Chapter Text
“Shit.”
The single word echoed out to the unexpected visitors ears. These visitors happening to be close allies with Katsuki. One a conscientious male alpha, named Eijiro Kirishima. He had spiky locks of dyed scarlet hair. It was supposedly supposed to resemble pure strength and match his lionhearted soul. In Katsuki’s mind, he will always choose to believe the idiot just dunked his head too deep into a freshly hunted deer. Yeah, that sounded like a more interesting story than representing some bull shit heroism or what not.
The other cave intruder was a perky pink omega, known as Mina Ashido. Her being kin of the Eastern Scaled dragons, gave her human form more aspects resembling her dragon form. Her skin a blush pink, hair a shade paler. Two dandelion yellow horns twisted above her fluffy short hair. And as a contrast to the pale color scheme, her long black eyelashes and black eyes certainly did the trick of standing out. Even her irises held a golden hue.
Both Eijiro and Mina were pining after one another, even having a few obvious intimate nights together. But, neither had the fucking guts to talk to each other, no matter how obvious they drooled over the other’s affection.
The problematic bond between his visitors however weren’t the problem. It was the fact that they needed to leave his cavern now before they get a wift of the alive human being.
“Go lay in the pelts and stay quiet, Deku.” Katsuki barked out quietly between him and the shorter human. He headed towards the room that held his rich stash. “And if you go anywhere else then it was your own damn fault for not heading to my advice.”
After making his commands, Katsuki dashed to find the pair marveling at his massive collection. Kirishima was attempting to cover his giggles with his right palm overtop his mouthful of fangs. His scarlet eyes watching Mina trying to smuggle some of Katsuki’s stash, hands buried deep in a pile of shiny coins, jewels, and ingots.
“Get your filthy claws off my treasure, I didn’t work my ass off just to have you to come crawl up in my damn space and steal my hard earned gold right in front of my very fucking eyes!” Katsuki’s anger finally woke up, proof seen in his burning red eyes. The two shifters however were unphased by the common rampages the blonde spewed out. Mina fished her hands out of the pile with a mighty handful of Katsuki’s belongings. Sighing through her nose, she let the treasure fall back to it’s rightful place. Mina and Eijiro now faced their angered friend, smiling like perfect angels who have never committed a single crime in their lives. But Katsuki knew damn well that dragons had horns and not golden floating halos above their heads.
“Empty your sack Mina, I am not playing.”
“Wow, he saw right through you this time, Pinky”
Mina only grunted in reply, as she flipped her small cloth sack inside out, ridding more of the shiny substance to the floor. She clipped it back to her belt for later use.
“Now that that is over, Bakubro, how was the ceremony? Or should I ask about the taste of the hu-,” Kirishima was cut short in his questioning as Katsuki’s voice spoke over his.
“You are never this quiet, spit it all out, Raccoon eyes.” Katsuki held out his open palm just below Mina’s pink chin.
“Sh-I hab no idea wab you mean,” she bluffs, only resulting in a death stare with the blonde. Her lips pouted slightly before looking down at the needy hand. Three saliva coated cubical shaped diamonds came out and landed on the now slickened hand. This didn’t really affect him tough, dragons didn’t care too much for dirty or grimy filth. It would either fly off of them when they flew, or bathed. Mina takes her thumb and index fingers to pinch the end of the last belonging, and out she pulled a threaded pearl necklace. Each pearl popping out from her lips, until reaching the very end of the necklace clasp. The necklace was placed along with the diamonds, which Bakugou only threw back into his pile with little care.
“Gosh, you are no fun. What's the matter, human not as good as it sounded to have?” Mina complained, but Katsuki took the fact that his pelt idea worked. The pelts and assorted fabrics he sleeps on must have been enough to mask the human’s scent. Now Katsuki just has to worry on keeping the two goons away and out of his business.
“There’s nothing to celebrate here. The whole ceremony went well and fast, that’s all there was to it. So scram numbskulls.” Katsuki declared as he points his thumb to the incline that leads up his cave’s entrance. However, the clue didn’t lock into the pair’s mind at all. They just brushed his words aside as they stomped further into his home, in the opposite direction in which he pointed to.
“It’s unlike you to brush off a alpha honor like that, Bakugou.”
“Yeah, I remember you kept boasting about the mountain range that you were the chosen alpha.” Mina replied to the red head.
Gritting his teeth, Katsuki swiftly made his way to stand before them, blocking their path from entering his sleeping den.
“Get the fuck out of here, I’m obviously not in the fucking mood to celebrate a honor I already fulfilled. Now go crawl into some other shit hole.”
As Katsuki ranted, Kirishima picked up an unfamiliar scent. It was very faint compared the the aroma of spice and smoke that filled the air, but he wasn’t the only one to notice. He turned to see Mina’s eye locked into his own, her gaze confused yet curious. Ejiro turned back to the rambling blond then peered over his shoulder, yet was unfortunate when his sight was blocked by fluffy white feathers.
“Dumbass, my eyes are here. Don’t be fucking rude in my cave,” The blonde barked. Seriously, this idiot of a friend had some nerve to test his patience. He finally snapped when he caught Mina heading for a mad dash straight into his sleeping quarters. And just before he could shout her out, Ejiro joined in on the invasive run.
