Chapter Text
The Downpour Zone-
Kaminari never would’ve guessed this seemingly normal field trip would end in such a violent, scary situation. But here he is, surrounded by three of his classmates, huddled into a circle as they all faced villains. Students and villains alike are in the downpour zone, a dome of fake cities and harsh rain.
There are so many villains.
Wave after wave, villains surge forward and watch the UA students with evil in their eyes, their quirks allowing them to do all sorts of stuff. Kaminari can’t see far--the rain had fogged everything up, making it too dark to see far, but he knew by the mixture of so many scents in the air, that there are quite a lot of villains waiting to fight.
And the smell. It smells more vile than anything Kaminari has ever smelled in his life before. Mixture of fear and violence, a lightning-storm night in the swamps overfilled with inhumane sewage garbage, like lightning striking a dead week-old corpse, sizzling into a sour burnt smell.
Kaminari gagged at the smell, unable to stand it at all, tears forming from the sheer disgustingness. With how his classmates are whimpering and also grasping for clear air, they’re also affected by the scent given off by the villains. He shook his rather long hair out the way, with the rain making it smooth and in the way of his face.
“What do we do?” Kaminari wheezed through the vile smells mixing together as one truly disgusting mix.
“...We fight them,” Shoji, the big man with multiple limbs and a mask covering his lower face, replied seriously.
“Are you kidding?” Kaminari hissed, ignoring the villains who overheard and started laughing. “We-we can’t face all of them!”
“What else can we do?” Yaoyorozu joined in, her face uneasy. “Either we fight, or we die doing nothing.”
Kaminari knew that’s the logical thing to do. But he has no experience fighting real villains, no experience using his quirk to cause real offense, nothing but training. He looked at the other boy with them, Koda, the quiet one whose quirk is animal-speak, who looked absolutely scared out of his mind.
"I suppose you're right," Kaminari finally relented hesitantly, "but... can we seriously beat these guys? We're just kids... and... and these are real life villains. With experience and-and fighting skills and-... What if they beat us? Or kill us? Or-"
"Kaminari," Yaoyorozu interrupted patiently with kindness in her eyes, despite how wide and pale she looked. She released a scent that smells like a mother’s warm hug after a long day during the harsh days of winter, making him calm down a bit. But the rain did not help. It crashed down, making them feel more tiny, making the students shiver and desperately move hair out their faces to make sure the villains didn’t move without their realization.
Kaminari stopped panicking briefly to look at her.
Yaoyorozu smiled at him, though her lips quivered, indicating that she's also scared out of her mind. The thought both comforted Kaminari and made him feel even more helpless. She’s the only alpha here--if Yaoyorozu is scared, then a presentless nobody like Kaminari has no chance against the villains.
And his quirk! How can he use his quirk in this rapid rain? He’ll just fry everyone and end up helping the villains.
Immediately, a new scent flooded in Kaminari's nose. It isn't the vile, disgusting ones from the villains. It also isn't the calming ones released by Yaoyorozu. Somehow, it smells like Yaoyorozu’s, but more sharp and uncertain. He looked around and located the source of the smell--- Shoji.
"It's gonna be okay," the boy said gruffly, sounding unsure, as he hesitantly placed a somewhat comforting hand on Kaminari’s shoulder, "we're heroes. They're nothing but filth."
Next to him, Koda nodded shyly and gave them thumbs up, even though he is quivering like a cold child in the cold winter, wiping away the rain desperately.
Quickly losing patience, the seemingly leader of the villains stepped forward.
This villain has an abnormally large head, with a normal sized muscled body. He has plain black hair that reaches his chin, resembling their sensei Aizawa, but his eyes were a deep purple that seemed to glow in the darkness of the downpour zone. And this villain is wearing ugly black clothes that reveal nothing about him--and the ugliest, most horrid sneer any of the students ever seen. It’s clear he’s the alpha.
"Children." He huffed in a surprisingly deep voice. His evil purple eyes glanced at them one by one, accessing them, seizing their very souls in a matter of seconds.
Yaoyorozu, the only presented alpha of the students, felt something like protectiveness wash over her. She immediately stepped forward, shielding the rest of the students behind her. She ignores the fact that almost all of them tower over her.
The purple-eyed villain gave her an unimpressed sweeping look, only for his eyes to widen when he reached the... the chest area of Yaoyorozu.
"H-hey!" He yelled loudly, causing Yaoyorozu to back up in fear. "Aren't you a child!? Why are you wearing that!?" He pointed towards Yaoyorozu's breasts, averting his eyes while gritting his teeth angrily.
Kaminari shared a confused look with Yaoyorozu. Isn't this guy... a villain....? Why is he so concerned about...????? What??
As confused as she is, Yaoyorozu is also crazy smart.
Yaoyorozu took the villain’s moment of hesitation to leap forward, and plant a kick of her high-heeled boots directly on the villain's enlarged head. Before he could recover, or even comprehend what just happened, Yaoyorozu quickly used her quirk to create an unassuming wooden polet.
A closer look, and Kaminari realizes it's not just any pole. It's a bo staff, a wooden staff of traditional Japanese origins. It’s basically a pole, but wooden and cool, and actually pretty deadly if used correctly.
Yaoyorozu spared no time and whacked the villain with her bo staff, once, twice. Three times, and then she landed a final stomp on his fallen body. Her hands went towards his neck, found a pulse, and then she stood up to glare at the other villains.
The villains stared back in shock, shocked that their leader got taken down in a matter of seconds by a teenager.
Collectively, Kaminari and Shoji hissed out loud while Koda simply stared in wonder, his mouth open.
"Damn," Kaminari shakily said, "I didn't know you fight like that."
Yaoyorozu smirked, disguising the true fear she feels. "Come on, boys. We've got a battle to fight."
