Chapter Text

Totoko was gathering up the last few things of yours out of your room to take over to the Matsuno home. You would have packed up yourself, but were now ensuring the house was in top condition to present to Mom and Dad Matsuno. The Matsu-rents had since been filled in about you and had cancelled all remaining plans to race home at an Olympian’s pace to meet you.

Totoko had fully scolded the boys for not telling their parents and for making you feel bad, but you told her it was really okay.

She brushed it off, though her heart sank. These past two days had been some of the best for Totoko in a bittersweet way. She got to care for you, comfort you, just be with you. Something she had been dreaming of since..

Her eyes widened, she got lost in time a bit, suddenly she was opening an old dusty drawer in her vanity and pulling out a letter.

It was crinkled and yellowed with age, but it was still sealed with a sparkly heart sticker. Although she hadn’t read the letter in some time, she knew what it said. Turning it over in her hands revealed your name on the other side. It was the letter she meant to give you in high school. She was planning a proper confession when you were pulled from school. Your parents had ruined her chance and plan, then you came back and had somehow been snatched by the six virgin NEETs she had never considered competition. Still...

She had kept the letter all this time.

She smiled, then suddenly realized she had been tearing up. Wiping her eyes with a smirk she continued packing up the last bit of your stuff, putting the letter in her pocket as she walked out.

With one last breath, she rang the doorbell and was greeted by your smiling face. It warmed her cheeks, til her eyes dropped to the red hoodie you were wearing.

“Can I speak to you for a second?” She asked, nodding her head towards the porch.

“Sure thing!” You smiled, shutting the door quietly and stepping out, “You okay, Princess?”

Her heart jumped into her throat, and she croaked out a “Yeah! Of course!”

That’s when you first felt some suspicion, but when you saw the bag you forgot at her place it faded.

“Oh! Thanks for bringing this by. Sorry you’ve had to take care of me lately, I don’t wanna be a burden.” You laugh lightly, smiling wide.

“You.. can be a burden.” Totoko said quietly, clasping her hands nervously to her chest after handing you the bag.

“Sorry?” You asked confused.

“I know I can be a handful, a spoiled princess, a burden, but I want you to be my burden too.” Totoko said, her cheeks blushing as she looks at you in an adorably pouty way.

Now it was your turn to blush, “Totoko? I?--”

She cut you off again, digging into her pocket and thrusting an old letter into your hands, “Here, it’s about time you come back and take responsibility! After you ran off and caused so much trouble, hmph.” Totoko pouted again, her cheeks red as can be.

You gingerly took the letter, seeing the heart surprised you even more, “Do you.. What are you saying?” You said with genuine surprise.

“I’m saying, I won’t compete with those NEETS, cause I’m not a loser like they are. When you decide you want the real deal, you know where I am. And you can tell those NEETs…” She smiled this time with confidence, turning away from you and skipping back to her house, “They should watch their backs!”

Steam poured out of your ears as you were left thinking about Totoko’s back and her laughter as she skipped happily away. The memory of her flushed face handing you her precious confession practically did you in.

One of the boys opened the door, then they all started fighting over each other trying to get to you first.

You turned around, with a big smile and laugh as they waved you inside, back home.
