slit my wrists and watch that blood evaporate

Summary:

Toga doesn't like how her sweet Tsuyu is acting. No, not at all.

Work Text:

Toga was tired, oh so tired. If it were up to her she would take a break, spend the whole day in bed, maybe kill someone. However, her darling Tsuyu had asked her out to lunch, and how could she say no to that? It was odd to an extent, the vigor with which she had invited her. Not that Toga minded in the least, any time with her beloved was time well spent.

She was still really tired, though.

Toga yawned, shuffling through her music playlist. She needed to get something good. She really should just upgrade and get that membership. Only six skips an hour? Useless. Maybe she could steal someones credit card.

Before she could determine which dope would be the easiest to swipe from, she heard a familiar voice, "Himiko, ribbit. There you are."

"Daw, were you looking for me?" Toga turned around, delighted to see her lovely hero of a girlfriend.

"Yes, but that's not so strange when you have plans with someone."

"Rude."

Strangely enough, Tsuyu looked slightly remorseful at that, "Ah, right...sorry. Anyway, I wanted to show you this place I found. They make chocolate pizzas and I think it's super gross but    "

"Ah!" Toga is already dancing with excitement, "Tsu! Can I marry you? You have provided me with all I ever need!"

"I, ribbit, well..." her dark haired companion's face was a flush.

"At least let me stab you! I hardly ever get you see you all cut up!"

"You have a one track mind," Tsuyu hummed, "Let's just go. You'll like it."

Toga put up a bit of a fight, but it was only because she enjoyed being difficult. Of course she would like whatever her dear had picked out. She was perfect, so completely perfect.

Toga was placid when Tsuyu led her in, almost alarmingly gentle.  It wasn't like her, the softness she was showing. That wasn't to say Tsuyu was some harsh monster, but she was certainly no angel either. She was good, but slightly rough around the edges. Too blunt, too improper. It may have been one of Toga's favorite things about her. She wasn't a perfect hero, and yet she was so good. If she were twisted in the wrong way...to picture how she would crack...

It got her feeling like she was on fire.

"They've got a lot of weird toppings. I swear, this stuff could kill us," Tsuyu mumbled, glancing over the menu.

"Fair point, but have you considered...marshmallows?"

"Well..."

"Think about it. I get your concern but...marshmallows."

"Ugh..."

"We can get marshmallows!"

"Whatever you want, Himiko."

Toga couldn't help but to frown at that. Tsuyu was being so passionless. It felt like, like she couldn't even be bothered to stand her own ground. That wasn't the girl she knew. That wasn't the hero she knew either. She felt her heart twist.

"Wah! Fine!" Toga flopped around, trying to move the conversation along, "At least let me pay!"

"It's fine, but thanks for offering."

Twist. It's even more obvious now! It was getting under her skin. It itched. She wanted it to stop.

They made small banter, Tsuyu being a pushover the whole way through.

Just who did she think she was? Was she playing a game with her? That wasn't nice. No, not at all!

Tsuyu chewed quietly, face askew, "Ugh, I think I'm done, ribbit. N-Not that it was bad! I'm just full. You want the rest?"

Twist.

Annoyed as she was, how could Toga turn that down? It wasn't like it mattered, though. This clearly wasn't her Tsu. She was being fake, deceptive, everything Tsuyu wasn't. Everything Toga loathed about the whole damn world.

Tsuyu paid quickly enough, gathering her things, "You ready to go, Himiko?"

Toga all but growled, dragging Tsuyu by the arm forcefully.

"Ah! Himiko! What are you doing? Let go of me!"

As she dragged her into an alley, the blonde couldn't help the small grin on her face, that unwinding of her heart. That was more like it. That was Tsu. Her Tsu.

"Did I do something wrong?"

 Snap.

How dare she! She waned to play this game with her? Well fine then! She could play, too!

Toga launched into a sprint, knife aimed at Tsuyu's chest. Tsuyu jumped out of the way just in time, though she looked severely confused.

"What are you doing?"

"I could ask you the same," Toga crooned, "C'mon Tsu, I know you can do better than this."

Sloppily, she charged at her once more. There was no rhyme in her attacks and she left herself open often, yet Tsuyu just dodged and dodged and dodged...

"I'm getting mad, Tsu! Really disappointed too! Wanna' rip you out, wanna' tear your skin..."

Was she enjoying toying with her? Was that it? She never thought Tsuyu would be the type. But there she was, having the nerve to look concerned. Like she cared. No one cared about Toga. Even when they said they did. She knew that. Of course, Tsuyu had to show up and say she did, then treating her totally different. Well, she would show her!

If there was one thing Toga had learned, it was that even the most apathetic of people cared when there was a blade in their throat.

As she launched her weapon towards that gorgeous swan neck, Tsuyu grabbed her arm, pinning her to the ground, "That's enough."

Toga felt a tingle run up her spine, "Ooh! Bad things happen for us in alleyways, huh?"

"Why did you attack me?" Tsuyu demands, and Toga could swear her face almost looks betrayed.

"Didn't think I would catch on?" Toga grins, and it hurts, "It's fine. Lot's of people think I'm dumb! But hey, we all make mistakes!"

"What are you talking about?"

Toga bristled, could Tsuyu really act so clueless? "You...you're kidding right? The way you've been acting all day, you've been using me.

Tsuyu frowned eyebrows knotting, "Using you, ribbit?"

"You're acting so nice to me, like you care!"

"I do!"

"No you don't! No one cares about me! People who cared about me punched and kicked me! They weren't weak willed like you're acting! You're just trying lull me into a false sense of security! Well, it won't work! I'm stronger than that now! I won't let Tsu act all nice and then hurt me. Suck suck suck..."

"Himiko..."

"That's what people do when they really like you right?" They stab and pull and hurt and scratch and push and...!"

Toga didn't realize she was crying until Tsuyu started wiping her face, "Himiko, I was acting that way to show you I did care. You couldn't see it before had I thought the best apology would be a changed behavior. I don't know who made you think that, but violence isn't love."

"Then what is?" It was meant to sound coy, but instead was choked out desperately.

"This," Tsuyu wrapped her arms around the other, putting her hand atop her head.

Toga couldn't help her tears then, burying her head into the crook of Tsuyu's neck. She brought up her fangs to Tsuyu's throat, pushing them in. She tensed, but allowed Toga to remain as she was.

Violence was a comfort to Toga, she couldn't help it. But Tsuyu, Tsuyu wanted to treat her right. All the pain she had gone through, she could forget it.

So long as she had Tsuyu, of course.
