Chapter Text
Anthony didn't know what was happening. When had he ever cared so much about what he was wearing to a party? Typically, he put on a shirt and jeans, but he felt the need to impress.
Whether it was because he was the basketball captain or Coy, he didn't know.
He ended up wearing a black shirt, leather jacket, and dark brown pants. It was November, and he knew he would end up outside like he always did.
He was sitting on the couch in the media room, looking for a movie to watch after the party while Coy changed. Was Anthony too focused on what Coy was going to wear to pick out a movie?
Maybe.
“Did you pick a movie?” Coy leaned against the door frame. He was wearing a dark green shirt with a white long-sleeve under and blue jeans. He looked good.
He walked closer, pushed his hair out of his face, and put on the glasses.
“So?”
“Oh-uh-um. I never came up with a movie.” Anthony quickly snapped his head away, feeling his face get hot. What was wrong with him? He had no clue why Coy was making him feel like this.
To be fair, he didn't know what he was feeling.
Anthony felt Coy staring at me like he was trying to uncover something.
“We can just stop at Blockbuster. Um, you look good that way, Coy.”
Coy smiled. “Thanks, I mean, it's your clothes. I like your outfit too.”
They both just awkwardly smiled at each other. There's no denying they had a good day today, but old memories still linger.
Coy jumps up. “OH, you forgot the most important part.” Coy runs out of the room.
He comes running back in with the yellow glasses.
He walks over and sits right in front of Anthony. He leans forward and puts the glasses on Anthony. Coy lingers on his face for a second before pulling back and smiling.
Anthony had forgotten how to breathe. Having Coy that close made his brain short-circuit.
------------------------------------
Coy and Anthony get in the back of Hanbon's car.
“This is going to be so fun!!!” Hanbon cheers from the driver's seat.
“Especially with what we got,” Coy says.
Both Will and Hanbon's heads snap towards them.
Anthony and Coy reach behind them, pulling out a pair of glasses for each of them.
“OMGOMGOMG!!!” Hanbon squeals while putting them on.
‘We are going to be the coolest ones at this party!”
----------------------------
They arrive at the party, and Hanbon and Will speed to the drink table.
Will makes some sort of concoction for everyone to drink.
To Anthony's surprise, it was quite good.
Time flies, and Coy, Hanbon, and Will were wasted. This was probably Anthony's favourite party he had been to. He had friends and wasn't stuck with the basketball crowd. He hadn't even really seen them. Currently, the four of them were on the floor playing truth or dare.
“Will, if you had to date any teacher, who would it be?” Hanbon asks while laying on his shoulder.
“Don't know if this counts, but definitely Mrs. Shirley.”
Coy gasps, “ You had totally thought about this”
All four of them break out laughing.
“Oh god.” Hanbon stands up, covering her mouth. She was definitely about to puke.
She sprints inside, leaving all three of the boys.
Will stands up. “I will go help her.” He gets up and chases after her.
Now it's a sober Anthony and a very drunk Coy. Coy leans his head on Anthony's shoulder. Anthony feels himself stiffen. He looks down at the boy. He has the sudden urge to run his fingers through Coy’s hair. What was going on? Anthony had never felt like this before. You know what? It's probably just because he got his best friend back. Right? That's what Anthony has to tell himself, at least.
“I’m hungry,” Coy mumbles into Anthony's shoulder. Anthony nods. He was hungry too, but he didn't want Coy to leave his shoulder.
Finally, he snaps back to himself. “There are like chips and stuff inside.”
Coy looks up and smiles, and suddenly jumps up, grabbing Anthony's hand and pulling him inside.
------------------------------------
Coy is so drunk. He doesn't know if he has ever been this drunk. He cannot think straight, and Anthony isn't helping.
He and Anthony are standing around a counter as Coy eats some random bag of chips he found.
“Well, if it isn't Anthony.” Coy looks up to see three boys from the basketball team approaching.
Anthony rubs his eyes. “Hey.” The four of them start talking about something. Coy was too wasted to even care or listen.
Coy does look up to see another boy approaching. He recognized him. He was one of the boys who was at the park earlier that day.
“Boys, did you warn Anthony about his new friend over here?” Both Coy and Anthony exchanged a look of confusion.
“Don't look confused, Coy; you know what im talking about.” What the fuck is happening?
“Patterson, what is going on?” Anthony snaps back. Patterson? That sounded really familiar to Coy.
“Well, Anthony, Coy had some sort of reputation at his last school.” Shit. Shit. Shit. Of course, how could Coy be so blind? He saw him at the park today and ignored it. This was fucking Lord Patterson, the one who outed him at his last school.
“Fuck off.” Coy spat out.
Lord Patterson looked at Coy and laughed. “Anthony, I think you should know that Coy is a pathetic little fa-”
Anthony lunged at Patterson. Coy felt the room move in slow motion as he watched Anthony beat the shit out of Lord Patterson.
That was the hottest thing Coy had ever seen.
------------------
Anthony was now sitting on the living room couch icing his nose. He definitely won that fight. But he still got hit pretty good. What was he thinking? The thing is, he wasn't. He couldn't just stand there as he said disgusting things about Coy. He couldn't.
Coy came and sat next to him, ‘You didn't have to do that.”
Anthony sighed; he was too tired to argue with a drunk Coy.
“I did.” Coy lay down on the couch. “Thank you.”
“Mhm.” Anthony stood up. “Im going to go bandage my nose before my mom gets home.”
Coy shot up. “Let me help.” Anthony looked at Coy. He was barely able to stand up.
Anthony shook his head. “You need to drink water and sit down.”
Coy crossed his arms and walked forward. “It's the least I can do. You helped me today and last night.”
They both walked into the bathroom. Coy signaled for Anthony to sit on the counter just like he had the night before. Coy grabbed a rag to wash the blood off his face. Coy was shockingly careful for his state. It was all going fine. Coy was cleaning up the cuts with no challenge at all, and Anthony was freaking out, having Coy this close. That was until Coy had to clean the blood off his lip.
----------------------------
Coy leaned up to clean his lip. Coy noticed immediately how close they were. And Coy was totally not freaking out. All Coy could think about was Anthony's lips and how soft they were and how easy it would be to lean forward and press their lips against each other. But he couldn't and wouldn't. He swore that he saw Anthony looking at his lips. But there was no way. He was just drunk and making things up to feed his delusions. He finished cleaning his lip and looked up at Anthony, and whoa, his eyes were so blue.
Coy leans even more forward and puts his hand on his cheek.
His eyes are so pretty. He is so pretty.
He heard Anthony swallow. He hadn't said that out loud, right?
-----------------------
Your eyes are so pretty. You are pretty. Anthony was freaking out. How could he stay calm? Anthony wasn't gay. He just wasn't. He couldn't be. But he had such a strong urge to move forward and to touch Coy’s lips.
He looked up to see Coy staring directly at him.
They stared at each other, inches from their lips touching.
“Coy,” Anthony breathed out
“Antho-”
