Chapter Text
A laugh echoed through the room as soon as Peter stepped foot into the classroom. He took in a deep breath then looked up to the source. As expected, flash was grinning at him so wide you'd think he was wearing a clown costume.
"Is he.. okay?" Peter whispered to Ned, who only shrugged in response.
"Well If it isn't Tony Stark's 'own person Intern.' to what do we owe the pleasure?"
As the mocking words reached them, Peter froze in place. Surely he misheard, he attempted to reason. Flash had no way of knowing he was Tony's personal intern.
"I'd love to hear all about it," He continued, mockery dripping from every word he spoke. "Does he let you use his suits too?"
Nope, He didn't misheard. Of course not. "How do you… what?"
"What next? You know Spider-Man?"
Peter blinked, his mouth falling open before quickly closing again. He took a moment to process the information before speaking again, choosing his words carefully. "What are you talking about?"
"What am I talking about? I don't know, maybe you should enlighten us—"
"He's talking about the video you posted," MJ cut in. "He waltzed in here this morning talking all about it, then all but forced us to watch it."
Right, The video. Peter had nearly forgotten all about that.
Flash scowled at being cut off. "The point still stands! What was that video about, huh?"
"You watched the video, didn't you? Multiple times too, by the sound of it." Peter muttered, making his way to his seat. He dropped his bag on top of his desk then sat down.
"Oh please," Flash followed. "We all know that it's fake. You probably made your friends, or hell even hired people to act for it! And I don't doubt you edited Tony Stark in."
"Hm, maybe."
"Just admit it." He slammed his hands down on the table.
"Admit what?"
Flash seethed "I swear if you don't—"
"Everyone to your seats!" Their teacher, ordered as he walked in.
Everyone except for flash immediately listened, filling into their respective seats. Only he hesitated, before grumbling out a quiet insult and walking off.
"Alright, class! It brings me great pleasure to announce, we've finally got the destination for our field trip locked down. This one is a particularly exciting one, so please listen up." As soon as the words field trip reached his ears, Peter let himself space out.
He couldn't be bothered to listen, not when he refused to go. The last few trips he went on all ended up horribly, and he'd much rather not have a repeat of either of them.
Carefully, Peter pulled out his phone. He positioned it behind his bag and opened up the video. He watched the view count rise once, before settling on 1093. The likes on it were nearly at five hundred or so, and the comments were going wild.
'no way this is real 💀'
'BAHAHAHA SAVE THE LABS FR'
'hashtag save the labs!!!'
^ 'girl, you could have just used the # symbol. Y'know that, right? It's important to me that you know that.
^^ 'who said I'm a girl?'
^^^ 'ouhhhh sorry man I use the terms in a gender neutral way lowk'
'I want more!! Now!!!'
'interview the avengers I'M BEGGING'
Peter sighed, skimming through the rest of the comments before shifting his attention back to the class. He could hear papers being passed around, specifically the permission slips.
He grabbed his own, shoving it deep into his bag without even bothering to read it.
"Remember, Turn these in by Wednesday. The field trip is on Saturday, but we need to have the final head count early." The students mumbled out their agreements, excitement radiating off of all of them.
"You going?" Ned mouthed, to which Peter shook his head.
Peter stumbled across the kitchen. He opened the fridge the moment it was in reach, and lazily leaned up against it. He pushed a couple things out of the way in search, before finally finding his leftover sandwich from a couple days ago.
Bingo.
He grabbed it, shut the door, then made his way back to the living room. He was still wearing his pajamas— which consisted of pink hello kitty sweatpants, and an oversized 'she think on my therefore till I am' shirt that he'd stolen from Ned.
Thankfully, no one was around to judge him, this weekend. Most of the avengers were either out training, working or on missions. Meaning he could eat his cold leftover sandwich in peace, without their worry or snickering.
"Friday?" Peter spoke between bites. "Where's tony?"
"He's currently at a meeting, peter. Shall I inform him that you're looking for him?"
"Nah, just let me know when it ends."
"Understood, will do."
"Thanks fri!"
"she think on my therefore till I am?" One of the interns questioned, her voice reaching Peter the moment he stepped into the R&D labs.
The boy shrugged in response. "Don't question it."