With her words, the other villains, who were previously shocked into silence, are now angry and about ready to tear them apart. They all snarled, personally offended that a child had the audacity to beat one of their own. Their leader, which made their anger rise even more.
Shoji leaped forward and used his quirk rather fantastically. With the extension of his limbs, another that turned into a watchful eye, and his general huge build and powerfulness, Shoji is an absolute power. He can easily smack around the weaker villains with quirks not as effective towards him. He can take on more than one person at the same time with ease.
Kaminari watched in silent amazement as he watched Shoji grab a smaller villain on one hand, another one on his other hand, and bash their heads together harshly. The two villains immediately crumbled powerlessly.
All this while his four other limbs are fighting and accessing the situation! Kaminari’s respect for Shoji rises tenfold.
But even Kaminari figured out Shoji can't beat all of the villains.
That's where Yaoyorozu comes in. She filled in the spots where Shoji can't be at, and deflected attacks with the bo staff she created, while landing some good punches and kicks of her own. She’s his shield--but also the supporting archers at the back of an army, behind the soldiers with swords and javelins. She’s shooting from afar but the soldiers have complete faith in her.
The two seem to be the perfect duo. Shoji, with his brute force and strength as well as his exceptionally powerful quirk. Yaoyorozu, whose quirk can make her literally manifest a gun (which Kaminari wondered why she hasn't yet), and also her brain is just as powerful, if not more. She can think of a plan, a backup plan, and then revise both plans if one of her predictions were incorrect all while beating up a villain with her wicked bo staff.
But it’s clear that the two are tired--they’re tired and still inexperienced.
Shoji's attacks are less frequent, and he's more on defense than offense. His limbs changed less often and his movements are growing sluggish.
Yaoyorozu is starting to pant as she deflects more and more, ducking and rolling and fighting. She used her quirk less, and landed even less hits, her movements becoming more and more sluggish.
If this keeps up, then they would eventually be surrounded.
The fear that planted Kaminari to the ground, the fear that paralyzed him and makes him feel as if he'll die if he tries anything, is starting to become less relevant as a realization hits him twice as strong.
The realization that Yaoyorozu and Shoji won't hold off for long, that if he doesn't do anything, then everyone would die. The realization that standing here, doing nothing but being afraid, would do nothing to help the team. The slowly losing team.
Kaminari turned desperately to Koda, whose eyes were covered by his hands as he shaked like a leaf in the midst of autumn.
"Dude!" Kaminari yelled, grabbing a hold of his classmate.
Koda looked up with frightful eyes, that shake and shiver in fear.
"You-your quirk!" Kaminari spluttered. "Use your quirk! Make lions or elephants fight them--or something!"
Koda shook his head frantically. But he said nothing, revealed nothing.
"Speak! You have to talk, I can't understand anything else!" Kaminari begged, shaking the boy even harder.
Koda looks absolutely scared out of his mind, not that Kaminari would disagree or look down at. He feels just as terrified and helpless.
“I can’t,” Koda whispered shyly, “only talk to animals...there are no animals here.”
Oh.
“The cockroaches,” Kaminari remembered, “back during the training practice. Can’t you do that? With ants or something?”
Koda’s trembling eased as he thinks, his eyes frantically looking around for animals he can talk to.
There are none. Of course there are no animals here. Not even little bugs or ants, like Kaminari had hoped. They’re trapped in a dark dome, surrounded by fake buildings they can barely see, and it’s constantly raining.
“We’re gonna have to fight them. Like Yao and Shoji,” Kaminari gulped, “but my quirk might electrify and kill us all, in this rain.”
He and Koda stared at each other, and a look of understanding passed between the two boys. As if they discussed it beforehand, the two boys quickly faced opposite ways and stuck their backs together.
Koda is large and seems like he could pack a punch. He’s just too shy. However, their lives are at stake.
The villains turned to the two boys with glowing eyes and ugly sneers.
A female villain with antenna-like eyes leaped forward, cackling.
Kaminari froze but Koda knocked her back with surprising strength. The two boys glanced at each other, both of them just as shocked as the other.
The villain landed with a thud, then sat up coughing hard. She glared at the two. “I won’t let myself get beaten by a couple of twerps!”
“Shut up, I’m stronger than you, Slug-Eyes!” Another villain yelled, pushing her aside. “I can get them with my unbreakable claws!”
“You and your crab claws,” the first villain screamed in reply, “my eyes are so much more versatile and less predictable than your little pinchers!”
“OH, BUT THEY CAN SQUEEZE YOU TIGHT UNTIL YOU’RE BREATHLESS, WHILE YOUR DUMBASS EYES BARELY SMACK!”
“WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO HERE, SEAFOOD!?”
“OH YES I DO, DUMB BETA BITCH!”
The two villains, caught in their own argument, begin to circle each other and start throwing punches, so invested in their fighting that they forgot completely about Kaminari and Koda.
Kaminari and Koda blinked collectively, watching the scene before them unfold as more villains take side with the other. The rain makes it harder to see, harder to figure out what’s happening, and who’s where. It didn’t help the intermingling scents--which smells so wrong. A mixture which should never exist.
‘All Might… please hurry up and save us!’ Kaminari begged inside his head. ‘Either we die by villains...or I try to fight back, and electrify and kill us all!’
“Ka-Kaminari!”
Kaminari turned to Koda. “What?”
“C-can you keep them distracted?”
Before Koda could continue explaining his plan, Kaminari had already grabbed a hold of the shy boy, shaking him vigorously. “Are you crazy or stupid?” Kaminari hissed, his pupils constricted with absolute fear. “Do I look like I can hold back all those villains? I can’t even use my quirk--how am I supposed to fight them?!”
