Chapter Text

Elwin

When Elwin got Biana’s frantic hail, he almost couldn't believe it. But he leaped to the Four Seasons tree with no hesitation. He wasn't entirely sure what had happened between then and now.

Fitz and Elwin had worked together to leap Sophie back to Everglen. Bullhorn had screamed his head off and ran up to Sophie, curling up on her chest. Pandemonium was happening all around him, but all he could focus on was giving Sophie enough elixirs to keep her alive while Kesler had started on the limbium-free fade fuel. He managed to keep her vitals steady, but she was still in critical condition.

Bullhorn had now moved to lay beside her, which was at least some improvement.

Grady and Edaline had arrived, and there was a bit of commotion, but Elwin couldn't pay attention. He had to check on Dex, then help Kesler with the Fade-Fuel. He hates this part about practicing medicine. He wanted to help people, and wanted to comfort them. But he knew that helping Sophie and bringing her back would help far more than anything he did in the moment would.

Everyone seemed to hold their breath as he sprayed the medicine on Sophie's face, waiting to see if it would work. He flashed an orange orb around her, then a green one, then a yellow one, until he went the entire spectrum two, three times. He let out a sigh of relief as he saw the cells reforming.

“It's working,” he told Alden, Della, Grady, and Edaline. They all sighed and cried with relief. “But she's lost so much of herself. She'll have to fight hard.”

“Good thing she's a fighter then,” Alden said. He looked determined.

Elwin explained the instructions, how they need to give her a spray every hour, and left them to go treat Dex.

He had checked on him after he had stabilized Sophie and had given him some elixirs to finish his treatment. He checked him over to make sure he wasn't faded too, but not a single cell was out of place.

Juline and Kesler stayed by Dex’s side as Elwin completed his exam. The triplets were somewhere and miraculously weren't reeking havoc. Elwin finished up, giving Dex a mild sedative to keep him steady. He had promised Juline and Kesler that the sedative would wear off soon and if he slept longer than expected that it was good. He reassured them Dex would be fine as he left the family.

He checked back on Sophie. Her progress was slow and she was still in critical condition. He suspected she'd remain that way for a while. He'd never seen anyone as faded as her, live to tell the tale.
But she had proven him wrong so many times, he'd hoped she'd prove him wrong again.

Edaline next?
