Chapter Text
Toga picked at her fingers absentmindedly, bored out of her mind. Recently, the days away from Tsuyu had become oh so dull. Maybe it's because the League hadn't involved her in anything (she was just itching to rip someone's throat out) or maybe it was since Dabi had been out so often. Either way, the point still stood that she wanted, needed a bit of excitement. Even if it was just stabbing some nobody, she wanted to get some blood on her hands.
Toga instantly shot up as her phone pinged, turning it on. She was disappointed to see it was a text from Ashido.
Hey girlie <3 school is killing me
The blonde sighed. She adored Ashido, she really did. They had even hung out on occasion (Toga masquerading as Himoto) but that's not who she wanted to talk to right now.
She wanted Tsu, her lovely beautiful Tsu. She wondered if her darling was having fun without her. She surely wasn't as dependent as Toga was. If she was, she would have answered her phone. What if Tsuyu was getting tired of her? The very thought had her bristling. What if she had found someone else?
That thought sent her into a rage. She would kill anyone who was a threat, of course. If she couldn't have Tsuyu, no one else should. It would be a pain if she had to hurt one of her sweetheart's friends, but if it had too be done it would be done.
Then again, Tsuyu was friends with such lovely specimens. To imagine the things she could do to them. What if she were to trace a knife through Midoriya's scars, to saw off Ashido's horns, to lob off one of Jirou's ear jacks? Would they scream? What of her favorite fantasy, to cut Tsuyu's tongue off?
That train of thought had her considerably more relaxed, as she turned to her phone.
I'm bored too yknow Tsu hasnt responded to me all day :(
It took Ashido less than a minute to respond, Isnt she taking you to that carnival???
A few moments later, I mean i have no clue what thats about bye!!!
Ah, so that's what it was. Tsuyu was planning something nice for her. It made sense. She had no reason to go cut someone up.
(She was a little disappointed by that but who cares?)
"What are you doing, freak?" Dabi demanded walking up to her.
"Dabi! My bestie!" Toga hugged the man, "How are you doing?"
"Don't turn the question around on me," he scolded, yet he had the faintest smile.
"Aw, fine. You're no fun sometimes!" she spun on her heel, "Well, I just found out my darling Tsu is planning an extra special date for me!"
Dabi hummed in acknowledgement, "S' that so?"
"Yup! Ain't it just the sweetest thing? It'll be so great!"
"You really like her, huh?" It was an observation, not an accusation.
Toga knitted her eyes together all the same, clearly confused, "Well, she's my girlfriend so..."
"Fair, but that's hardly the point. I'm just surprised you haven't cut her up yet."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Come on," Dabi rolled his eyes, "You've said it yourself. When you like people, you end up hurting them, and yet...she's still breathing."
Toga frowned, he was right. Why hadn't she tore Tsuyu apart yet? She certainly thought about it, "Whatever."
At her biting tone, he softened, something he very rarely did, "Look crazy, I'm just trying to look out for you. Last thing we need is this going south. So be careful and enjoy your date."
After that, Dabi stalked off picking at his earings. He may have not shown it often, but he was rather good at comforting people. Almost like he was used to it.
"You know," Toga called out, "you would be an amazing big brother. At least, I wish I had one like you. Would've made the world an easier place. For me at least!"
It was near imperceptible, but his shoulders got slightly tense at that. There was a long moment where Toga could just feel the tension in the air. If she raised her knife, she very well may have been able to slice it.
He walked away.
Despite Ashido having "no idea" why Tsuyu hadn't texted her, Toga did get a text a mere hour later, inviting her to a carnival. She assured the other that she would be there soon, and she was.
It took her some time, but eventually, she did spy Tsuyu. Toga could just die on the spot! She looked so cute! Her hair was in a little bun and gah! She couldn't handle it!
Of course, Tsuyu would look even cuter after a little scare.
Quietly, Toga crept up behind her, before grabbing her waist and shouting, "Boo!"
Instantly, Tsuyu spun around, hitting Toga in the nose, "Ribbit!"
"Ouch!" Toga groaned, rubbing her face, "Why'd you do that?"
"Sorry, sorry. But come on, you should have known better than to sneak up on me," Tsuyu mumbled.
"Maybe, but you're so cute when you're startled."