“I-I never said fight them!” Koda interrupted. “J-just keep them distracted somehow. I...I can feel the small creatures...underneath the earth.”
‘That’s the most he’s ever spoken,’ Kaminari realized subconsciously. “Like what animal?”
“W-worms… centipedes, ants...or termites...beetles...there are a lot underneath the ground, that can help us.” Koda whispered shyly, looking proud of said creatures.
Kaminari, on the other hand, isn’t as impressed. He knows he should be thankful...but really? Centipedes? Beetles? Worms??
“A-alright...I’ll try my best. Please...please talk super fast or something. I can’t fight them.” Kaminari finally agreed. He has no better plan, this is the best course of action they can take.
Koda nodded determinedly, and slowly bent down to talk to the animals. He figured that if he goes down too fast, the villains are bound to notice and call them out.
“C-creatures of the ground...please, come aid me...please help me fight these bad guys.” He whispered to them. “They...they’re very bad and I can’t fight them alone.”
After a dreadful moment, the ground began to shake and grumble. Koda sighed in relief as the ground continued moving ominously, until creepy crawlies of the ground came out like a nightmare volcano, enveloping the villains who screamed in terror as they tried to make sense of what's going on.
The Mountain zone-
“Dark Shadow! Attack!” Tokoyami commanded, knowing full well that Dark Shadow wouldn’t be as powerful in the open daylight. Even so, he has no other way of fighting the villains, so it’s worth a shot.
He dodged a swift attack by a villain towering over him, trying to think of ways to fight off the villain with limited help from his demon companion.
Dark Shadow, slow and flickering slightly, punched the villain with all his might. The villain stumbled back two steps but recovered way too quickly.
The villain glared at Dark Shadow’s figure, more annoyed than hurt.
‘No good! I need at least some shade… or complete darkness!’ Tokoyami gritted his teeth, ducking and scrambling back, his cloak the only thing hitting the villain.
The villain paused, looking deep in concentration. His brows furrowed as his eyes focused on the ground--not Tokoyami himself.
‘Is he...is he somehow using his quirk right now?’ Tokoyami wondered, staring at the paused villain. ‘Is he ambushing me right now? Is a portal going to open up beneath my feet?’
Just as Tokoyami lifted his feet to move away, the villain growled in annoyance. “Why...why are you still standing?”
‘...!? What? So he did do something with his quirk! Or...or he tried to...’
“What do you mean?” Tokoyami asked carefully. Maybe he can use the villain’s quirk against himself.
“I am the perfect alpha. I released a scent no one can resist. It’s the most powerful scent any villain can muster up. You should’ve been on the ground, on your knees.” The villain growled. “Groaning, in pain, begging for it to stop. Yet you’re still standing. You look unaffected.”
‘Oh.’ It made sense now. But Tokoyami still has no idea what the other villain’s quirk is, which he is more worried about.
Obviously, Tokoyami is not going to reveal one of his secrets to a villain. He’s immune to secondary gender scents of all kinds, no matter how good or bad it smells. He has no idea what scents are--obviously not regular smells, like of coffee or books or food.
Tokoyami can smell food and flowers and whatnot, but has no idea what fear smells like, or what the other person is feeling. He has no comprehension of pheromones beyond what they look like physically. He never understood when his classmates gag at a certain smell coming off someone, or smile in bliss when another releases a good smell.
When Yaoyorozu froze the entire class, Tokoyami was obviously shocked, but stayed silent anyway. He didn’t want the attention drawn to him.
The villain stared at him. “It’s not your quirk, because of that shadowy ghost.” He reasoned. “Perhaps it’s because you look like a bird--do birds have noses on their beaks?”
Tokoyami didn’t reply, partially because he’s offended.
Finally, the villain rolled his eyes and scoffed at himself. “What am I even wondering--I’m supposed to defeat you, not talk buddy-buddy with you.” With his final words, the villain ran towards Tokoyami with his hands stretched forward.
Dodging the villain’s attacks, Tokoyami desperately looked around, but saw mobs of villains scattered across the mountains, fighting the two other students with him. Then he stared back at his own enemy, gritting his teeth, and took a deep breath.
No one can help him. He and Dark Shadow are alone, and his quirk is useless in such open lights. He might as well fight back, or die doing nothing.
“Dark Shadow, attack!” He shouted once again, a plan of some sorts forming slowly.
The villain sneers. “You think that little ghost is enough to defeat me?” He asked angrily, as if offended Tokoyami even dared to try to use Dark Shadow against him. “All he does is give me a little pat.”
Tokoyami dares not answer to a villain. “Attack!” He ordered again.
Dark Shadow, despite weakening significantly in the sun, manages to head-butt the villain over and over again. While it doesn’t do much damage, the villain is beginning to inch back more and more, distracted by Dark Shadow and not paying attention to Tokoyami.
Tokoyami quickly crouched and picked up rocks, the bigger ones, and soon had a pile of rocks. There’s at least one good thing about being on a mountain--there are weapons on the ground everywhere.
Now, whether they’re efficient enough or not, is another question.
Tokoyami shot rocks after rocks after the villain, who was at first confused, but soon grew angry.
“You think petty punches and little pebbles are enough to defeat me?” He roared, and Tokoyami realized he was indeed offended.
Tokoyami responded by throwing another rock, the size of a baseball, directly hitting the villain’s eye.
The villain let out a surprised roar of pain, clutching his damaged eye, blood gushing through.
“YOU...YOU HERO- BRAT!” He hollered, shocked that Tokoyami managed to actually land a good hit.
Tokoyami nodded at his shadow companion, who understood the memo and continued the small attacks against the villain. They’re not the key to defeating the villain-- they’re to distract him, while Tokoyami continued throwing rocks.
