Chapter Text

Two weeks go by. Mitoku has stopped bothering her about Mina. For all Jirou knows, he has stopped trying to bother Mina, as well. Jirou has to admit she is not really focusing on his presence anymore. School has been eating her alive, so she had to put most of her undivided attention on that beast before she could even think of blocking Mina’s view of Mitoku. Jirou still tries to do that, though, especially since Mina has shown curiosity in her brother. But that tiring game of peek a boo is still not a priority to her.

Now the two girls are headed to school. Mina had knocked on Jirou’s door five thirty in the morning to ask the sleepy girl if she wanted to join her morning jog.

If Mina was literally anyone else, Jirou would have slammed the door in her face.

But Mina is not just anyone else. Mina is, well, Mina. Jirou is still as whipped as the day before, so she pulled out her jogging shoes and braced herself for an awful hour of jogging. That awful hour of jogging was even worse than what she could imagine, but afterwards Mina shared her water bottle and they took a shower together, so Jirou guesses it was just alright. They are talking with each other about easy subjects, Jirou’s body exhausted yet warm and light and fluttery and nice, so that awful morning jog must have been just alright.

“Hi again, nii-san! How was the party last night?”

Jirou whips her head up, and she sees Mina talking to her brother.

“Eh, gotta be honest, Mina-chan; pretty subpar.”

“Aw, that’s too bad” Mina continues to speak to Jirou’s brother, “Let me guess: Ameshi wasn’t there, huh.”

“You know me too well.”

They are talking.

Mitoku is walking besides them, Mina babbling between the two siblings. He is walking besides Mina like he is used to it. Jirou is short circuiting.

“Kyoka, are you okay?” Mina waves a pink hand in her face, and she snaps back to earth.

Jirou tries to ignore the cute way Mina’s lips pout. She whips around to face Mitoku instead. Her face is red, with both anger and embarrassment. When did this become a thing? She cannot believe she let him do this again! “Stop stealing my friends, motherfucker!” Jirou jabs an earphone jack at him. It hits the first time, but after that one the sleazy bastard avoids the second jab at the very last second. Despite their long distance siblingship he is still way too used to to her relentless attacks.

“Mom won’t be happy you said that, Kyo.”

Jirou goes for another attack. Without a pause, she retorts right back to his threat. “Mom won’t be happy once I tell her you broke her first edition deftones cd disc. Try me, you bitch.”

“That- That was two years ago!”

Mitoku finally sputters. Jirou knows she has won. She lets her earphone jack fall against her side, not limp yet- who knows, maybe she wants to jab him with it later for the hell of it. God knows he deserves it.

“Hey, don’t keep me out of this!”

Mina finally tuts. She hangs herself across Jirou’s shoulder, always clingy. Jirou sputters back, but she levels Mitoku a glare because he is starting to look smug. She puts a hesitant hand over one of Mina’s arm, almost in a protective manner. She would rather Mina is clingy with her rather than Mitoku. Mina likes girls, sure, but Jirou isn’t sure if boys are off the table yet.

The three start walking again. Mitoku and Jirou explaining the story of the broken cd disc to Mina. The two of them had been home alone for the weekend back then, and Mitoku was given the grand job of keeping Jirou in line. In the end he ended up breaking one of their mothers’ dear cd’s. Jirou was the one who had to discard the pieces while Mitoku made up a shitty lie of its whereabouts. He had begged for her to not tell the truth, and she decided to comply untill she didn’t want to anymore. Well, that is how Jirou perceived the memory. They aren’t really telling the story together. If Jirou is honest they are just interrupting each other by telling their own versions instead. According to Mitoku he didn’t really beg for her to keep quiet, Jirou was the one trying to look tough in front of her lady friend.

Before Jirou can snap at him, she hears Mina laugh. It is such a sweet sound she ignores the jab. She’ll retort after Mina has left for the bathroom.

The week after, Mitoku arrives to the schoolgates to greet Jirou and Mina again. Last week Mina had somehow conditioned Jirou so she naturally awaken earlier, just for their joint morning jog. Mitoku loved to point this development out whenever he saw them together in the morning; and in all honesty that wasn’t so often. Mitoku also loves sleeping in, so it is not like they met him every morning. He wasn’t that overbearing.

However. For Jirou and Mitoku and their brand of sibling relationship, it sure was a lot.

They never met this often before.

Neither of them made that attempt, really. Which is surprisingly enough rather unfortunate. Just like how Jirou had forgotten how infuriating Mitoku is, she had forgotten that she... missed him. Now that she thinks about it, it was obvious that he missed her, too. And here he is, making an attempt on seeing her weekly. How sweet. Jirou doesn’t comment on it, though. Unlike her brother, she knows when to keep her mouth shut. Instead she throws him a double edged comment and gives Mina a tad-too-soft smile. Jirou is standing between them as the trio walk past the school gates. Mina engages them both in easy banter. It is always so easy with her. Again, Jirou cannot help her smile.

A tall shoulder brushes against hers. While the movement was awkward it, had intent. Jirou turns her gaze to her opposite line of view. She cranes her head upwards and sees Mitoko smile down at her. His smile is also a tad too soft. She won’t mock him for that, though.

Jirou gets it.

Mina is a very good thing that has happened to their siblingship, after all.

A few days later, the two girls meet Mitoku by the school gates again. They are holding hands now. Not because any of them confessed or anything- no no. Mina just wanted to hold hands, and even though it would be smart of her to decline, Jirou is too weak to say no to that bubblegum colored girl about anything.

Mitoku eyes their hands for a second, but he doesn’t say anything about it. Jirou’s hand clenches around Mina’s. Not yet.

Mina starts rambling about something, Jirou and Mitoku giving their own comments here and there. Same thing as usual. During the start of the conversation Jirou had her eyes trained on her brother, but he only stared ahead, looking as demure as he possibly could be. Jirou tries to not be suspicious of it. Mina is holding her hand and she is giggling: Jirou shouldn’t let her paranoia ruin this moment for her. When the conversation lulls, Jirou only smiles and looks ahead, also calm.

“Do you ever want to visit Seoul?”

Mitoku asks, voice calm and lilting.

“Sure! But why Seoul, though?”

Mina tilts her head, looking confused in the most adorable way possible, eyes wide open. At first Jirou doesn’t understand the question. Then Jirou thinks about the list of white lies Kaminari had made for her. Jirou stops where she stands.

She turns to Mitoku. He is looking smug again.

Before he can open his mouth, Jirou attacks him full force, civillian status be damned. He doesn’t really care though, because while he grunts from the blows, the sick bastard finds it in him to laugh, too.

He is such a piece of shit, Jirou thinks for the hundreth time.

Notes:

Wow, another finished fic! I’m happy about that, even though Kyoka and Mina aren’t an item just yet. Who knows, maybe they’ll be next time?

;)

Notes:

Same person said his name could be Mitoku, since that would be a mesh-up of Mika and Kyotoku Jirous’ names, and I just ran with that honestly.
