Chapter Text
Uraraka leaned against the door to breathe, closing her eyes and opening them to see Ryukyu staring at her in confusion.
“Ochako? Are you alright?” Ryuku said, putting a hand on the young girls shoulder.
Uraraka was currently lost in her own world, but hearing Ryukyus voice brought her out of her panicked state.
“Huh? Y-yeah, I-I’m f-fine! Haha, why wouldn’t I be?!” Uraraka said as she quickly stood and tried to regaining her composure by placing her hand on Ryukyu’s desk and the other on her hip. Though she didn’t realize that all five of her fingers were touching the desk, until it began to float. She yelped and quickly returned gravity to the desk by pressing her fingers together as it landed with a ‘thud’ with a pen rolling off onto the ground. Uraraka felt herself die a little inside from being so clumsy and smiled nervously at the pro hero as she tapped her two fingers together. To avoid anymore awkwardness, she decided it would be better to sit down in a chair instead, with hands on her knees as the silence resumed.
Ryukyu, on the other hand, didn’t seem convinced. “Um...Uraraka, are you sure you are okay?” The dragon hero said with worry in her eyes. Uraraka felt guilt pang in her chest, she didn’t want to worry the kind hero who has not only been a great mentor, but great friend to Uraraka.
Taking a deep breath, she cooled down and collected herself, giving a reassuring smile and nod. “I’m good! Thank you Ryukyu.”
Ryukyu relaxed a bit, but still returned the smile. “Good, because I have a proposition for you...”

(Bakugo’s P.O.V.)
‘That damn nerd!’ Bakugo’s thoughts echoed. He was frustrated, but he really didn’t understand the fury clouding over him. Clenching and unclenching his fist he took deep breaths as he waited in the busy agency for Uraraka to emerge.
He didn’t know what she would say now. He was so determined that she would say yes to Ryuku but with the way she has been acting, maybe he wasn’t so sure.
‘Why the fuck am I getting worked up anyways?! Her fucking loss if she doesn’t want to fucking work with me...she would be fucking annoying anyways!’ His thoughts raged again. He was getting frustrated and wanted to blow a hole through a wall to release some of the anger boiling in his veins.
‘Why deku, why not-’ His thoughts were interrupted by a tap on his shoulder. “WHAT- huh?!” He yelled only to stop realizing who it was.
“u-uh , you ready to train...partner?!” Uraraka said, as she lamely swung a fist like a country girl that ended with a thumbs up in the air. Even though her tone didn’t seem to ecstatic, her eyes still held determination.

(Uraraka’s P.O.V.)
“...Would you wish to participate in this mission?” Ryukyu said after filling her in on the mission details. Uraraka felt her nerves settle, until Ryukyu continued.
“...but with Ground Zero as your partner?” Ryukyu continued.
“H-huh?!” Uraraka squeaked. She couldn’t believe her ears. Was that why the explosive hero was here?
“I saw you two working together two weeks ago, the day of your injury, and I thought it would be a good idea to have you two work together for this mission. Afterall, Bakugou told me himself that you two were training together.” Ryukyu said with a innocent smile. Of course, she wouldn’t know Uraraka current predicament at the moment, but Uraraka didn’t want to bother the dragon hero with her personal...’love?’...life.
Due to Uraraka’s silence, Ryukyu decided to add on to her statement. “Unless, you don’t want to work with him, which is underst-” Ryukyu started and Uraraka interrupted.
“N-no! I mean...that’s not it! O-of course i’ll work with Baku- I mean, Ground Zero! Why wouldn’t I? This is an opportunity...Right?! I won’t let you down Ryukyu!” Uraraka said, flailing her arms around and smiling, her cheeks a little more rosier than usual. Ryukyu raised an eyebrow.
“Are you sure Uravity?” Ryukyu said, but Uraraka calmed herself down and smiled with determination.
“I’m positive, I’ll make sure I’m ready for this mission and won’t let you, or anyone, down!” Uraraka said positively, which Ryukyu grinned at.
“I’m glad to hear that Uraraka! Take the next two weeks to train with Ground Zero, and I’ll have you both report back for the first meeting. Glad to have you back, Uravity.” Ryukyu grinned and Uraraka nodded with a smile.