Grabbing another big rock, Tokoyami aimed for the other eye, knowing it’ll cause colossal damage. With both eyes damaged and bleeding, the villain can’t see and he’d be disoriented due to lack of perspective.
As quickly as he defeated the first villain, another saw the two and came running. This time, this villain is much smaller and leaner, rather skinny and frail-looking.
“You think you’re so cool, just because you’re in UA with a couple of rocks?” The small villain demanded.
“No.” Tokoyami barely spared him a glance before Dark Shadow started punching the villain. Despite Dark Shadow being weakened, his punches still managed to hurt the villain.
Six rocks were thrown, and Tokoyami stood on the mountain with two unconscious bodies before him. He looked around and saw his two classmates dealing with the villains very differently.
Ojiro is an expert martial artist--that much anyone can figure out. With his obviously strong tail as swift as the wind, Ojiro leaped from one villain to another with admirable skills, knocking them down almost easily with his fists.
On the other side, Aoyama is running away from the villains, his mouth open as if he’s screaming. The villains are clearly having fun chasing him.
‘He’s not using his quirk...must be no energy left.’ Tokoyami realized. ‘He’s running towards the foot of the mountain… where there’s shade! Dark Shadow would be at least a bit stronger in the shade. It’s not complete darkness, but it’’ll do better than broad daylight!’
Making up his mind, Tokoyami picked up more rocks and used his cloak as a pouch to carry said rocks, as he ran down the mountainside to reach Aoyama. Once he’s at a reasonable height--away from the villains but near enough for Dark Shadow to reach them--, Tokoyami starts hurdling the rocks at the villains with as much speed as possible.
He has to make sure he won’t hit Aoyama by accident, but also throw the rocks with enough force to at least surprise them or cause damage hopefully.
The villains shouted in startlement as rocks rained on them, bruising the weaker ones while merely surprising the stronger ones.
In their moment of confusion, Dark Shadow begins his flurry of attacks. One after another, he punched with much stronger strength in the cool shade. Though not to his full strength, Dark Shadow is still dealing strong punches.
Soon villains begin dropping left and right. With the surprise attack of both Dark Shadow, the rocks thrown with scary force, and simply the lowered guards of the villains, it was becoming rather easy.
Tokoyami shook his head. He can’t afford to get cocky, or something is bound to go wrong.
Feeling more confident with the reinforcement, Aoyama used his laser quirk to zip around the villains, his heavy knight-like costume banging one of the villain’s vital parts: their heads.
After fighting for what seems like eternity, Aoyama stood atop unconscious bodies, heaving and trying to find his breath. His face is white with terror, lacking the usual sparkles. He glanced up at Tokoyami and managed a wobbly thumbs up.
“We have to get to Ojiro!” Tokoyami yelled down to the other boy. “He’s all alone!”
Aoyama panted louder at the thought of more fighting. Then he remembered their other classmate is facing villains-alone. He used his quirk to zip himself through the mountain, saving precious time.
“Go!” He told Tokoyami. “I’ll catch up with my quirk, but I’ll need to rest before I fight once more.”
Tokoyami nodded stiffly. “Be careful. And use rocks. They’re very helpful.”
Aoyama nodded thoughtfully and gave Tokoyami a grateful smile. “Merci.”
With his little understanding of English (or, at least he thinks it’s English), Tokoyami figured it’s some sort of thank you. He nodded again, not much for small talk, especially in a situation such as this.
Tokoyami called for Dark Shadow and together, they skimmed through the mountain, looking for Ojrio and hoping they’re not too late.
After running a few minutes with his mind in a dark place, thinking bad things about Ojiro and the villains that surrounded him and---... Tokoyami almost stopped running when his thoughts ran too wild and too curious.
Ojiro had held up pretty well. It’s clear he’s tired from continuously fighting for so long. His face is bruised and the left side is swelling slightly. His tail swishes much slower than last time Tokoyami had seen it--not even an hour ago. His stance is less guarded and cautious.
Tokoyami immediately threw another fist-sized rock, hitting a villain square in the back of his head. Before said villain could register what had hit him, Tokoyami threw another, effectively knocking out the villain.
Ojiro widened his tired eyes and looked around, saw Tokoyami, and sighed in relief. Reinforcement.
Dark Shadow grabbed his own, much larger, rocks and hurled them towards the villains. They landed with ground trembling thuds, sometimes landing on an unlucky villain. He knew that he can’t fight well in the broad daylight--there’s not a bit of shade anywhere. He’d be nothing more than a fly against all these villains.
So, Tokoyami had Dark Shadow on his side, throwing rocks at the villains and hoping they wouldn’t accidentally hit their classmate.
Ojiro quickly realized it’s hard to fight with all these rocks raining down, even if they’re for a good cause. He may get crushed by a large boulder if he’s not careful, or pelted in the eyes by smaller but still deadly rocks.
On the plus side, the villains are confused and starting to fight each other, not having noticed Tokoyami yet.
‘Once they’re all defeated....we need to help our other classmates. Who knows if they had experience fighting like I had..’ Ojiro thought to himself.
He grabbed a rock nearby that had bounced towards him and threw it with precise accuracy. It hit a villain straight between the eyes, immediately knocking him out.
Suddenly, an idea popped into Ojiro’s head. He wrapped his tail around a bigger boulder, not too big, and picked it up. The extra weight needed some getting used to, but he soon adjusted well to it.
Ojiro took a deep breath and concentrated. He swung around and used his tail to throw the boulder, like a makeshift catapult. The boulder smashed through several villains, knocking them all out instantly, before it landed with a loud thud.
All the villains turned to stare at Ojiro and he gulped.
