Chapter Text

As Jimin was about to get outside, a ginormous wave crashed over him, causing him and another student to be pushed backwards. He and the other students sled down the stairs, falling into the floor below them, where water was quickly filling it up.

“Ow!” Jimin whimpered in pain, as his back hit the wall. He dragged himself upright and saw Jungkook’s roommate, Dohoon.

“Dohoon?” Jimin asked.

“Yes? That’s me. You’re one of Jungkook’s friends aren’t you?” Dohoon asked. Jimin nodded.

“I’m gonna close the door!” Dohoon said, as he began to reach for it. With some struggle, he managed to slam it shut.

“Why?” Jimin asked.

“To stop the water from getting in here.”

“That’s not gonna work-”

“I know, but it’ll at least slow the water down, a little.” Dohoon said, eyes watering.

Jimin wiped Dohoon’s tears away, then some of his own too. Just… seeing Dohoon cry reminded him of how scared Jungkook would be, the youngest of their group - the same age as Dohoon. He began to pat Dohoon’s head.

Jimin’s eyes widened, as an idea came to mind. He began moving the beds, luggage, and other large items and put them on top of each other.

“What are you doing?” Dohoon asked.

“I got an idea to get us out.” Jimin replied.

“How?”

“If we can stack this stuff up high enough, then we can step on it and get to the window. I can try and break it.”

“Okay. Wait!” Dohoon opened the luggage to try and search for anything that could help them break the window. “Actually, uh. N-nothing. Nevermind.”

“We will just have to break it with our hands.”

It took some time, stacking and frustration, but soon, Jimin was able to reach up to the window. He began to pound on it to try, putting all of the power he had into his fist, but it proved nothing.

There was not even a tiny crack. Jimin kept hitting it, screaming and shouting, but he got nowhere. Suddenly, Jimin stopped, as he saw the others climb onto a rescue boat.

“Guys! They’re on a rescue boat!” Jimin said, smiling. Help was here!

He began to hit the window even harder, despite the aching in his hands.

Seokjin saw Jimin and then he turned to the others, who all looked at him and pointed. Jimin watched as his friends started to talk to the rescue team.

“Yoongi-hyung! Seokjin-hyung! Hoseok-hyung! Jungkook!” Jimin cried. “Someone, please, come and get us!” He screamed, as the ship sank deeper and deeper. Soon, the water came higher and higher and Jimin could barely see out the window.

Soon, the entire room was underwater.

"We're gonna die, aren't we?" Dohoon sobbed.

Jimin didn't have the heart to respond, but his silence was enough of a response. Instead, Jimin bent down to Dohoon and began to comfort him.

"Don't cry, we'll be out soon. We just wait a little longer, yeah? We're just gonna get a little wet.” Jimin said, as he began to stroke his hair. He was comforting him, even though he and Dohoon both already knew the truth.

Jimin remained hugging and comforting Dohoon, even as the water rose up and up. Soon, it was at their chests. Thankfully, their vests were able to help them stay floating in the water.

A little more than an hour later, the ship capsized. The boys could tell, considering that  the floor was above them. And later, they realized that the ship was sinking upright and they had gotten caught in an air pocket.

"H-hyung, what's going on? What's happening?" Dohoon asked.

"It's… it’s gotta be a miracle." Jimin replied.

"What?"

"We're in an air pocket. So, w-we'll be saved soon! Just you wait! The rescue teams will be here soon, so don't you worry, okay?" Jimin said, clinging onto the small sliver of hope he’d have. Because maybe, just maybe , they could get through this.

But soon, several days had passed and no one had come for them. It was evident that if their air supply wasn’t going to stop, they’d soon die of starvation or dehydration or the cold.

So for the next few days, Jimin spoke to Dohoon, giving him hope.

“The ship is big, so it’s just taking them a while to find us!” Jimin would say.

“Any time now, they’ll come to get us!” Jimin added.

But after nearly a week of being stuck in the ship, it was evident that no one was coming for them. And even if they were, they wouldn’t be able to save them in time.

Soon, Dohoon fell asleep and Jimin couldn’t wake him up. Jimin tried, shaking him and pleading and pleading for him to wake up. But he knew that Dohoon was gone.

“I’m sorry Dohoon-ah. I’m so, so s-sorry that hyung lied to you. But I… I didn’t want you to-o know the t-truth.” Jimin said, as he hugged Dohoon and patted his head. Jimin held Dohoon close to himself.

He held Dohoon, even as the pain in his stomach faded and his throat felt like it was being tied in a knot. And he even held Dohoon as he grew endlessly tired, drifting and drifting until finally, he found sleep. There was nothing and then, he felt content and warm.
