What if Dazai and Chuuya picked up some poor kid? (DISCONTINUED)

Chapter Text

There they stood, for a couple of minutes, or was it hours? Dazai couldn’t tell. It all just blended together, Karma didn’t seem to mind. Dazai now felt horrible, he couldn’t find the kid’s real name, but maybe he could try and help him remember it.

“Hey, Karma. I know this is soon, but, I know if, you remember anything, or any bit about your past. Not with the trading ring, not with Ace. Just, before that.”

The teen in his arms seemed to freeze, at the thought. Holding onto the tan coat, that the lanky man wore. Burying his face into his chest, he felt like crying. He didn’t remember. He didn’t remember his family. He couldn’t remember his family. The welling tears seemed to just fall, and they fell quickly. Holding onto him, Karma spoke softly. Curling into the man, hoping that it would ease the pain of that thought, that he used to have a family.

“I don’t remember. I can’t, it’s all mush. Dazai-san I’m sorry.”

Holding him close, Dazai nodded. He knew his real name was there, it had to be. Maybe he could ask Ango if he had any info. He had done all his digging by himself, so maybe some help from the government could help. Using his bandage hand, rubbing Karma’s back. Humming lightly, trying to get him to relax.

“Ssshhh, ssshhhh Calm down, kid. Don’t worry. I promise you one thing, and that, I’ll find your past for you, I’ll make sure you know where you came from. Ok?”

It seemed to stop the tears for a second, hearing that small hope, a link back to his past. Karmma seemed to melt into Dazai. Holding onto him tightly, nodding lightly. Though the detective didn’t usually like contact like this, he just let him. Osamu didn’t have the heart.

“That, that would be nice, Dazai-san.”

“Kid, I just ask you one favor. Call me a nickname, I’m not someone who likes being called with such a serious name.”

Dazai in return got a small nod, before he stood up fully. Looking back towards the hallway, and making his way out the room. Karma easily let go of the taller man, thinking of what he could call Dazai. He knew that Chuuya called him ‘Mackerel’ and ‘bandage wasting machine’. Karma wanted something other than that, something nice. Thinking of something on the spot, he spoke out easily.

“Ok, Osamu.”

A small glance behind him, Dazai smiled softly. Though within his mind, he was freaking out. Before saying a simple few words, leaving Karma to himself.

“Come to the kitchen, when you're fully awake. Ok, kid?”

A small shake of the head, was what he saw before Dazai left the room completely, and down back to the kitchen. Rubbing his face, before crawling back to Chuuya. He needed to talk to him.

“Chuuya. The kid, Karma, just called me Osamu. How, how do I react to that.”

Chuuya even seemed to freeze at that, He knew Karma liked calling him Chuuya, because it was personal, and it was better than just Nakahara. Looking at Dazai, like he was some alien. Surprise still written all over his face. Chuuya easily focused back on his task, as if none of it happened. Trying to find a way to calm down the suicidal man.

“It’s fine, Dazai. The kid calls me Chuuya, and you don’t see me freaking out.”

“Yeah, well, your Chuuya! You’ve always been Chuuya to me, so it’s normal for me to call you Chuuya!” Dazai retorted back at him.

“Still, you're acting like it’s something huge, it isn’t it’s just some name!”

“Yeah, cause no one calls me Osamu. Not even you!”

That seemed to get Chuuya to realize the problem, no one ever called him his first name, not even himself. That’s why Dazai was so flustered about it, he was surprised, and confused. Glancing back at the pan on the stove, before moving closer to Dazai. Laughing softly, before punching his shoulder.

“Get used to it then, Osamu.”

There were few things that could get to Dazai, but having his partner, well, ex-partner finally call him by his first name. That was something he liked. He wanted to hear that more.

“I’ll wake up Karma everyday for the next month, if you keep calling me Osamu.”

That’s the best he had, to keep this up. Dazai couldn’t lose this, this feeling of happiness that came with hearing his name. It shouldn’t make him feel this way, but it was amazing. Chuuya seemed to take that, nodding his head lightly. Before turning back to his stove, not paying the lanky man another second of attention.

“You also have to do the dishes, if you want to call you that, Osamu.”

