Chapter Text
CAROLINE POV
Honestly, I don't know what I should start telling you about this story, because it's interesting and a little long. But maybe I should begin with my introduction since you don't even know who I am, and I'm the most important character in this tale... Well, maybe I'm not the most important because someone else's actions set everything in motion, although I may be the second most important person since I play a very special part in this story, but I should start with the beginning, maybe at the beginning of my story.
My name is Caroline (my first name is actually Holly, but only my mother and other adults around me call me like that), and I'm the only daughter of the cold Snow Queen, one of the greatest villains of all, with the ability to control everything related to winter like snow, ice and more things like that.
Yeah, I know that my mom isn't a villain as known as Maleficent, Ursula, or Jafar; but she's still an evil and dangerous person to be feared, so everyone around expects me to be as evil as her, or worse, practically since I was born; they expect me to be cold, horrible, manipulative and cruel just like her. I've always had to prove to everybody that I'm a worthy daughter to my mother, to her in particular, due to the burden of her reputation I carry over my shoulders. Wait a minute, maybe you don't even know who I'm actually talking about, I should tell you about her so you'll get it.
A very long time ago in a kingdom far, far away in the mountains that was called Frostmore, there was the Queen, a woman so cold, evil and heartless that she was considered similar to Winter. She ruled her land with icy fist, with guards and hunters who spent their time following her orders, no matter how violent and cruel they were. One day, a King from a neighboring land heard rumors of her and how everybody feared her, including several legends about her Icy Garden, full of human-like statues, so he decided to go and confront her with his army. However, his plan failed because the Queen got rid of some of his soldiers and turned others into human ice statues, which were left trapped in the garden, leaving the King alive to send him a message not to mess with her ever again. But he didn't want to leave the matter unresolved, so he returned to that kingdom to confront the woman.
The King tried several other times to fight the Queen to demonstrate his strength and to help those who feared her winter powers and her reputation, but every fight ended the same way: with the King and his pride crushed by another failure. While the Queen enjoyed all the entertainment that endless war generated, but at one point she began to get tired so she decided to nip her problem in the bud with an idea: using ingredients obtained by winter fairies and her powers, the Queen made a magic mirror that would reflect only a person flaws and worst aspects, hiding all the goodness of what was reflected. She then had two monsters made of snow and ice to take it to the highest mountain, where they shattered it causing the crystals to fall on the people of the neighboring kingdom, who influenced by the wrath and resentment, attacked each other in a quite cruel way, and in the end the Queen sent her violent soldiers to the castle where the King who bothered her was, ordering them to take him to her for one last fight.
The Queen fought the King face to face, without soldiers in between, while her warriors attacked the remaining inhabitants of the village. The King ended up falling with his people while the Queen, who was actually known as the Snow Queen, rose triumphantly in a new victory and enjoyed her peace once more, but even though the Queen didn't want it, everything would one day fall, and her downfall was already being planned by the Season Witches. Said witches had discovered a magic urn capable of imprisoning any creature near it, so they banded together to confront the Queen one last time. All of them managed to overwhelm her with their combined powers and fire, despite her strength and intelligence, and the Snow Queen became white smoke, staying imprisoned in the urn.
I know, my mom was so incredible and evil then with her dark plans, spreading both fear and coldness wherever she went. Everyone had heard about her and her tricks at some point, almost everyone was scared of her, so that and more was expected of her daughter; you know, like ice like snow (that's what Mom says, don't judge me). We all have a reputation to uphold here, and there are those who have it better than others, but I'm in the latter one for having such a mother and I can never stop thinking about this. Even almost all the bad guys here on the Isle of the Lost are terrified of her, which is why I've been trying to make a name for myself, and this place is full of the most wicked villains, sidekicks and stepmothers of all. Basically the most interesting people, such as my mom who was trapped forever, or more rather until somebody took her out of the urn and trapped her here on the Isle of the Lost.
Twenty-seven years ago, when Cinderella finally married Prince Thomas Charmant, or more like Prince Charming how he's called here, he suggested uniting all of the kingdoms and start to call them the United States of Auradon (even though everyone calls it Auradon, they gave it a great name for nothing), then the two of them along with their royal bloodline (it's boring, I got one too) were elected the King and the Queen of the place. The new King rounded up all of the villains and sent them to the Isle of the Lost, some type of prison with a magical invisible barrier so we would all ended up trapped here (at least he tries to make this place decent... I will never say it again). This island is my only home, no magic, no Wi-Fi, and no way out. The Isle of the Lost is everything my wicked friends and I know... wait, you don't know them yet. Don't worry, you will meet us soon.
But before anything, this happened...
