Chapter Text
Colt got discharged from the hospital about a week and a half after the whole Tom Ryder ordeal. The lead actor for MetalStorm was recast and filming wrapped up pretty smoothly, all things considered. Colt was forced to sit out on most of the stunts due to his still healing injuries and the fact that Jody absolutely refused to let him out of her sight. He was being coddled like a baby and he hated it.
Well, it could be worse. At least it was Jody and not someone like Dan. That would destroy his ego beyond repair.
When filming was complete, and everyone finally got to go home, Colt caught a flight with Jody back to LA and had to deal with the “You’re coming with me” speech from her, which meant he couldn’t go back to his own apartment and lick his own wounds in private. Should have expected that when they both promised not to keep secrets from each other or hide away again.
But, if he was going to be spending the next few weeks with the most beautiful women in the world. He would at least make it worth her while.
Jody had to go out for most of the day, so Colt put his plan into action. He went out and bought all the things to make homemade spicy margs, all of Jody’s favorite foods, and some more special items. When he arrived back at the apartment he had about an hour to get everything set up before Jody got home.
It had gone better than he expected. Jody walked through the door and was hit with a mix of sweet and savory scents. Colt was standing next to the counter, all the food placed in careful order from favorite to ‘this is also my favorite, but I like this other thing more’. Colt had been rewarded for his efforts with a tight hug as well as a kiss.
They spent the first part of their night eating and drinking, laughing about dumb stunts that Colt had done, and how an actor tried to attempt his own stunt with no practice. The second part of their night was both of them lounging on the couch. Jody propped up with one leg hanging off the side and the other tucked under the one hanging off. Colt was sprawled out on the couch, his head in Jody’s lap as they continued to laugh and tell stories. Jody took another sip of her drink, running her finger along the top of the glass as she became silent.
“How’s your side?” she asked quietly.
Colt hummed, “Fine, a little tight, but that's to be expected.”
Jody didn’t say anything, just kept staring at where Colt had been grazed with one of Gail’s bullets. Colt shifted, propping himself up on one of his elbows, “What’s wrong?”
Jody shook her head, taking another sip of her beverage. “Nothing, it's nothing,” She laughed nervously, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.
Colt was not covinced.
“Jody.”
She looked at him.
“The whole ‘no more keeping secrets’ wasn’t just for me, you know. You promised you wouldn’t either,” He said.
Jody stared at him for a moment, his cheeks were flushed and his posture was more relaxed for someone who was still dealing with multiple injuries and chronic back pain. She sighed, feeling her eyes start to burn, “Why didn’t you tell me what you were really doing in Sydney?”
Colt took a minute to answer, taking a long sip of his own drink before turning to sit the empty glass on the coffee table, nearly missing it before correcting himself. He then faced Jody again.
“I did tell you.”
“No.” She responded with a bit of emotion.
“Well for one, I honestly thought I was just there to film stunts, not get framed for murder.” He chuckled softly.
“Colt.”
Jody’s eyes were brimming with unshed tears that she quickly wiped away, clearing her throat. She spoke softly, “God I was so awful to you when you came back, I was…so angry for you just disappearing.” The tears had returned, and she could do nothing to stop them from falling. “I wanted to be there, I wanted to help.” She sniffled, downing the rest of her drink and setting it beside her.
“Then there was the whole Tom and Gail thing, and you getting framed, faking your death, nearly dying on my set, on my watch, and-”
She was cut off from her spiral by Colt gently kissing her, she stiffened before melting into the kiss. Colt pulled away before either of them wanted to. “Stop that.” He said, putting his index finger in front of her. “It happened, and we have to accept that it happened. Besides, Gail is in jail and Tom blew himself up like the idiot he is,” he paused, “was”. Jody snickered.
“So stop beating yourself up over it.” Colt resumed his position on Jody’s lap and buried his face into her stomach, soaking in her warmth and sweet scent.
“But-”
He put his finger on her lips, missing slightly before readjusting.
“No.”
That got Jody to laugh, bursting into a fit of giggles that lasted for a good 30 seconds. Colt joined her, chuckling softly.
“You’re drunk.” she retorted.
Colt took a few minutes to respond, like he was processing what she had said.
“No, I am tipsy. There’s a difference.”
Jody raised a brow, “Is there?”
“Yes.” Colt responded, quite loudly, propping himself back up on his elbows to where he was looking at Jody. “You’re very bossy”
Jody smirked, grabbing his face and pulling him into another kiss. They both melted into each other's embrace, Colt slowly getting up and wrapping his arms around Jody’s torso. When they pulled away, they both took a minute to just stare. To memorize the details on each other's face.
