Chapter Text

Aizawa clapped his hands together with a sigh. The school bell rang not a second after and the class had been busy secretly packing up their things ten minutes prior. It made their teacher go insane when some would so much as put a pencil back, never mind when Kaminari shoved his entire notebook into his school way before Aizawa was done with his lesson. Todoroki himself might had gotten a scolding since he too was packing up early. But he needed to! If he were to catch one of the fastest students in their class by the time the bell stopped chiming he needed his bag packed and ready! Aizawa just didn’t understand...

Today must have been Todoroki’s lucky day because instead of Bakugo nearly jumping out of his seat to get the hell out of dodge, he was quietly zipping up his pencil case and collecting his belongings.

Todoroki gripped the handles of his bag as if they were a stress ball, and approached the ticking time bomb himself.

“We need to talk.” Todoroki stated simply.

Bakugo’s pitiful sigh could be determined as just about anything. Todoroki didn’t know where to go from here. He remained silent.

Bakugo added the rest of his items into his bag wordlessly, adjusted his strap higher up the curve of his shoulder, and sighed once more. “Alright.” He glanced at the other.

Todoroki swallows and nodded. “My room?”

The blond closed his eyes and shrugged.

So they were doing this... right now. Better now than never, Todoroki has to reassure himself.

The quiet march to Todoroki’s room was painful, if he was being nice. Todoroki has watched those dramatic romance movies with his class before. The ones where the couple finally reconciles and starts aggressively making out on the elevator up. Only for the supporting cast member that was trying to get them together all along be on the other side of the sliding doors once they reached their flight. But sadly that was not the case. Todoroki felt like their elevator ride would never end and they’d be stuck staring at their warped reflections in the shiny metal walls of the lift forever.

Thankfully, the torture of awkwardly standing in a small box together could be move to another small box: Todoroki’s room. At the very least there Todoroki could just out his window when the going got tough. Ultimately a dreadful ending to their make up, but I’d feel pretty good in comparison to being torched alive by Bakugo’s murder fingers... oh well.

Todoroki, a simple man, bright in many ways but not ones that invoke social interactions, thought the best course of action after being Bakugo to his room was to lock the door behind him.

“You locked the door.” Bakugo placed his bag on the other’s (mostly) empty desk.

“Yes” His own bag found company on the floor.

Bakugo scrunched his blond shaded brows and then pouted. He responded with a nod and a shake of the head. “Sure. Alright.”

They were off to a great start .

Bakugo seated himself on one of the corners of Todoroki’s bed. Images of another scene from a movie he was forced to watch with his friends faded through his mind. A couple that couldn’t help but be less than five inches apart would tumble and laugh, and roll all over their magically straightened sheets. The two would giggle and laugh, eventually stare off into each other’s eyes and kiss one another’s breath away.

“Well.” Bakugo snapped the other out of his Disney-esce fantasy. One where they could gloss over the past few days all together.

“I’m a terrible, awful person.”

“Well-“

“Let me finish.”

Bakugo looked pressed but let the other go on without a word.

“I went into this thinking we could simply act as a couple, with little to no repercussions, other than just making my father furious. I didn’t think- I wasn’t worried about... this- these feelings to occur. I had hoped we’d go on a date, or two, in public, get noticed, make a magazine cover, and go home. I hadn’t thought I’d end up caring around you as a person, much less as a friend.”

“Wow, thanks.” Bakugo rolled his eyes.

Todoroki stepped into his space. “I’m serious!” He grasped at the other’s hands.

Bakugo looked down at their conjoined hands with a sour look across his face. “Don’t touch me.” He said without so much as moving.

Todorki tightened his grip, but not hard enough to inflict pain. “I’m serious!” He repeated again. “I don’t- I’m not sure what else to say, other than I’m sorry. I didn’t know any of this would happen... I can’t believe I wrapped you up in my mess.”

“So what?! You ‘broke up’ with me for what?! You couldn’t have just, I don’t know... sat me down like a regular person and fucking talked to me?!” The other yelled. He pulled his fingers from the other in a fit of rage. Tossing his hands around in aggressive aggravation. “No you had to make a fucking mockery of me in front of our entire class and my friends! You know how worried they were! Jesus fucking Christ! Not to mention my parents, they fucking- I had to lie to them, I told them we were dating. This went past you Shoto! It went past even me! Fuck! It went beyond your dad!”

Todoroki took a step back. Bakugo had never once been so angry. He’d yell and spark off before but his tone had never reached Shoto’s heart like this. There were even tears welling up inside Bakugo’s eyes.

