Chapter Text
Saiki’s POV:
I walked into my classroom on monday to find a box sitting on my desk. There isn’t anyone in the room right now, so it’s a little strange to say the least. I make my way over to it and see a note attached to the top of the box.
‘To Saiki Kusuo, you’ll know who this is from.’ Based on the golden wrapping paper, my guess would be either Saiko or Teruhashi, but psychometry would soon answer my question without having to guess. As I expected, it was from Saiko. Hmm, he wrapped it himself. I carefully unwrap it and see what I already knew was inside: three fancy cases of coffee jelly.
Okay maybe ‘later’ is now, I need to worry about his feelings now. Just feeling the paper again, I can sense his emotions when he was wrapping the gift, he was nervous, excited, and… happy. The type of happy my parents are when they’re with each other.
Maybe this will be fine. All the guy wants is friends, and apparently, to be more than friends with me. Only in the holding hands and cuddling sense, but still. I couldn’t say that the idea disgusted me, the way he truly felt was sweet, and nothing at all like the way he thought of Teruhashi. Or what he used to think, now he’s over her in the romantic sense, he still wants to be friends with her though.
“Woah, who gave you that?” I can’t help a smile traveling onto my face as I look down at the coffee jelly. Kaidou and Kuboyasu gather around my desk to see what I had gotten from the ‘mysterious, anonymous’ sender.
“Do you have any idea of who it could be?” Kuboyasu asks. I pick up a coffee jelly and nod. There were small spoons attached to the sides. Those are the best, it makes eating sweets last longer so you can savor the flavor.
“Well who is it?!” Kaidou and Kuboyasu ask in unison. I only sigh and take a small bite of the coffee jelly I took out of the box. More people filter into the classroom until I see Saiko come in, his bodyguards following closely behind him. When he sees me eating the coffee jelly, his lips instantly quirk into a bright smile. He liked it! That doesn’t mean he really knows it's me though… damn, I should have been more specific with the note. I’m glad he likes it though, I had the chef teach me how to make it over the weekend.
Wow, this was really good for a first time cook. I look at him as he walks to his seat and smiles up at him. Hopefully he gets the hint that I know it’s him. He smiled at me! Does that mean that he knows it’s from me? Yes, it does. I’m very grateful for it, too. Saiko blushes and smiles back at me, taking a hand out of his pocket to give me a small wave as he goes to his desk.
Hmm, maybe him liking me won’t be such a bad thing. The only problem is him thinking about the small amounts of time we’ve spent together, and how he wants to spend more time together all throughout class. I can easily block some of them with the buzz of everyone else’s thoughts, but a few slip through, and I honestly can’t say I’m disappointed with them.
Saiko has changed since I’ve first met him. He doesn’t really care much about buying people off as much as he used to, and now he’s actually trying to be less stuck up so he can make genuine friends. All in all, he’s not as bad of a guy as I thought he was. I don’t think it’s just the coffee jelly talking either, the way that he learned something new, just so he could say that he actually worked to give me a gift was sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth for the rest of the day.
“Hey, Saiki,” It was lunch time already and Saiko had walked up to my desk, “I was just wondering if you’d like to eat lunch with me today, we could go to the roof if you want,” I hope I’m not pushing my boundaries here. I really want to talk to him though.
“I’d love to, Saiko,” I project to him, relief instantly floods his system as he takes my hand and leads me to the stairs up to the roof. Once we’re there, he notices that he had been holding my hand the whole time, and drops it.
“Sorry… I didn’t realize…” His face becomes beet red and he tells his guards to wait in the stairway.
“I don’t mind,” I say, grabbing his hand, “I’d also like to thank you for the coffee jellies, they were amazing,” I smile at him, something I rarely do for other people. Maybe it’s just because I think he’s just as sweet, bitter, and dignified as a coffee jelly. He’s kind of perfect in that way.
“Oh,” Saiko’s face flushes red again as he smiles back, “I’m glad you liked it, I actually had my chef teach me how to make them. I didn’t want to just hire someone to make them for you… I guess I kind of wanted to prove to myself that I was able to do something for another person without buying something,” his free hand reaches up and scratches behind his neck. My smile doesn’t leave my face as I continue to look at him.
“I think you did great, it was probably the best coffee jelly I’ve ever had,” Saiko lets out another sigh of relief. What do I say now? This is so awkward! I can’t just come out and say that I like him! It’s too soon! What if he doesn’t like me back?
“I like you!” He suddenly blurts, “Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to say that out loud! I mean, I really do like you, I just didn’t really want you to know that yet-” I silence him with a quick peck to the lips. What just happened? I kissed you.
“I like you back, Saiko,” I say, a smile still on my face, “You’re really nice, and you're super sweet when you want to be. I enjoy being around you.” He never once mentioned my money… Saiko’s smile grew, and the panic rushing through him slowly resolved.
“I really like you, sorry for freaking out,” he chuckled, “I was just worried that I would ruin everything…” I step forward and hug him, he doesn’t hesitate to hug me back. We both let out soft laughs as he rests his face in my hair.
“Can I kiss you,” He murmurs, “I know it’s kind of fast, but you kissed me earlier, and it was really nice.” I smile and pull out of the hug, leaning up and giving him another kiss. It is really nice. I really enjoy being around him.
