So, he showed that same energy back to all of the children, adults, and the professional doctors. He gave out toys, books, free albums, autographs, anything you could name that he did to make them happy or allow them prosper, he did it for them. His little sister was even given some gifts, but that was expected as Lennie never fully had interactions with her.

Right now, the vampire was in a room with an ill goblin child who not only had a poster of Lennie up in his room, he had his lucky figurine of the vampire with him.

Lennie:”So Bobbie, how have things been for you?” The child clutched his figurine with a slight gasped look.

Bobbie:”Good…only a little pain.” Lennie had been given the diagnosis of the child and found that he was like Finnegan, couldn’t walk or use his legs without some small pain traveling through him.

The vampire just smiled while chuckling lightly.

Lennie:”Did you like listening and dancing to my songs?” A camera flash went over the room as he saw from outside the viewing window, a paparazzi had snuck in to take a photo.

He signaled to his newly hired security guard; Nerezza who was a vampire as well, to get them out of here. The brooding, tall vampire who wore a black fedora immediately went outside as Lennie saw him spook them by roaring at them.

Bobbie:”Does it get tiring?” Lennie looked at the small child, “Y’know…being a famous singer?” The young vampire smiled melancholy at him.

Lennie:”There are times…being so young.” He went quiet for a brief second. “But it is worth it, in my opinion.” He smiled with his fangs showing.

Bobbie:”Really?” The vampire nodded.

Lennie:”Nothing in this world makes me happier…than seeing everyone else just as happy as I am.” His foot tapped on the floor.

From outside, Nerezza looked inside as the two talked before the goblin began laughing along with Lennie as well.

After a while, Lennie was seen asleep on a plane. His sunglasses hung loosely on the collar of his shirt as his little sister was next to him with a coloring book. But his notebook was open where a title was shown on top of the page; Thriumphant, along with names of songs listed below.

His hand lazily grabbed the book before he turned over in his sleep.

A couple hours later, he looked on his iCoffin, it was early morning and Thursday. He yawned as he pulled his backpack over his shoulders. Going through the airport, Jewels stayed next to him as he got to his car.

Nerezza:”You drive?” The vampire laughed as they got inside.

Lennie:”Why are you following me to school?” The grown vampire chuckled.

Nerezza:”Your pops told me to protect you, so that’s what I’m gonna be doing.” The young vampire just scoffed lightly before turning on the car.

They left the parking lot and were soon on the way to monster high. The radio turned on and Lennie had found that they weren’t playing his songs anymore. Although a nice change of pace from hearing his music for almost nearly two months straight, something triggered in him.

And his security guard noticed his small attitude shift.

Nerezza:”You okay?” The boy tapped his hand against the steering wheel and nodded at him.

Lennie:”I’m cool.” They both saw the school in view as Nerezza whistled.

Nerezza:”Man, place is huge.” Pulling into the parking lot, most of the monsters and ghouls saw the most recognizable vehicle in the school besides Draculara’s.

As Lennie got out of the car, he saw Nerezza about get out before stopping him.

Lennie:”Just take my car home, please?” The old vampire man just nodded as he watched the boy walked into the school while watching some ghouls began to look at him before speaking to each other.

All everyone knew was that they were now entering a new scaremester and things were going to be possibly different.