“My parents, your parents, fucking Deku’s mom knew about it! And then- and then the best part is, I really fucking thought we could just pretend it was always real. I really had thought maybe- just maybe- we really had something going. But I’m... I’m fucking stupid and I let you trick me !” The blond stomped his foot. “You owed me. This whole thing was some fucking give and take thing that went way over my head. I poured too much emotion into this then I really should have!”

“Katsuki, I- I felt the same way. Please, you have to believe me...”

“Sure! I believe you, Shoto. You really showed how much you cared when you broke up with me in front of the whole fucking school and watched me run away crying. Yeah. Real fucking romantic. Did your Daddy teach you that one?!”

Todoroki braced himself. He knew Bakugo was hurting and was only trying to make himself feel better by knocking Shoto down. He really couldn’t blame him.

“I STUPID ALRIGHT!” Todoroki screamed.

Bakugo glared at him but looked like he was giving the other a chance to speak.

“I didn’t want to use you any more than I already had. I thought if I broke us up with you that you’d... I don’t know?!” Todorki tried to find the words.

“Hate you?!” Bakugo found the words for him.

“I guess!? Yes!”

“But...-“ Bakugo hissed. “Why?!”

“It’s easier fo you to go back hating me than admit to the fact I had feeling for you this entire time!”

The room fell into a silent hull. Bakugo’s scowl was still prominent on his face, his hands, turned fists, at the side of his waist. His chest rose and set faster than a normal persons breathing rate would be comfortable. He stood up from his spot at the foot of the bed and paced slightly. Bakugo looked ready to beat the shit out of him.

“You couldn’t have just... told me ?!”

“I just did!”

“I think I might actually hate you for real!”

Bakugo thrust his open palms up at Todoroki’s shoulders. Pushing the boy aggressively until the back of his knees hit his bed, forcing him to sit down on it. He looked up at the blond who was worrying his lower lip through his top teeth.

“I’m not asking you to forgive me-“

“I don’t.” Bakugo sneered. His eyes told a different story.

The other sighed. “I didn’t expect you to. But I just want you to know I’m sorry. Like, actually.... seriously. This is all really, really, really my fault. I can’t expect you to want to stay friends... or even attempt to be friends, I can only hope though.” Todoroki had to look away because looking into the other boy’s eyes was becoming too much. “And, I still owe you. For everything. I mean it, I’d do anything for you.”

“Anything?” Bakugo smirked.

Todoroki stabled himself with a deep breath. “Yes.” He meant it.

“Go streaking on the front lawn of the UA dorms.”

Todorki didn’t hesitate to practically rip off his shirt while sitting on his bed. Bakugo had to physically restrain him from removing his belt.

“No. No. No. No. No !” Bakugo chanted. “I don’t want you to be expelled!”

Todoroki managed to unbuckle his pants and shimmy them down his legs slightly before Bakugo got to refuse him any further. “You don’t?” He sounded so serious asking.

Bakugo facepalmed. “No you idiot! A few tears isn’t worth it.”

“I think yours are. Especially since it was my words that caused them.”

Bakugo froze. His face began to flush, which he was rather unhappy about to say the least.

“Don’t get cheeky just because I didn’t beat the shit out of you for all of this. You’re not special, Icy-Hot!” He snapped.

Todorki stretched out his arms. “I deserve it. You may hit me.”

“I don’t need your permission for that. If I wanted to I would have done it already!”

“I insist.”

“You’re fucking weird. Get your weird fetish out of here. And fuckin’ put your pants back on !” Bakugo yelped.

It was Todoroki’s turn to be coy. “I had assumed you liked me like this.”

“Nah-ah, nope. None of that.” Bakugo slapped Todoroki’s still-bare chest. “You don’t get out of any of this easy. We’re not friends anymore.”

Todoroki’s face scrunched in absolute sadness. “Wait. Really.”

“Don’t give me that look. You need to earn this shit all over again.” Bakugo gestured himself. “We’re strangers as of today, not enemies. You need to win back my friendship.”

“How?” Todoroki blinked.

“Figure it out.” Bakugo swayed over to Todoroki’s door. “You’re lucky I’m giving you this.”

“I thought I wasn’t special.” He smirked.

Bakugo was already half out the door when he gave a pointed look over his shoulder. “You’re not! Don’t get it twisted!” And with that the door was shut.

Win him back? Alright. Challenge: Excepted...
