Chapter Text
HE SAID IT’S POSSIBLE!
Taehyung couldn’t help but smile brightly.
DOES HE LIKE ME TOO??!??!
Taehyung took a deep breath to calm himself. He wasn’t sure if Jungkook hugging him so tightly was helpful or not in terms of calming himself, but he was definitely not about to put a stop to that.
“Jungkookie…” he tried to pout in case Jungkook looked, but he just couldn’t not smile. “Why would me having a nice weekend bother you? Do you not want me to have nice weekends?” He teased.
Taehyung heard Jungkook groan and barely managed to suppress a giggle. He hugged Jungkook tighter and lowered his voice “or is it maybe… You didn’t like the idea of me… going on a date?” Taehyung managed to pull a poker face just as Jungkook lifted his head off Taehyung’s shoulder. They stared at each other silently for a moment.
“I would like the idea if the date was with me.” Jungkook was staring directly at him as he said it, face red as a tomato.
Taehyung froze.
Did he just— Was that real? Taehyung’s eyes welled up again as he broke into the biggest smile and hugged Jungkook even tighter. Jungkook smiled just as big, easily reciprocating the embrace.
“I love that idea…”
Jungkook caved first, breaking ten minutes of silence as they held each other. “I’d really like to keep hugging you, but we’ll probably get in trouble if someone sees…” Jungkook mumbled.
“I know you’re right, but honestly I don’t care. I need this.” Taehyung whined.
Jungkook giggled and nuzzled him softly. “Come on, let’s go wash our faces and get back to class…” he didn’t make any real effort to get up, though.
“Mmmm… fine.” Taehyung very reluctantly withdrew his arms from around Jungkook’s shoulders and stood up, offering a hand to assist Jungkook. He didn’t need it, but he took it anyways, opting not to let go once they were both standing.
They smiled at each other and walked back inside holding hands.
It took Taehyung a few days to work up the courage to tell Minkyu the truth. He brought Jungkook along, just in case, but Minkyu was forgiving.
“Taehyung, I wish you could have just said that.” Minkyu sighed “especially to my parents, family pictures are out of control right now…” He winced, getting a laugh from Taehyung and Jungkook.
He felt Jungkook nudge him. “Tae, why don’t you tell him about your date for this weekend…”
“I was getting to that.” Taehyung wrinkled his nose at Jungkook.
“What? Taehyung, you told Jungkook first?” Minkyu gaped. “But—“
“Minkyu, I kinda had to…” Taehyung paused. “the date’s with him…”
“Yeah well, I… wait, what?”
Taehyung and Jungkook giggled.
“No… You’re serious? OH MY GOD! GUYS! That’s so adorable!!” Minkyu squealed and ruffled Taehyung’s hair. “Have you kissed yet? I need details!” Minkyu joked, earning a laugh from the other two.
Taehyung snuggled up closer to Jungkook on the pile of pillows they’d brought to the overlook. They laid together and watched the sun set over the mountains.
“Was that a good date?” Taehyung purred.
“Pretty good,” Jungkook laughed and pressed his forehead to Taehyung’s, nuzzling him. “But I did have one idea that could make it better…”
“Oh?” Taehyung tilted his head to the side inquisitively, making Jungkook’s next move easier. He leaned over and kissed Taehyung gently. Taehyung smiled as Jungkook pulled back.
“There, now it’s a perfect date.”