“I know a way you could put that bossiness to use.” Colt said, with a lustful hint to his voice.
“Do you now?” Jody responded, smirking.
They resumed their kiss, Jody bringing her arms to hug Colts neck as he hoists her up. Her legs wrapped around his waist as they deepened their kiss. Bolts of pleasure shooting up Colt’s spine.
“Take me to bed, stunt boy.” Jody said, moaning as Colt placed soft kisses on her neck. They stopped just before entering into the bedroom, Colt pinning Jody to the wall as she tore his shirt off, running her hands along his neck and down to his chest. Colt returned the gesture by undoing the flannel she was wearing and tossing it away. He began placing soft kisses on her collar bone, doing his best to contain himself as the pleasure in his nerves and veins intensified.
“Colt” Jody moaned, Colt moved from the wall and into the bedroom, closing the door with his foot. He placed Jody on the bed, kissing her passionately.
“Do you have protection?” She asked.
Colt nodded with a groan. He undid her bra and tossed it away, working his way towards undoing her pants.
“Good,” she gasped, struggling with his belt buckle. When the mechanism finally released, she pulled his jeans down, Colt throwing them off when they reached his feet.
“Make me feel good~” She moaned.
Colt didn’t have to be told twice.
The sun was just peaking through the closed blinds of Jody’s window when she awoke. As awareness slowly crept back to her brain, she felt large arms wrapped around her, they were warm and made her feel safe. There was soft snoring behind her, she turned slightly and was met with Colt’s peaceful face. She had never seen him like this, no tenseness in his face or stress lines from dangerous stunts.
Her heart fluttered when she remembered last night.
She turned to face him, his arms still tucked around her. She stared at him, moving to brush a stray piece of hair out of his face. Colt didn’t stir.
She spent a few more minutes just looking at how peaceful he looked while sleeping, then she ever so carefully untangled herself from his arms and legs, placing a soft kiss on his forehead before jumping up and heading to the bathroom.
Jody took a shower and freshened up, throwing on a pair of silk pajama pants and one of Colt’s T-shirts he had left in her apartment a time or two. When she returned to the bedroom, Colt had repositioned to sleeping on his stomach, hands tucked underneath his pillow. Jody moved to the blinds and lifted them slightly, letting the sun coat the bedroom in a warm glow. Jody made her way over to Colt, she didn’t want to disturb him.
She examined his back, the still healing scar on his side, and the one that went down his spine from when he had broken his back and had to have extensive surgery. Her stomach twisted as she stared at the scar, the memory of that day was still fresh, even if it had been a year and a half after everything. Her hands hovered over the scar, before her index carefully traced the thin line of rough skin. She felt Colt jolt and groan, she retracted her hand quickly.
“Jesus,” He mumbled, “Your fingers are like ice.”
Jody snickered, leaning down next to him. “Good morning,” she said.
Colt hummed, his eyes were still closed. “No.”
“Yes.”
“No.”
“You can’t stay in bed all day Colt Seavers.”
“Yes I can,” he said with a smirk, cracking an eye open to look at Jody. She smiled and crawled on top of him, making him turn back over to lay on his back. Jody leaned down and kissed him softly, the kiss only lasted a few seconds before she pulled away. Colt smiled, “You smell nice.” He commented.
“It's called taking a shower,” Jody replied.
Colt snorted.
“How’s your back?” she asked.
Colt sighed, “Fine, little sore, but that comes with waking up.”
“The doctor told you to take it easy.”
“We did take it easy.”
“You pounded me into the bed last night.”
“And we did that carefully.”
“You call that careful?”
Colt chuckled, his hands limply wrapped around her waist.
“Yes,” he replied.
Jody snicked, ruffling his hair playfully. She then felt her stomach growl and realized just how hungry she was. “What do you want for breakfast?” she asked, Colt thought for a moment. “Waffles,” he said.
“Just waffles?”
“With bacon and toast.”
“You got it,” Jody said, jumping up from the bed and heading towards the kitchen. She stood in the doorway, turning to look at Colt who stood and stretched. She admired the way the sun made his skin glisten. Colt turned to look at her, “What?”
“I enjoyed last night,” she said.
Colt smiled.
“Go take a shower,” She said, leaving to go to the kitchen to start breakfast.
“You just ruined the moment!” Colt called after her.
Jody laughed, her heart warm and full and she finally let it sink into her heart and soul. She had her soulmate back, and they were stuck with each other for the rest of their lives.
