Chapter Text
Tim wakes up and reaches for the book. The book that Lucy so lovingly picked out. He turns it over and then opens it up.
It was signed.
She got it signed. How in the world did she manage that?
He’s always amazed by her but this—
He stares at the cover of the book, and then turns over to look at Lucy who is still asleep. He can’t believe she got this for him. He can’t believe she actually remembered and then went searching.
He can’t believe she is his again on this Valentine’s day.
Which is why, he needs to book that trip to Paris.
He slides out of bed and makes his way to the kitchen. He grabs his laptop on the way out and sets up at the table.
He’s going to get Lucy to Paris one way or another. He’s going to make this Valentine’s Day worth it. He already messed up and they spent last Valentine’s Day wrapped in each other’s arms but it wasn’t the same.
It ended.
And this Valentine’s Day…
She got him the most incredible gift and now he needs to get her something incredible. Something that will blow her mind.
Like Paris.
A week in Paris.
It would not only be the perfect gift but it would be a good thing for them to get away. He types in some dates and Paris and starts scrolling.
And scrolling.
And scrolling.
He’s going to take Lucy to Paris and not skimp out like he did with Ashley and Hawaii.
(Actually that was a relief, he didn’t like beaches or Ashley really.)
But one way or another he’s getting her to Paris.

Lucy wakes up without Tim next to her. She reaches out for him but his spot is empty. She sighs and lays back down on the pillow.
Last night was crazy, they got separated and Lucy never did get her Valentine’s Day present from him. They drove home, and he didn’t say anything about the present. They fell into bed together (of course). And that was that.
But now she lies awake, wondering why Tim was acting so weird.
Did he not have a present?
Was he trying to distract her?
She sits up and throws her legs out of bed and then walks over to the chair where their clothes from last night were.
She really wishes their Valentine’s Day wasn’t so anticlimactic. She kind of wishes that she had taken Tim up on his offer and to get freaky in Nolan’s guest bedroom.
She picks up her dress and sees Tim’s jacket. She picks it up and realizes it feels a little heavy. She reaches inside and pulls out a box.
A small square box.
She frowns running her finger over the top of it. Was this the reason he was acting so weird? The reason he wasn’t in bed next to her? Was he going to—
She opens up the box and finds a pair of earrings. They are beautiful, and she loves that Tim knows her.
He really knows her and loves her. These beautiful earrings that matched her necklace.
They are perfect.
Lucy slowly walks out to the living room and sees her boyfriend staring at the laptop screen. She watches for a few minutes before she makes her presence known. He closes the laptop and makes his way to her.
She definitely didn’t expect to find the earrings and she definitely didn’t expect their Valentine’s Day to go the way it did but—
Honestly, she didn’t want anything more.
Nothing at all.

Tim catches himself staring at the book again. He can’t help it, this is the best gift he has ever gotten.
But it wasn’t just that. It was the fact that Lucy put so much thought into. It’s the fact that she thought of this and then went looking.
The earrings he got her didn’t even compare to that.
(Although he was grateful that she said she likes them. He believes her, no matter how badly he wants to get her something else. Something better.)
“Whatcha doing?” Lucy asks. Tim looks up from his spot on the bed. She slides onto it and lays her head down on his shoulder. “Have you started it yet?”
“No.” He says. He presses a kiss to the top of her head. “I just can’t believe you found this and got it signed.”
“I know. I’m pretty amazed myself but it wasn’t worth it.” She says. “The author was really nice.”
“Yeah?” He hums. “And you got me two presents.”
“Not on purpose.” She grumbles. “You know what tequila does to me.”
“You have sex with me and not tequila I know.” Tim says with amusement in his voice. Lucy shoves at his shoulder.
“Shut up!” She says. Tim hums softly and then looks over at her. He realizes with a start she’s wearing the earrings.
“You are wearing the earrings.” He says softly. He feels a rush of warmth and love for this woman.
His woman.
Always.
“I told you I love them.” Lucy says. “You did good babe. I love you.” Tim wants to say so many things.
So many things.
But instead he just smiles at her. “I love you too.”

Lucy sighs as she takes the earrings out for bed. She glances back at Tim and he’s reading his book. Although she’s not sure he’s actually reading. She feels his eyes on her, and when she turns around he is reading again.
“I know you aren’t reading.” She says. She takes her hair out of its ponytail and then walks over to the bed and climbs in.
“No I’m not.” He says and he puts the book aside. He rolls over to look at her, and then leans in to give her a kiss. “How about we make up for Valentine’s Day? We didn’t exactly—”
“Right.” Lucy says and he rolls her to hover over her. “I like the sound of that.” Tim grins at her and then kisses her. Hard.
“Happy Valentine’s Day Lucy.” Tim says. Lucy gives him a look but doesn’t say anything except:
“Happy Valentine’s Day Tim.”