Picking up another rock, he threw it at a nearby villain and continued fighting until all the villains were defeated. Eventually, Aoyama joined in with a flurry of glitter and sparkles, his laser allowing him to zip around and hit the confused villains, all while avoiding the falling rocks.
Tokoyami and Dark Shadow made their way down, and the three students reunited.
“Thank you for helping me,” Ojiro bowed to both students, who widened their eyes in shock.
“N-non, it’s alright, of course we would’ve helped you!” Aoyama declared.
“Well, now we need to help our other classmates.” Ojiro said. “We’re on the mountain zone right now...which zone do you think would need the most help?”
“There are seven zones totally, if I remember correctly.” Tokoyami offered. “Why don’t we try out the nearest zone, defeat the villains together, and then band together with the students in that zone--to the other zones?”
Ojiro and Aoyama shared concerned glances. The two mulled over the idea, but since they couldn’t come up with anything better, they both agreed in the end.
“Before we go-” Tokoyami suddenly spoke up, causing the other two to pause in their footsteps. “We should pick up rocks. They’re oddly useful.”
Despite the hard circumstances, Ojiro managed to crack a tiny smile. “You’re crazy.”
“Crazy awesome,” Aoyama amended with a sparkly wink, causing the other student to blush.
“N-no time for talking. We must hurry,” said Tokoyami, embarrassed at the compliment. He quickened his pace faster and faster--until the three students are running out of the mountain zone, all of them hoping they’re not too late for the next zone.
After running at top speed, the three agreed on a plan: Ojiro go back to the entrance and will offer his martial skills to help the students there. At the distance, they could see pink on blue, another person with an all-black outfit, and a white blob they guessed is the hero Thirteen.
Meanwhile, Tokoyami and Aoyama will go to the zone directly next to the mountain zone: the downpour zone.
Tokoyami’s eyes glinted when he realized that inside the dome, it’ll be dark and hard to see. Dark Shadow would be more than useful there. He tries to ignore the pang of fear--at the possibility of him losing control of Dark Shadow. Usually, he had some sort of light to keep the demon in line. The dome is all dark and supposedly always rains with heavy fake clouds.
“Good luck!” Aoyama yelped at Ojiro’s fading back, which Tokoyami scoffed at. As if this is some sort of silly tag game, and not a scary reality they have to face but were never ready, nor meant to face.
Back in the conflagration zone-
“SHOW ME WHERE SHE IS!” Bakugou roared angrily, his hands exploding as he rampaged, creating a destructive path as he continued stomping. The pre-set ruins of the conflagration zone seems like it’s all done by him. “SHOW ME WHERE THE FUCK YOU PUT HER!”
Kirishima followed his...his friend?... As he wondered why Bakugou was in such a furious mood. Sure, it’s a scary situation and these are real villains that don’t care if they hurt you. But Kirishima expected the explosive teen to be excited for some real villains--to beat up and prove his worth.
“WHERE IS SHE!?”
“Woah, Bakubro, slow down!” Kirishima called, running towards the blond. He didn’t have enough to harden to avoid an explosion that tickled more than hurt. He blinked. “Bakugou!”
“Shut up!” Bakugou roared, hiding his face from Kirishima (he didn’t want Kirishima to see his tears). “Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!”
‘How is his throat not sore?’ Kirishima wondered incredulously. ‘How does it not hurt… he’s been yelling like this since we got transported here!’
Kirishima continued watching Bakugou’s back with wonder and a twinge of admiration.
‘How amazingly manly is that?!’
Every villain that had the misfortune of running into the two of them faced the same disastrous fate: exploded by Bakugou’s furious hands, but not before he strangled each one of them, demanding the same question but never fully disclosing the name of the girl.
Kirishima doesn’t know Bakugou that well, but he racked his brain to figure out the girl. There aren’t that many girls either. Kirishima almost stopped running when he remembered the one girl who always remained by Bakugou’s sides, no matter how nasty or violent he gets. He remembers thinking she’s the manliest person ever for putting up with his shit willingly.
“...Midoriya?”
At the mention of Midoriya, Bakugou turned around sharply.
“Iyasu?” He asked with wide crimson eyes beneath his explosive mask, frantically looking around to catch grassy green hair around. “Did you see her?! Is she here!? Where the fuck is she!?”
Kirishima’s heart broke at the sight of Bakugou--he looks like an absolute mess. “I-uh-no. I just--”
“THEN WHY’D YOU SAY HER NAME, FUCKING ASSHOLE?!” Bakugou screeched angrily, grabbing Kirishima’s shoulders, small sparks coming off his fingers. “YOU THINK THIS IS FUCKING FUNNY, TO LOOK DOWN ON ME JUST BECAUSE I FUCKING LO--... Shit!”
Kirishma blinked. “Bro, I’d never look down on you! This is scary. I find it scary. It’s not...I’ll never make fun of you for being concerned for something you like.”
Bakugou looked down, not meeting Kirishima’s warm flaming eyes. “Yeah whatever,” he finally relented, and turned around much more calmly than before. “Help me find her, Shitty Hair.”
Kirishma perked up, “Wait really?! Okay, I will! Uh, wait, where is sh--”
“I don’t fucking know, that’s why I’m asking all these fucking extras where the fuck she is, except the morons have less brain cells than that dumb Pikachu fucker, and they have no idea where the fuck Iyasu is and--”
As Bakugou continued ranting angrily, Kirishima kept a headcount of how many f-words he heard. He knew he shouldn’t be playing such silly games in a situation like this but...but Bakugou would already knock out a villain before Kirishima could blink.
Normally, Kirishima would feel bad. He would feel worthless, that he’s not doing enough, that Bakugou is doing all the work while Kirishima does nothing.
