All I Want

Chapter Text

“All I’m saying is, your hair’s a mess.”

“I don’t have enough time in the day to care about brushing my hair,” Lavi scoffed, rolling over on Alma’s lap. The book they had been going over was on Kanda’s pillow, while Kanda himself lay on the very edge of the bed, doing his level best to ignore the interlopers on his bed.

“I’m asking if you even own a brush,” Alma continued, running their fingers through Lavi’s hair, picking at the flattened curls and cowlicks. “A comb, even.”

“Who cares about that when there’s dungeon masters to torture?”

Kanda snorted under his breath, the game system in his hands giving out soft electronic barks as he fed his dogs.

“I still can’t believe Link agreed to DM us,” Alma said, giving up on Lavi’s hair to drag the book closer. “Also, I’m afraid to ask what you two have planned for the game.”

“It’ll be great!” Lavi rolled over again, groaning when Kanda shifted enough to boot him off the bed.

“It’s gonna be a disaster,” he said, and returned to his dogs.

“Half elf rogue,” Lenalee sighed, glancing at Allen’s character sheet. “Am I surprised? No. Disappointed? A little.”

“What’s wrong with a half elf rogue?” Allen snatched the sheet back with a huff, hunching over it. “It’s a tried and true combination!”

“It’s boring and unoriginal.”

“Oh, sure, tiefling bloodhunter is original and has never been seen before.” Allen made a face at Kanda behind his back, rolling his eyes. “Hot Topic wannabe.”

“Fuck off,” Kanda responded with little heat, raising his middle finger as he rolled the dice in his hands. “You literally buy all your shit from there, don’t act like you’re any better.”

Link watched them, sitting around the kitchen table, then glanced at his phone. “Is it too late to cancel this? Permanently?”

“Buddy, you signed your name in blood.” Lavi grinned, resting his head on the table. “You’re stuck with us forever now.”

“Delightfully ominous, thank you.”

“Can I roll to seduce the shopkeeper?” Lenalee asked, brow furrowed as she went over her sheet. “I don’t have enough gold.”

The table laughed, Link’s face pinching behind the DM screen. He raised his head enough to glare over the screen at Lenalee, sullen. “I expected better from you.”

“That was your first mistake.” Lenalee preened, holding her dice out to Alma. “Give me your luck, I’m trying to hook us up with healing potions.”

“Starting a campaign without a healer was a mistake.” Alma tried to keep a straight face, but cracked immediately, pressing a kiss to Lenalee’s fist for luck. “We’re so fucked.”

“I promise I will make your deaths swift,” Link droned, rolling his eyes at Lenalee’s scream of triumph. “Swift and painful.”

Allen flicked popcorn at Link’s face, winking. “You know you love this chaos, you thrive off it.”

“I will not tolerate these lies, Walker.”
