Chapter Text
Branzy hid behind a crate, his purple cloak wrapped around his body as he tried to control his breathing.
He had been sent on a mission, with Rekrap as his partner once again like always. The only problem was that Rekrap was nowhere to be found despite having seen him near the start of the mission while planning.
Branzy grit his teeth, trying to stay quiet as he heard footsteps pass by the crate he was hiding behind. He heard a voice, but had to strain to hear it.
"-got him, but now what?"
"We wait for boss' orders, obviously."
"What if he wakes up?"
"We knock him back out."
"You know that's gonna be hard knowing his power."
"We use the power suppresants then."
"Isn't that only for emergencies?"
"In the situation he wakes up, it's emergency enough."
"Fine."
Branzy's heart sank and he could only think that Rekrap got captured and knocked out. Okay, Branzy, it's okay. Rekrap will be just fine. Maybe they're talking about someone else!
That would've actually eased him if it weren't for the fact he peeked over the crate to see Rekrap being dragged by the hood of his neon yellow and blue jacket.
Branzy tried to not let himself have a heart attack right there and then. Branzy fumbled with the communicator on his utility belt, his fingers shaking as he sent a message to his team.
< Lavender > SEDNF BACKUP
< Lavender > REKRAP CAPTURED
Branzy then started to ping his location many times to his team in pure panic. Fingers still trembling, he tried to put his communicator back on his belt-
CLACK
It slipped out of his hands, the communicator clattering loudly on the floor.
"What was that?"
One of the criminals perked up.
"We should go check it out."
The other one murmured, already starting to creep towards Branzy's hiding spot.
Branzy was about to have a heart attack right there, scrambling to grab his communicator and clip it back onto his belt. He had to think fast- Before they saw him.. He looked around, hoping there would be something to help.
He was in an abandoned warehouse, crates and shelves of items everywhere. Concrete floors and walls, a tall ceiling, and many doors. He wasn't sure where those doors led or which ones were locked or not, unfortunately. Branzy narrowed his eyes. Maybe he could climb the shelves? But where would he go from there.. Go through one of the doors? Risky, but possible. He inhaled sharply, dashing for the door closest to him. His fingers wrapped around the cold metal of the door handle and turned. It was unlocked! How lucky for him! He slipped in and shut it behind him, locking it from inside the room.
Branzy could hear the muffled voices of the criminals through the door,
"Huh. Must've been nothing?"
"How stupid are you? It's always something. Get someone to search the area, idiot."
"Okay, okay!"
"Just keep them out of the locked rooms, they're confidential."
"Got it!"
Branzy let out a sigh of relief. Seems he was safe for now. All he had to do was wait for backup. He backed away from the door, scanning the room. It seemed like an office of some kind. A desk in the middle, a chair sat at it. A few papers on top of the desk lay there. They seemed to be signed? Branzy creeped towards the papers. This whole mission was to figure out who ran this organization, so maybe this would help.
He walked behind the desk, taking one of the papers and taking a close look at it. The paper was something about a shipment. A shipment of VERY ILLEGAL items. He looked down at the signature.
Oh dear.
Right there on the paper, written in an elegant cursive, was the name Clown.
It was safe to say Branzy and Rekrap were fucked. Well, Rek was at least. They knew Rekrap was there, while they didn't know Branzy was there too. As long as he stayed quiet and hidden, he was completely safe. No need for confrontation, no need for a VERY DANGEROUS assassin chasing him down. That just made him worry for Rek even more, though. Okay, Branzy. Stay hidden. Quiet and hidden.
Branzy placed the paper back down, starting to snoop through the rest of the office. There was a chance to get information, so he was gonna take it. He opened a drawer, seeing nothing in particular he deemed interesting, he went to open a different one.
He repeated that process for a bit, grabbing a few of the signed documents and taking pictures of them for later. Branzy hummed quietly, not seeing anything else he wanted to get evidence of.
Branzy heard a loud crash outside the door.
"Fuck- are those vigilantes?!"
"Just fight them, damn it!"
He ran to the door. No time like now was better to get Rekrap out of there while they were distracted fighting what he assumed was the backup he called. He opened the door quietly, shutting it behind him and hiding back behind the crates.
It was pretty loud out there. Lots of yelling and sounds of crashing and gunshots. Branzy had no time to dwell on that. He needed to get Rek out of there.
Branzy snuck along the walls, trying to see where they could've possibly put Rek. He opened doors. He opened a LOT of doors. Every room he checked was empty, until he got to the one he was currently in. Rek was in the middle of the room, tied to the chair. He took the pocket knife he had off his utility belt and rushed to Rekrap's side, cutting through rope quickly. Rekrap was still unconcious, so Branzy would have to carry him.
He heaved Rek out of the chair and over his shoulder. Holy, why was Rek so HEAVY?! Branzy grit his teeth, using every ounce of strength in getting them out of there. He snuck along the wall of the warehouse again, past the fight that seemed 10x bloodier than he left it, and out of the large warehouse doors. Thankfully, without being caught.
Branzy carried Rekrap all the way to the abandoned apartment complex his team called their base. Which was a pretty long walk, so his shoulders were sore as hell. He let out a sigh of relief. He was just glad Rek was safe. He sat down next to Rekrap, which was placed on the couch and still unconcious.
Today was... quite eventful, to say the least. Not to mention, he still had his whole bartending thing to do after this! How annoying.
Oh well.