Except...somehow, the knowledge of Midoriya being the reason for all this… that makes everything better, and Kirishima finds himself not caring like he normally would’ve. He continued following the explosive blond out the conflagration zone, wondering what his other classmates are currently doing.
Are they also fighting? Did they win? Did anyone collapse or faint due to fear? Did the villains ki--
Kirishima ran into Bakugou’s back, to which the other growled in annoyance at, but didn’t attempt to do anything.
In front of the two is another villain.
He looks unassuming and weak. Plain brown hair that falls interestingly to the sides, plain brown eyes hidden behind thick glasses, and a plain white shirt over plain pants. Yet the aura around him screams danger and evil. What a sharp, ironic contrast.
“Show me my mate.” Bakugou growled slowly. “Now.”
The villain smirked. “Oh? And if I don’t?”
Bakugou raised a hand threateningly, his grenade-modeled gauntlets adding to the intimidation factor. Sparks flew off his fingers slowly, picking up speed, until a mini explosion exploded.
“Tch. So you can let out a firework. Big deal.” The plain villain shrugged, obviously baiting Bakugou.
Bakugou realized that and gritted his teeth. On one hand, he wants to take the bait and punch the bastard in the face. On the other, the villain is planning something, and this may cause the demise of the two.
In the end, the thought of Iyasu being sad at him gave Bakugou enough self control. Instead, he gritted out painfully: “Don’t play your mind games, and show me my mate.”
The villain stared at him in boredom. “It’s always the same demands and motivation. You heroes are no fun anymore.”
“Shut your nerdy-as-fuck looking ass up and show me my mate.” Bakugou took a step forward, carefully envisioning the bait so he doesn’t fall for it.
“And you look like a five-year-old boy’s wet dream,” the villain replied almost cheerfully.
‘The bait. Don’t lose control.’ Bakugou steeled his nerves. “And yours are about your mother, freak. Bet you’re an omega too, with how pathetic you fucking look.”
The villain glared at him. “You’re kind of pissing me off, right now, mister Dandelion.”
“That’s what I’m hoping for, unimportant side character.” Grinned Bakugou wildly. The reaction of the villain confirmed his theory: this villain is an omega.
Kirishima, who had watched the whole thing on his tippy toes, grimaced. ‘Bakugou! You can’t just go around and insult everyone like that!....Well...they’re technically the bad guys so… wouldn’t that make Bakugou the good guy?’
“Very well,” the villain said abruptly. “I’ve decided you’re annoying. Now perish.”
Before Bakugou could raise his hands and deflect whatever the villain had planned, it was too late. Streams of light bended like thread, twisting around his body and holding him in place like chains. “What the fuck?”
“My quirk,” the villain grinned like a mad man who lost all grip on reality, “I can manipulate light into a thread-like material that no one can get out of! Perfect trap material.”
“What kind of fairy shit is this?” Bakugou barked, nevermind that he’s in a spot that’s currently unescapable.
Kirishima leaped forward. “Don’t worry bro, I gotchu!”
The villain turned freakishly fast and Kirishima was encased in the same trap, looking very ashamed of himself.
The villain grinned. “Predictable.”
Bakugou growled and tried to kick the villain, but couldn't due to the light-threat thing clasping his legs to the ground. “Fuck you! Let me out of here!”
The villain shook his head looking massively proud of himself. “I can’t believe you defeated all these other people here...but then again, they may have the power but they don’t have the brains, unlike me!”
“Maybe on Pokémon, you fucking dweeb!”
The villain glared at Bakugou again. “Shut up!”
“I’ll rather take orders from a fucking child than a nerdy fuck like you!” Bakugou declared. To prove his point, he began singing to spite the villain. “LA LA LA FUCK YOU LA LA!”
“Argh!” The villain groaned in frustration. “That’s enough! You are to stay in this nice little trap, forever! You won’t leave to pee or sleep or any of that shit! You’ll die in my thread and I would very much like your skulls to keep!”
“If your fucking quirk is about light, then how would that work in the night time?” Kirishima wondered, already forgetting the danger they’re in.
“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” The villain stepped forward, raising his hand to slap Kirishima, who was ready. Immediately, the villain screamed in surprise and pain and quickly took back his hand. He slapped Kirishima, who hardened his cheek area, and it feels as if clapping a sharp rock with all sorts of shapes within its own self. Immediately, the pain followed and the villain howled.
Bakugou snickered.
“Don’t make fun of me!” The villain demanded. “You know what? I know where your precious little mate is! Wanna know where she is, or who she’s with? Huh?”
He grinned when Bakugou stopped snickering, and instead adopted a serious glare. “What?”
The villain grinned maliciously. “She’s all by herself as we speak. Surrounded by no one but our own--villains. They’re staring at her pretty body right now, they wanna touch her. Your mate’s so pretty… but she’s not with you right now… no one to protect her, and she can’t possibly fight off all twenty four of them!”
Bakugou’s expression rapidly changed. His eyes are unfocused, furious as the words registered in his mind. He’s gone limp. Silent. An angry type of fury, unlike his usual loud anger.
It’s different. It’s scary--terrifying.
No one knows what Bakugou’s thinking. What’s going on behind those terribly trembling fingers, or his eyes twitching over and over again, his expression that darkened but remains emotionless.
The villain grinned, waiting for either boys to speak up.
But neither spoke. Bakugou, who’s in a silent furious lockdown. Kirishima, who’s worried about what Bakugou’s thinking right now.
They don’t know if the villain’s telling the truth or not. It’s disgusting but it’s not surprising.
Bakugou looked straight at the villain, piercing the ugly purple with his scarlet eyes that promise pain and suffering.
“Let me go.”
“H-huh?” The villain’s eyes widened when Bakugou spoke. His voice is way more deeper, maybe with anger, void of anything but anger, and sounds… sounds….
