Chapter Text
Jonathan woke up, sweating. His mind was blank.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and rubbed his eyes, trying to remember that odd dream.
It came from a would-be client they had a few weeks ago, the Count Dracula all the way in Eastern Europe who was interested in the ancient Carfax Abbey.
Although he was willing to pay an extremely handsome amount of money to cover the costs of a solicitor going all the way to Transylvania to handle the contracts in person, he was denied as his firm deemed it too far of a trip. After that, they never heard from him again.
Too bad. Jonathan wanted to see Eastern Europe a little bit. Maybe he'd go there on vacation with Mina and their future children once he had a little more money in his pocket.
After he got dressed, he still had a little more time before he had to go to church. By now, the dream had faded into fragments of feelings.
He felt sort of disappointed at that, as he remembered it being an interesting dream, somewhere in the space between a nightmare and a wet dream— although he'd never admit that part.
He decided to draw what came to his mind as he went to try and remember that dream.
He got some charcoal and paper and, at his desk, started sketching his nightmare.
The nightmare had the facial features of the lepers he saw illustrated in his religious children's books, but he was clothed in dark, luxurious robes instead of rags. Another sketch of the nightmare had him looking around 19, handsome with a face seemingly only slightly disfigured, but with eyes that seemed he had lived many times over.
It evoked a sort of primal 'dread' deep within the caverns of his mind. Dreams were so interesting, how they had cobbled this appearance out of old memories and attached it to the memory of a random client and how that could actually affect him emotionally in the waking world was beyond him.
He also felt a feeling of.. belonging, of feeling like a fly in a spider's web that wanted to be eaten as he sketched the castle walls and hallways and-- Oh!
Looks like it's time for church. He got himself up and met with his beloved Mina so they could walk there together.