Just perfect.
Katsuki followed, but wasn’t quick enough to stop his secret from being revealed. Both Eijiro and Mina stood, gaping at the sight before them. On top of Katsuki’s bedding, laid a small, freckled, shivering human.
His human.
Katsuki places both of his heated palms on top of Mina and Ejiro’s shoulder. “Get out and forget this, spare on word of the moment with anyone else and I’ll gladly skin your scales and sell them to a nearby market.” Katsuki warned, letting a growl purposely slip from his curled lips.
The uninvited visitors left his room, leaving Katsuki and the greenette alone. With a sigh, Katsuki closed in on the human, sitting next to him on the fabrics.
“Calm down, Deku, they are almost gone.” Katsuki ran his hand through the green curls, causing Izuku to stop shivering from fear, but instead stared questionly back at the blonde. It must have been confusing for his offering. He was given as a sacrifice, presumed to die in the claws of the alpha captor. Instead, he was alive and left with a dragon unknown to shift. Katsuki knew the troubles that drifted through Deku’s mind, some drifting through his very own. But he made his choice, and he wasn’t backing down now. Katsuki rose from his spot beside Deku, fingers untangling from the garden of curls.
To Katsuki’s disliking, both Mina and Ejiro stood in waiting. No words were spoken. Only awkward glances and silence. Mina nudged her potential companion, coaxing him to speak his mind. Opposite of what Katsuki wanted right now.
“You know we usually don’t question your antics no matter how silly they are, but I have no idea where this one is heading, and if we have to be honest Bakugou, we are concerned.”
Ejiro wasn’t one to rely on fancy words to get through to Katsuki, but this wasn’t just him speaking. Mina’s eyes stayed to the ground, thick lashes fluttering open and closed. The red head was speaking for both of them.
Guilt plagued the blond’s mind for only a second or two. But no more than two. He had to much to fret over at the moment. His silence only left the gate open for Kirishima to speak more.
“It just makes no sense to us, it’s not like we didn’t see you petting his head and trying to calm his nerves down as if he were your ma-,” Ejiro stopped at his sudden realization. All he could do is lift his gaze to the other alpha before stuttering on his next sentence.
“Bakugo….you didn’t... I uh...oh my gods.”
“I didn’t what shitty hair?”
“Bakugou, d-did you imprint on the human?”
Silence was the only response Kirishima got. The blonde however had thoughts screaming warning alerts to be on edge. His friends may be an odd pair of idiots, but they certainly hit the nail straight through the wooden point.
“And so what if I did, is there any harm in me liking what was fucking given to me, huh?” Katsuki replied, not with anger, nor sarcasm, but with a calm tone that neither were used to. Mina took in a deep breath then released it. Calming a few of her nerves down before she started to console with her friend.
“You do understand that humans don’t have the same system we have when it comes to companionship, right? If your intention is to keep him alive, then there is no way he’ll even make it past your approaching rut.” After Mina’s small talk, something clicked in the red head’s mind.
“Now that you mention it, is that why you imprinted on him? Cause your rut is soon?” He thought out loud, hoping it might make some sense of the situation.
“Yeah, I think Ejiro is onto something here. Good thinking there buddy!” Mina praised and awarded Ejiro by combing her fingers through his dyed spiked, and scratching his scalp. The scene made Katsuki want to hurl while the other alpha was gleaming with a innocent smile at the attention. “If that’s the case though, something must have caught Sir Grumpy’s eye then.” Mina continued to tease while also massaging her slender fingers into the alpha’s scalp.
Katsuki wanted to say something. Anything. But his lips stayed sealed. Mina’s last words were what really pulled together why Katsuki spared the human’s life. It was his eyes that his inner alpha admired. Two, beautiful round emeralds, that fit perfectly in his collection, or rather Katsuki’s sleeping quarters.
Deku, unlike any other treasure, was alive. He contains emotion, power, and beauty that was yet to be discovered. True Katsuki could blame this all on his approaching rut, but damn, the human was so captivating and alluring no matter how Katsuki tried to view him. What he need to conclude whatever he felt towards the human, whether it be possession, or desire, was time.
“You guys can go theorize all you want about whatever me and this human are up to, but get out of my territory and do it in your own dens for all I care. Just get lost already.” The blonde finished his final parting words with Mina and Ejiro and tuned back to his sleeping quarters.
Footsteps walking through the gold flooded floors sounded from behind the ash blonde as he walked the opposite direction of the echoing sounds. Soon enough he was face to face with the greenette again. Deku had his eyes drawn to the floor, his fingers twiddling with the fraying fabric threads.
“May I ask you another question?” Deku asked hesitantly. Katsuki grinned after hearing his soft voice, a voice that sounded as heavenly as an angel compared to the bubbly and raspy voices from earlier. He took the offering’s chin and tilted his direction to look up and make eye contact.
“I’m feeling pretty generous towards you right now, so ask away.” Katsuki offered, hoping the atmosphere would lose the awkward tensity they both shared.
“If not to eat me, then what purpose do I serve you?”
Deku took a shaky breath for himself.
“Why am I not dead?”