Tsuyu sighed, apparently deciding the argument wasn't worth it, "Fine. So, is there anything you would like to do in particular?"
"I...don't know. I've never been to a a carnival."
The frog girl gave a long pause, before her eyes lit up, "I think I have an idea of something you'll like."
It took a few minutes, but Toga was eventually guided to a large structure.
"Is that a ?"
"Yup, a carousel, ribbit."
Toga grinned, shivering in anticipation, "Tsu, you are amazing! I'm gonna beat you, though!"
"Beat me? I don't think you understand how..."
"I'm gonna' win!"
"You can try," Tsuyu giggled, "You seem to be good at that."
"Hey! Don't you make fun of me," Toga grumbled, trying to mount one of the horses.
She may have been putting up a fuss, but she couldn't quite mind. Tsuyu was so lovely when she laughed. Of course, Tsuyu was always lovely, but that was hardly the point.
Toga was left in awe as Tsuyu mounted a horse in a swift motion. That, was true talent. That right there: amazing.
She quickly vocalized this, "Wow Tsu, you're so cool."
"Oh, ah, not really..."
"Nope, you're super awesome."
"I don't think..."
They could have gone on like that for some time, if it weren't for the ride starting up. To Toga's utter disappointment, it seemed she had misunderstood how exactly the ride worked. It was not a race, just a ride. That was totally ridiculous and Toga would stand behind that. However, none of this stopped Toga from acting like they were racing.
"You'll never catch up to me!" she called as her horse rose higher, "Maybelle's the fastest there is."
Tsuyu broke into laughter, "You're ridiculous!"
Toga felt a warm feeling blossom in her chest. She liked it when she got Tsuyu to laugh, "What's 'ridiculous' is you not taking this race seriously!"
Tsuyu let out a weak, 'yee-haw' before bursting into chuckles once more.
Once the ride was over, Toga couldn't even begin to hide how wide she was grinning. That was some of the most fun she had since she had killed someone. A morbid thought, but when it came to someone like her it was still quite impressive.
"I'm just surprised you haven't cut her up yet," Dabi's words echoed in her mind.
Toga resisted the very, very strong urge to claw out her own eyeballs. She hated her stupid brain, constantly reminding her of things she didn't want to think about. The whole situation had her stressed. She wanted to get some relief. She needed someone to bleed. She needed to grab someone by the throat and stab and stab until all she could see was red, flooding her vision. She needed to taste the warm liquid on her tongue, to squeeze until they couldn't breathe. She needed to look at that person as the light faded from their eyes.
"Himiko," Tsuyu called, "come over here, ribbit. I want to get on the Ferris wheel with you."
No, no, all she needed was her darling Tsu, who would do nothing but care for her.
"Oh, yeah totally!" even to Toga, her laugh sounded fake.
Tsuyu held out her hand, helping her into the cart. As they progressed upwards, Toga could feel the tension in the air, not unlike the one she had felt earlier.
Once they had reached the top, Tsuyu took a deep breath, "Look honestly, I brought you here for a selfish reason. I just...I want you to know that I don't expect you to respond to this any particular way, ribbit. I just needed to get this off my chest."
Her chest? Forget that, Toga's own chest felt as though it might explode, "Shoot, sweetie!"
Tsuyu looked intently at Toga, "I think I'm in love with you, Himiko."
"Huh?" Toga responded intelligently.
"I know, I know," Tsuyu put a finger to her lips, "I just wanted you to be aware. Don't feel the need to say the same back. We can just go enjoy the carnival now. We can go dunk someone?"
Toga could sense how nervous Tsuyu was. She wanted too get rid of that anxiety, "Yeah! I'm super good at those games."
"Oh, ah, good...great," Tsuyu put a hand over Toga's.
There, now that the problem was solved, Toga could focus on that other one. Did she love Tsuyu back? Tsuyu was amazing, that wasn't being contested, but did Toga truly love her. Hell, she didn't know if she had the capacity to love. She knew she was an utter mess. Tsuyu deserved better and yet, it tore Toga apart to think of her being gone. More than that, what of her own desires to tear the other limb from limb. Tsuyu knew she was dangerous and yet she poured her heart out. It was all so strange.
She had a lot to talk to Dabi about.
