Chapter Text
Bakugo tried relaxing into the airplane seat as much as possible but jeez did he hate flying. Ironic since technically with his quirk he was up in the air half the time but that was different! Fight and flying, two different stories, well.. According to him that is. He glanced at the other side of the aisle, Midoriya was knocked out and judging from the very loud snores coming from the back of the small private plane, Kirishima was lights out. Poor guys had probably stayed up looking into as many clues as possible despite Bakugo’s concerns.
Dumbasses..
Staring outside of the window on his right, he watched the white fluffy clouds almost engulf the majority of the plane. Seeing as the view wasn't going to change anytime soon, he pulled out his phone, desperate to keep his mind busy. Stupidly his fingers brought him back to the social media app he had been on hours ago. His thumb hovered over her name. How could a Pro-Hero, a man who’d spend years into being his most peak form, a man who was able to withstan any sort of pressure or torture not breaking even a tad, a man who faced the worst villains daily and yet, one woman had his brain scattered.
He felt his cheeks warming up, Nope.. Instinctively he shut his phone off.
Slowly Bakugo looked around the short cabin, Fuck it..
His phone revived once more, the screen’s light shining onto his face. This time he pressed on to her profile with ease scrolling through her page not haphazardly, like he'd done before when Mr. Tanaka had told him to like all her posts to further push dating rumors. No, this time he was actually really looking at them. It was obvious why she was a model, a perfect figure, flawless skin, a unique look against all the other bland models he’d seen. Y/N somehow made any fabric shine. In his most professional opinion bing the son of two fashion designers, he found her to be..excellent. His mother loved her, constantly wanting to design more and more clothes for her. Thankfully he'd push off Y/N and his mother meeting for as long as he had. He did not need his mother bombarding her. But what captivated him was her eyes.
Thinking about it now, he’d always been captivated by her. He remembered the first time he had heard of her. Way before this whole fake dating scheme was constructed. It had been Mina who shared with him about Y/N.
“Trust me guys, she's sooo cool,” Mina had spent the whole night practically fangirling over Y/N, “Talk about comeback, she left Japan for 2 years and the boom! She has every brand wanting to work with her” Truthfully, that wasn't really how the story went but Mina had been so drunk out of her mind and mixed all that fangirling, it was basically a compilation of praises with glorification of Y/N’s accomplishments. Then again, it wasn't like Bakugo was really listening, he figured it was one of those random IG models who Mina overly got obsessed with. Bakugo paused, now that he thought about it, he really didn't know a lot about Y/N, just what everyone else knew. Bakugo was aware of her failed Pro-Hero career, her sudden disappearance from seemingly the world, and thanks to Mina he had heard about some speculations fans had about why she left. If he could remember correctly it had something to do with drugs? No, maybe a dating scandal? A violation? God, he couldn't remember, he cursed himself for not paying attention before. Bakugo paused, he had his phone he could just look it up!
His fingers quickly typed into his phone's search engine; “Y/N Hiatus why?” As if his phone was synced to his head the search bar automatically filled his words and with a press into the enter key. Bakugo watched as his phone screen filled with different conspiracy tabloids. This felt wrong, he could always ask, or wait until she said something. It wont hurt to peek..? He pressed onto the top article, his eyes reading as quickly as possible.
Rumors…But what kind-
She had…fallen in love?!
Bakugo shut his phone off, feeling himself getting annoyed. Y/N?! Quit for a guy?! That was stupid, even Bakugo knew she was more level headed than that. That doesn't even explain the whole career change..
Bakugo scoffed, how dare someone write something so stupid and false. Before he could even really think about it he was texting one of the tech-support from his agency on how to take down an article. He told himself he was just holding his end of the bargain. She pulled her weight by helping him get a month off from their fake dating. Yea, this was just Bakugo paying the favor back, a totally normal thing to do.
Plus...his girlfriend shouldn't have tabloids shaming her.
Needless to say, Bakugo refused to let himself open his phone for the rest of the flight.

“It’s fascinating..”
“..death?”
“What– NO! I–” The man turned in his seat, almost raising his hand up in surrender to the three Pro-Heros. The man in question was a junior forensic linguist, who Midoriya had somehow found and was in contact with for several weeks.
“I’m pulling your leg,” Kirishima laughed.
“Oh, right,” the man turned back to the photo, a small magnifier in his hand he used to inspect the lettering. Kirishima gave his own awkward glance to the other two, one of which Bakugo reciprocated to Midoriya. In response to the two, Midoriya rolled his eyes. He had a feeling the guy in front of them would really help them despite his lack of people skills. “Judging from the matter of how the letters are shaped, I would guess..,” He had spunned back to them, handing the photos back, “these are all different people, not a single one was done by the same person”
“..You mean to say there’s multiple killers..” Midoriya crossed his arms. This new discovery meant they would have to rethink all of their prior theories. Bakugo watched as the forensic gave a polite smile before turning back to his work. Really? They came all the way here to just have some nerd tell them they were off on whatever progress they had made.
“How can we even trust him?” Bakugo started questioning as the three of them made their way out. “We’re the ones who've been on this case for months and now we have to restart just because some nerd–”
“He’s an expert” Midoriya countered.
“He’s wrong, we have one killer not a pack!” Bakugo argued back, throwing his arms up. Looking for some sort of back up, Bakugo glanced at his red haired friend.
“..Well,” Kirishima bit his bottom lip, “...he’s not fully wrong,” Bakugo scoffed, great even Kirishima had gone mad. “Theres another reason we flew all the way here, I..I managed to get into contact with a Pro-Hero and– to make a long story short, this ‘killer’ didn't start in Japan, he started killing here..”
Bakugo furrowed his brows, “What are you saying?”
“A couple years back, I’d say 20? The police in Houston got a call about a neighbor wanting to do a wellness check on their neighbor," Kirishima explained to the other two Heros as they made way to a taxi cab Midoriya had called for, “When the police got there.. They found..”
“..The same thing we found..” Bakugo finished, “Well, what are we doing? Let’s get the case files”
Kirishima smirked, holding up his phone, “I’m going to meet the lead detective that was on the case and he's going to give me a copy of all the evidence they have.” All three of them decided as Kirishima went to collect the remaining puzzle pieces they needed, the other two would go ahead and look over what they currently had. They needed to start from zero if they wanted to find their culprits.
