Magic is weird, so is family

Chapter 3: End.

Summary:

He's home.

Notes:

I dunno what this turned into to be honest. I should've just kept it as a one shot lmao. I'm a sad bean who really had no direction for this, just wanted to pour fluff, angst, and magic into this. So there we are.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

He jolts awake to an intense buzz of worry vibrating throughout his skull.

He doesn’t know how long he’s been asleep by the river, doesn’t know when he even slipped into rest, just knows that everyone in the bond is worried over something and he’s not there to help it.

His disappearance is the logical reason of that worry.

He sits up, wrapping himself deeper in his jacket. It wasn’t cold or chilly, he just likes the feeling of safety it gives him.

He makes his way back to their home, sending out light signals coated in gold that says he’s alright, he just fell asleep somewhere, that he’s sorry; he tries his best to put unsaid words in it that he somehow knows they’ll pick up on.

He feels a dull pain in his back, probably from falling asleep on hard ground. He adds a pain remedy potion to his long list of projects. He’s falling behind in his work, something neither of them can truly afford, or else they cannot earn the necessary amount of money for survival.

He walks down the path silently, no noise other than his shoes against the gravel path. Their home is kinda cliche, someplace you’d almost expect magic folk to live. That’s why they like it.

He picks at his fingernails, mind going too fast for his sleepy brain. He’ll go through everything when he has the time. Now, he needs to have an explanation for his sudden disappearance.

He does feel bad for falling asleep. He doesn’t need to cause his (husbands?) more trouble than he’s already done. He’s done too much.

He settles on honesty for his explanation and he can feel the reassuring buzz of Seokjin deep in his mind.

---

When he opens the door to their home he’s bombarded with questions and worryful spells.

“Where were you?” “Are you okay?” “Are you hurt anywhere?” “Do I need to hex someone?”

Namjoon chuckles humorlessly, “I was by the river, yes I’m fine, no I’m not hurt, hexing is unnecessary Hoseok.”

Jin grasps his hands, Namjoon staring into his multicolored eyes, “You worried us Joonie,” his voice is soft, and Namjoon frowns, eyes flickering to the ground.

“I’m sorry everyone. I was by the river and I didn’t even realize I fell asleep. I didn’t mean to worry you all,”

He doesn’t know when the tears start building up, but they do and he doesn’t try to stop them.

He’s gathered into a hug and based on the cold body and shivers spreading through him, it’s Yoongi pressing small kisses on his face.

He tries to curl into the kaleidoscope of love that surrounds him. Cold, warm, scorching, airy. They all seep into his veins and he feels like he’s drunk on safety and the beauty of magic.

At least he’s home with hot chocolate in his hands and the room glowing with misty light.