After leaving Ryukyu’s office, Uraraka sighed. She knew she needed to talk to Bakugo, and get over last night, or at least try to, for the sake of this mission.
She saw a tense Bakugo standing nearby and decide to go over to him, willing her confidence to approach him with a tap on the shoulder.
An angry Bakugo swiveled, ready to to blow her up as he responded with a “WHAT-huh?!” Surprised washed over his face when he realized it was just Uraraka. Uraraka was also surprised by his reaction, but she was still able to get past her nervousness and speak to him.
“u-uh , you ready to train...partner?!” Uraraka said a bit nervously, but still determined.
Uraraka swore she saw Bakugou’s expression soften a bit before he turned with a gruff “Yeah, lets go.” Walking out without saying another word as Uraraka followed him.
------------
(Uraraka’s P.O.V cont’d)
Uraraka walked with Bakugo back to where he was interning so he can change back into his civilian attire, as soon as he got out, he walked past her to the sidewalk. Uraraka gazed at him and looked back at the parking garage.
“Um, you didn’t park in the garage?” Uraraka said as she ran to catch up with him. Bakugo shrugged his shoulders.
“I walked to work today.” He said and Uraraka took that as his answer as he didn’t seem like he wanted to go into a conversation. Looking around on their walk, she started to see how fall was taking its toll and turning everything into a leafy wonderland. Smiling to herself, Uraraka liked that they were walking now and that she can enjoy the scenery as they head to Bakugo’s place to train.
Oh, right.
They were...going to train...
Alone.
At his house.
Uraraka felt her throat close up, finding it hard to swallow. She didn’t know to feel about returning to his house, and her belly doing back-flips did not help at all. Her mind was brought back to that night and she really wanted to know how Bakugo felt or if he even remebered...
Though, caught in her own thoughts and feelings, she didn’t realize that she was walking into oncoming traffic until Bakugo pulled her arm and she landed in his strong chest.
“AH!” She yelped as his arm grabbed her and pulled her into his grasp.
“Uraraka! What the hell?!” He yelled angrily as she was almost flattened by a truck. She was so panicked that she hadn’t realize that Bakugo called her by her name again.
“A-ah... Bakugou, I’m so sorry for worrying you!” Uraraka said while holding her head, once realizing she was in Bakugo’s arms she quickly took a step away. Bakugo was so confused by her behavior that he spoke up on it.
“The hell Pink Cheeks?! You have been acting like a space case all day, more than fucking usual. Don’t give me bullshit excuses, what’s really going on?” He growled angrily with his arms crossed, expecting an answer from her. Uraraka bit her lip and stared at the ground. She needed to tell him something...
“Well...I....I’m not feeling too good...must have been because I skipped breakfast...” Uraraka said, not wanting to talk about her feelings or whatever it was for Bakugo in the middle of the sidewalk, so lies would have to do.
Bakugou stared at her for a bit before his scowl softened.
“Tch...I’ll make lunch back at my place.” He said as he returned back to their stroll towards his apartment, this time he kept a close eye on her.
“If we are going to be working together, you can’t be acting all stupid and forgetting shit. You have been acting weird and I haven’t seen you be an airhead since....” He started as they were close by his apartment. Uraraka was now looking at him.
“Since...when?” Uraraka said, slightly confused of this accusation. Bakugou looked down at her and his eyes slightly glazed over.
“Nothing...we are here.” He said bitterly as he opened the door. Uraraka felt something was off on his statement but didn’t push on it. It was already the afternoon and she could already feel his frustration...and she was a little hungry. Uraraka sighed, she needed to resolve this soon, after all, they were training partners who will be seeing each other everyday.
Well, how bad could it go?
————
Stepping foot into Bakugou’s apartment, he went into the kitchen and started making something for lunch as Uraraka sat at the island counter and watched him silently. She watched him take out ingredients and fly across the kitchen so fast that she couldn’t believe how he could move so fast while cooking. She was so deep in her trance athat she didn’t see him look her way until her bowl was in front of her face. He made chicken fried rice with the leftover white rice in his fridge, which was the only thing she managed to see him do as he cooked. Her mouth watered at the smell and she grinned.
“Thank you again Bakugou! You have to let me make you something one day!” She said as she picked up the chopsticks and digged in. Bakugou scoffed.