“I SAID LET GO OF ME! NOW, OMEGA!”
‘It sounds like an alpha! This kid...no fucking way!’
“Y-you think you can order me around? Just cause you’re a mighty alpha now?” The villain shouted, hysteria in his voice as he lost composure quickly.
Bakugou glared at the villain, his crimson red eyes locking in the villain’s purple eyes, and a shiver ran down the villain’s neck.
Suddenly, something new entered the air. It’s not a vile smell, nor is it intoxicating.
It screams for attention, obedience. An alpha commanding an omega.
The villain finds himself letting go of the trap as he crumbles to the ground, gagging and gasping for air. He tried to stop himself but struggled to even control his hands. ‘W-what’s happening!? I can’t control myself or my body!’
“Let go of Kirishima.”
Kirishima blinked as the light-thread vaporized into thin air. He watched the villain struggling to breathe, mildly pitying him. Kirishima sniffed the air but smelled nothing but distressed pheromones coming from the villain himself.
Bakugou sneered. “Kneel.”
“Fuck you!” The villain retorted, but his body had already gotten up and positioned into a kneel. He glared resentfully at Bakugou, cursing his omega nature for easily taking orders from a teen alpha of all ages.
“Tell me the truth about Iyasu. My mate.”
The villain had made everything up. It was just teasing. He had no idea who this kid’s mate is. But now he helped the kid present into a mighty alpha! Fucking great!
“I don’t kno--” Before the villain could finish his sentence, Bakugou sent an explosion his way with no hints of remorse.
He glared at Kirishima and pointed harshly, his voice still alpha-like and deep and strong. “My mate. Help me find my mate.”
Kirishima, although scared of the turn of events, managed a wobbly smile. “Of course, Mr. Alpha! That was so manly! I knew you’re a perfect alpha, but it was still so terrifying to see you go all,” Kirhisma paused briefly and made his voice a little deeper, “Ahhh I’m so evil!”
Bakugou paid no attention to him. They made it outside the conflagration zone and he just saw a blur of green zip across the other side of the USJ.
“IYASU!”
For the first time, Kirishima heard the raw anguish in Bakugou’s throat as he called for his mate. It never occured to Kirishima that Bakugou isn’t just yelling to find her--he’s more than worried about her, he needs to be with her.
Kirishima and Bakugou both sprinted towards the entrance, where the little green dot is becoming more and more clear.
As well as what’s standing in front of said green dot, towering over her easily, looking like an absolute demonic creature of night.
“What...the hell?” Bakugou muttered in a tiny voice, completely losing the alpha-commanding voice he had just a moment ago.
Kirishima’s wide eyes were locked on the monster-like being that towers over Midoriya so easily, his features becoming more and more clear as they get closer.
He takes in the monster’s large build, muscled to the max, with its brain sticking out its head, its mouth some form of jagged beak. Its skin is black-maybe a dash of night blue- and it has red streaks across its skin.
Kirishima gulped when he saw the matching skulls adorning the monster’s knees.
The horrid sight alone made him falter, almost completely stop running, as his confidence plummets down while fear takes its place.
“What is that?” Kirishima is ashamed to admit how tiny he sounded, as he whimpered at the sheer size of the beast.
Bakugou didn’t reply, his eyes focused on Iyasu, who stood before the monster thing and her classmates. Green lightning sparked around her arms and legs, as her eyes are wild and wide with fear. But still, there’s the determination he loves so much, in her wide green eyes.
Despite the monster being so large and dangerou-looking, Iyasu is still protecting her classmates. She’s still offering to fight the thing, knowing full damn well she won’t win.
Not without help, at least.
“Kirishima,” Bakugou turned to the redhead, “Iyasu can’t fight off that thing by herself.”
“Neither can we, are you crazy?!” Kirishima doesn’t want to dive so recklessly into a battle, one that they can’t win, all for nothing. Usually, he would be one to initiate such things… but even Kirishima knows his limits. “Let’s wait for All Might to save us, or something!”
“How can you be so sure that damn bastard’s coming?!” Bakugou nearly screamed at him, quickly losing his patience as he watched Iyasu anxiously. “We’re under attack right now, who knows how long it’ll take him-- if he comes at all?!”
Kirishima looked down in shame, guilt biting him and dragging him down. “I know...I know it’s unmanly but...fuck, but look at that thing! We- I - none of us can beat it! We’re not proes, we’re all still children, goddammit!”
“And we’re about to become corpses if we don’t fight back,” Bakugou warned, staring at Kirishima with a look he can’t describe, “I thought you wanted to be manly and courageous and shit. Now, here’s your chance, even if it’s not fucking easy! No one ever said heroics is easy!”
Kirishima’s lips wobbled. “Y-you’re right. Being manly doesn’t mean defeating that...it means fighting with honor!”
“That’s fucking right!” Bakugou yelled.
“...Thank you…”
Bakugou huffed. “Whatever it takes to convince you.”
Kirishima manages a brave smile, and tries to ignore the fear that’s holding him down, and lets out a small laugh in hopes of calming down. “Let’s go help your mate.”
When Bakugou didn’t say anything back, Kirishima wondered if he did the wrong thing. He glanced at the blonde boy next to him, and almost gasped aloud.
Bakugou is preening with pride, at Kirishima’s words, his eyes lit with cockiness as a smirk graced his features. “That’s damn right. My mate…”
When the two boys reached the scene, they saw that Iyasu and the monster weren't alone. Behind Iyasu are Tsysu, Uraraka, Jiro, Ashido, Ojiro, and the hero Thirteen. Ojiro stood slightly behind her, his hands raised as if to fight the monster. Next to him is Ashido, who’s trembling head to toe, but still has hands outstretched, ready to spit acid.
