“Satoru, behave,” comes Suguru’s chiding voice from the kitchen.
Satoru gapes. “What?”
Suguru’s head pokes out. “Not you, I was talking to the cat.”
“The cat?”
The cat in question is staring balefully at Satoru. He doesn’t look half-bad—once dried out, his fur had fluffed up to nearly double its overall size, and with his eyes open, Satoru can see they’re an unusual shade of blue.
“Yeah,” Suguru responds, and there’s an unspoken obviously in his tone.

“Wanna go on a date?” Suguru repeats, and although he has nothing to be worried about—it was a prank, so what did Satoru’s response matter? it wasn’t like he’d actually say yes—he can still detect a slight sort of tremor in his words that he hopes Satoru doesn’t pick up on. He coughs. “With me, I mean.”
Satoru’s mouth flaps open and closed. Suguru coughs again. Satoru’s taking an awful long time to answer—maybe it would be best to just reveal the prank now, before Suguru could embarrass himself any further—
“Yes,” Satoru breathes out emphatically, his eyes sparkling with the force of a thousand diamonds. Suguru almost wants to look away, but he can’t seem to move his eyes from Satoru’s beaming expression. “Yes,” Satoru repeats, and all of a sudden, he’s clutching Suguru’s hands in his own, “let’s go right now.”
“Um,” Suguru says. “What?”