“Yeah sure, just slow the hell down Cheeks or you’ll hurt your stomach before we even start training” He said and she blushed and slowly put her chopsticks down in the bowl before she can shove more rice in her chipmunk cheeks. He smirked at her and seemed satisfied with her reaction as the both continued to eat.

After their lunch, the two sat in silence so they can digest. Uraraka felt the silence close in around her and she felt awkward because she couldn’t help thinking about that night as the person she keeps thinking of stares at her. So, she decided to speak up first.
“Sooo, did Ryukyu tell you anything about the mission? She didn’t really tell me the details...” Uraraka said as she unconsciously tucked her hair behind her ear and looked around, avoiding her gaze at Bakugou.
“Tch, no. Just that the meeting is in two weeks.” He said.
Uraraka frowned. She hated how he didn’t just continue the conversation or something, so she looked towards the Tv. Bakugo saw her gaze and picked up the remote beside him, turning it on to see Deku fighting off a villain and giving an interview about it.
“Oh! It’s Deku!” Uraraka perked up at hearing Deku’s voice and turned to look at the TV. Bakugo growled and quickly turned it off as he got off the stool.
“Hey! Bakugo! Why did you turn it off?” She said as she turned to frown at him as he walked to his training room.
“Tch, you’re getting distracted by that nerd, so let’s start stretching so we can fucking train already.” He growled, sounding more irritated than usual.
Uraraka’s frown deepened, but she decided not to argue with him and followed him into his training room.
As she stepped inside, she saw him move his gym machines to the other side of the room and she helped him, with the aid of her quirk, of course. They managed to clear the room quickly and then he turned to her with a grin and cracked his knuckles.
“Alright Round face...” he dropped to a fighting stance. “No quirks, come at me!” He looked a bit crazy and Uraraka crosses her arms as she frowned yet again at him.
“Bakugo, we are supposed to be training as partners, we should be brainstorming ideas on how our quirks can be used together, what good is it to spar right now?” She said and Bakugo’s excitement turned into a disappointing glare as he stood up straight.
“Listen Roundface, you asked me to train you. If you think I’m going to fucking sit here and talk like that bastard Deku, then you can get out, forget about this mission Ryukyu put us on and go to him and shit. Otherwise, fight me and prove that your worth my time because this is how I train. My house, My rules.” He said lowly with darkened eyes.
Uraraka’s eyes went wide as a shiver went through her spine. ’What’s gotten into him lately?!’ she thought and then she pressed her lips into a hard line.
“What does Deku have to do with anything? We have to get ready for this mission Bakugou and you aren’t listening to me!” She said and he barred his teeth at Deku’s name.
“Fuckin’ Forget it! I knew this was going to be a waste of my time!” He said, throwing his hands in the air in frustration. Uraraka glared at him and went into a fighting stance. ’I guess I’ll have to knock some sense into him!’
“I asked you to train me before I knew about this mission! Ugh, Fine. If this is how you want to go about things, we will spar...BUT...if I win, you need to help me brainstorm ideas on how we can combine our quirks instead of just bossing me around! We are wasting time and we have to be working together, we are partners now!” She said with determination in her voice. He grinned at her statement.
“And if I win?” He said, turning to look at her. Uraraka’s eyebrows furrowed as she thought of something that he would want.
“If you win...then I won’t question your training. I’ll listen to whatever you decide and not fight you on what you say...for these two weeks only!” She said, clarifying on the last part.
“Tch...just two weeks?! I am training you!” He yelled. Uraraka rolled her eyes.
“Bakugo...we are training each OTHER, as PARTNERS! Just work with me on this!” She said her hands balled into fists as she got even more angry, then she smirked. “Unless you think you're gonna lose to me~” she said with a teasing tone, knowing well that it will get under his skin. She goes into a fighting stance once more once she sees his shoulders tense. He glares at her and he also gets back into his stance.
“FINE! THEN COME AT ME URARAKA! I TOLD YOU THAT I’LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR CHALLENGING ME!” He yelled and Uraraka grinned like a mad woman. Her feet moved on their own and she felt something in the pit of her gut light up in excitement, like her fighting spirit awoke inside her and she felt unstoppable. As she charged forward at the angry red eyed blonde in front of her, she felt like maybe he was right to start off their training with a fight to get them warmed up, and oh boy, a fight she was going to give him.