Behind the monster stood two men. One is the shadowy-misty person, the one who sent all the students in different locations. The other is the obvious leader, the one who spoke first, before the students were separated. The blue-grey haired, lazy looking man with hands holding him across his bodies. The most prominent one covered his face, making it impossible to read his features.
Aizawa himself is underneath the monster’s giant hands, looking defeated and beaten, yet his hair still floats, a tell tale sign of his quirk being used. His face is battered and bloody, mouth opened slightly.
Iyasu spared them a glance, then took a double look.
“K-Kacchan!”
“Iyasu!”
The two locked eyes, seemingly lost in each other. Iyasu’s mouth is wide open as her thoughts run a million miles an hour, the joy of seeing her Kacchan mixing in an uncertain pile with the fear and horror she witnessed earlier.
Bakugou propelled himself forward, to reach Iyasu’s side, so they can finally be reunited and--
“KACCHAN!”
The monster, quicker than lightning, moved forward and smacked Bakugou out of the air with ease.
Bakugou flew through the air and finally landed with a crunch, the impact so powerful that the concrete ground broke into a crater around him. He laid there, unmoving.
“K-Kacchan!” Iyasu continued wailing. She can’t leave her friends there by themselves, but she can’t leave Kacchan by himself, surely injured and hurt and--. He’s not dead, he’s not dead, he’s not--
‘I-I can use One for All at the highest percentage I can go,’ Iyasu planned desperately as her eyes moved from the monster to Kacchan’s unmoving body, ‘it’ll be super quick. I can kiss him, then we can fight together. Like we planned.’
“Midoriya.”
Iyasu glanced at Ashido with tears in her eyes.
Ashido smiled. “Go. We can handle him.”
“B-but,” Iyasu finally broke down, “I-I’m the st-strongest here an-and...and I can’t leave you guys…! I-I can’t!”
“Go!” Ashido persisted stubbornly. “My acid can hold him down. Maybe Uraraka can float him into the atmosphere. Go kiss your man.”
“K-kiss?” Iyasu racked her brain. How did Ashdio know about her kissing-healing ability? She never told her...did she?
“Yes! ‘Sides...Bakugou’s real powerful. We need him.” Ashido shoved Iyasu towards Kacchan. “Ojiro, cover me!”
Iyasu stumbled as she watched with tearful eyes, her fellow classmates who know they don’t stand a chance, risking it all anyway for her and Kaccahn.
OFA charged up to 50%, the highest she’s ever attempted ever, and Iyasu zipped through USJ towards her Kacchan in less than a second.
A shockwave erupted from the sheer power of her quirk, but Iyasu paid no attention. Tears fell down at the sight of Kacchan, battered and bruised already, his costume teared. His chest is unmoving, he’s not breathing!
Please don’t be dead, please don’t be dead, please--
Time’s running out. Iyasu kneeled before him, and grabbed his face. The monster, called Nomu by the blue-haired hand-man, had punched Kacchan right in the face. His face surely is more damaged than the rest of his body, but she knows the impact of landing must’ve messed his back up.
Iyasu quickly peppered Bakugou’s face with kisses and frantically turned him around, kissing his back and ignoring how awkward it was.
Please wake up, please wake up, please--
Kacchan’s chest begins moving. Breath! His eyes remained closed, but he’s surely awake and healing.
‘Why is it so slow? My quirk usually doesn’t take so long!’
Iyasu cried on him, hugging his limp body. “Kacchan!”
Bakugou opened his eyes slightly, the bright sun making him close it back. Someone’s hugging him. Water droplets hit his cheeks. What…? A faint noise. Crying for someone.
Suddenly, Bakugou’s slow and numb brain caught up. Suddenly, he remembered what happened and why he’s on the ground right now, being hugged by-by.
Iyasu!
Bakugou moved to open his eyes fully, to take in his mate, who’s crying faithfully over him. Pride and love flooded in his chest despite the circumstances.
Green flooded his vision and something else touched him--his lips.
Bakugou froze when he realized Iyasu’s lips were on his. They’re kissing! KISSING! Iyasu, him, on the ground, kissing.
Bakugou ignored the shock that slapped him in the face. This is what he dreamed of, ever since he decided Iyasu is his mate.
Iyasu squeaked when her Kacchan weakly raised his hands, one hand gripping her waist, the other protectively holding her head.
‘Kacchan’s awake, and he’s kissing me back!’
Iyasu leaned forward and reluctantly leaned back, smiling softly at Kacchan.
“Let’s kick ass, baby,” Kacchan smiled at her just as softly.
Iyasu’s heart pounded faster at the soft, loving tone and affectionate term.
“Are you okay?” She whispered, not trusting her voice.
“Mm.” Kacchan nodded. “Feeling great as shit. Better than ever… I think it’s the kiss…”
Iyasu blushed and smiled. She bashfully got off Kacchan, embarrassed she was straddling him. She gave him a hand.
Bakugou took her hand, grinning widely, his face red. ‘What took you so long to finally kiss me, nerd?’
“Hang on...I’m gonna use my quirk…” Iyasu warned, before using OFA to speed towards the villains and Nomu.
Hand in hand, the two zipped through the USJ, high in adrenaline and joyful despite what’s going on.
Together. They’re doing this, together.
Time seems to slow down as everything's a blur around them. Bakugou stares at Iyasu, who’s back is turned to him as she speeds through. He grinned.
‘When this shit’s over...I’m kissing your adorable face!’ The kiss they shared together opened a gate for Bakugou. One kiss is not enough anymore.
He wants more. He needs more.
Katsuki needs Iyasu. There's no doubt.
Just in case, Bakugou hardens his grip on Iyasu's hand. He's not letting her go anymore.
Together.
