Summary
In a world where magic is all but forgotten, Katsuki Bakugo has never questioned it. From as far back as he could remember magic has come in the form of quick flashes of green hair and emerald eyes, the sound of wings fluttering and softly whispered conversations, and most tangibly, a tiny little present he’d find each Christmas.
As he gets older the peeks of his tiny magic friend grow more and more distant, replaced with all the distractions that fill Katsuki’s adult life, but still the small presents come every Christmas without fail.
Now at age 25, with the holidays fast approaching and the death of his parents only a few months prior, Katsuki’s world has never been farther from the magic of his youth. “Oi! You three!” a new voice called from behind. The group stopped to look back at a single figure. He was blond and angry looking, standing half a block away, between Izuku and his apartment. His crimson eyes narrowed. “You wouldn’t happen to be poaching on my territory, would you?”
Huh?
“Of course not,” the leader of the group said, suddenly amiable. “He’s wearing a collar, after all. He’s one of ours. Can’t poach what’s already yours.”
Izuku bit his lip.
“Oi, broccoli-head, where do you live?” the blonde demanded.
“Don’t tell him,” the leader ordered, but Izuku’s eyes were already trailing up to his apartment, one block away, three floors up.
So close, yet so far.
The blonde grinned savagely. “Poaching it is.”

Katsuki looks down at the green dragon, his expression unreadable when it lets out the quietest squeak. "Gonna be a pain in our ass, this one."
Izuku nods. His eyes are very wet, but there's a chance Katsuki can't see it in the darkness—although that looks to be giving way to dawn.
"That's okay!" he says. "We'll look after him."