"Right…"
"Little stark!" One of the new interns called out, running over. "One of the engines on the— are you eating cold leftovers again..?"
Peter huffed, feigning offense. "My cold leftovers are non of your business, Evan."
"Until Mr stark starts another intervention."
"That's not going to happen." Peter would never admit it, but the intern was right. It had already happened twice, what's stopping him from doing it a third time?
"So is.."
After a while of running around helping others and what not, Peter finally got a second to himself. He approached the same work bench he had used the night before and slipped his headphones on.
"If anyone needs me, please tap me instead of calling. I won't be able to hear you." He warned the others, gesturing towards his headphones vaguely.
"Alright, mini boss." Lila grinned from next to him. "We'll try not to bother you too much."
"No promises!" One of the others called out.
"What would you do without me," Peter mused dramatically, placing a hand on his chest.
"Probably die."
"I hate how accurate that is.."
After a while of working on his web shooters, He carefully pulled out his suit. He placed it on his desk and started working on integrating the mechanism into it.
Most people here knew him as the 'Spider-mechanic' either way, so he wasn't all too worried about hiding it. They assumed that he worked on the tech for Spider-Man, not that he was Spider-Man.
As he worked, Peter could feel unease creeping up on him. He chose to ignore it though, passing it off as just another lab incident.
Worst mistake of the century.
"Have you taken up cosplay again?" A voice sneered from behind him, causing him to drop his screwdriver.
He quickly pushed back his headphones and whipped his head around, only to be met with one of his classmates standing over his shoulder.
"What are you doing here?!" Peter shrieked the moment his thoughts caught up to him.
"Field trip." MJ spoke from where she stood next to Ned.
Right, They had a field trip today. Peter hadn't even remembered it, considering he wasn't planning to join in the first place. He just tuned out all the information during class, then 'forgot' to turn in his permission slip.
"The kid does cosplay?" A voice— Tony's voice, questioned.
"Mr stark..?"
"Yeah!" Ned grinned, stepping forward. He seemed more than willing to spill Peter's secrets.
Another one of his classmates spoke next. "I remember he once dressed up as iron-man. It was surprisingly accurate."
"Didn't he also dress up like tony beneath the armor? So that he would be absolutely accurate?"
"Shut up! That's confidential information! How the fuck do you even know about that?" Peter was panicking. That much was clear to anyone that saw him. Anyone being his whole class, every intern in the room, the tour guide and Tony stark.
"We all saw it when you posted it, remember? Flash printed out those pictures and everything."
"Yeah.. the guy sure did love carrying around those pictures for someone who supposedly hates you." MJ snickered, barely looking up from her sketch book.
"Shut up!" Both flash and Peter spoke at the same time.
"You cosplay-ed me?" The man cooed, eyes practically sparkling. "I'll have to ask your aunt if she has pictures."
Flash was practically seething, but knew better than to speak up. Especially with Tony stark here. The last thing he wanted was to get kicked out for questioning what Peter was doing here or why Tony knew his aunt.
"I hate you all." Peter muttered, shoving his work into a cardboard box. He was silently hoping no one would notice, as he didn't want to explain why he was working on a Spider-Man suit.
"You love us." Tony countered.
"No, I love Natasha Romanoff and Pepper Potts. Them, and only them. They don't embarrass me."
"You know black widow too…?" Flash practically whined, sounding devastated.
"Also, what kind of outfit is that." MJ asked at some point which caused Peter to go a dark red.
"It's… ugh, I just didn't want to change, okay? Leave me alone." He muttered in answer.
Ned walked up to them from behind, smiling wide. "I like it."
Tony nodded in agreement. "Yeah. It's cute. Suits you, kid."
"Don't you have a tour group to do a QnA with or something?" Peter scowled at the man, still not forgiving him for the lack of warning.
"How rude."
As the group prepared to leave, Tony was stopped by one of the interns— specifically Evan from earlier. "Mr stark, just so y'know, Peter's been eating cold leftovers again."
"Has he?"
"Yup. A cold sandwich, this morning."
"But we haven't had sandwiches since…"
Peter paled, realizing that he was practically fucked now. This was his last day on earth. He's done for.
"Peter, what the fuck?!"