Even though Dazai hated to do dishes, or anything, he would do it. Nodding proudly, feeling like he got the better side of the deal, before basically plastering himself onto Chuuya’s back. Smiling happily, even if it was still a mask. It was light hearted.

“Ok, Chibi. Now, come on, hurry up, the kid could be in here any sec-”

“Osamu, Chuuya?”

Karma spoke out, watching the two of them. Chuuya froze slightly, glancing back behind him. Waving lightly, smiling. Karma did the same, though he was tad bit awkward, they had to work on that. Dazai smiled weakly at Karma.

“Hey Kid, sit down, we need to talk about something.”

Chuuya spoke softly, as to not scare the teen. Who followed the order, with a tiny grin on his face. Taking a seat at the bar-like area, watching Dazai and Chuuya like a hawk. The detective is slightly surprised that the kid had such keen eyes, but he was in the mafia for god knows how long. Maybe Chuuya and Karma would fit in perfectly at the agency. Sighing softly, before pulling himself off of the tiny mafioso.

“What, what do we need to talk about, Chuuya?”

“Well, it’s about… You and I are going to leave the Mafia, well, more so me as of right now.”

The pale blue eyes of the teen seemed to widen, his mouth slightly agape. Karma had learned quite a lot about Chuuya in the past couple of days, first that he was an executive, which had scared him at first, but then he realized that he would be taken care of. Then, he was loyal to a fault. He wouldn’t betray someone without a good reason.

“What… but aren’t you an Executive? What would happen to you, Chuuya? Wouldn’t you, get hurt?”

Chuuya laughed softly, the kid still had many things to learn about him. Moving over to the counter, and placing a plate down for Karma, before loading it up with some eggs. Using a spoon to scoop it onto the plate. He spoke softly, trying to calm down the teen. Dazai had sat down next to Karma, trying to keep him relaxed.

“Don’t worry about me, kid. I can take care of myself. Me and Daz- Osamu, thought it would be good for you. Osamu works with a place called the ADA, the armed detective agency. A place to keep You, and I safe.”

Karma seemed to space off for a second, just a second, Whatever he was looking, whoever he was looking at, made him happy. Biting his lip softly, nodding softly. He had heard small bits and pieces of the place that the Mafia hated that agency, but nothing too big.

“What would we do there? I can’t do much, I’m not really cut out to be a detective.” Karma questioned lightly, looking at Dazai and Chuuya.

Dazai took that as it was his time to speak, smiling at him. “Well Karma, if you want to help Me, and the rest of the Agency, I’m sure the president has something in mind for you to help. You don’t have to help if you don’t want to.”

“But. I want to help, I, I don’t want to be some dead weight for you guys…”

That broke the Mafioso’s heart, hearing that from Karma. Sighing softly, finishing up plating the food. Placing it in front of the teen, and another plate in front of Dazai. Patting his back, Chuuya spoke again.

“You wouldn’t be a dead weight, don’t worry. If you really want to help, I’m sure the Agency has something for you to do.”

Starting to eat at the eggs that had been placed in front of him, Karma nodded. He planned to help as much as he could. A thought came to his mind, looking at Chuuya. He knew it was risky, but he had to ask.

“Couldn’t I use my ability to help? It might help, even a little.”

Sighing softly, Chuuya looked to Dazai for help. The hazel haired man nodded, that smile still on his face. Following what Karma was doing, eating at the eats in quick succession. Speaking with his mouth full of eggs.

“You could, the agency could help you use it as well. Make it so it doesn’t activate without you knowing.”

“Really?! That sounds amazing!”

Laughing softly, Dazai rubbed the back of the teen, as he smiled at the two adults. Chuuya seemed pleased that Karma was on board. Shaking his head, and going to sit down near the two. A cup of coffee in hand, as he ektp sipping it.

“I’ll tell the president that we have two need recruits coming in then.”

“You know damn well that I can do more than any recruit could do, Osamu!”

Feeling a throw pillow hit the back of his head, laughing softly. This was going to be fun, to have Chuuya, and now Karma within him in the light. He couldn’t wait to see how Mori reacted, he couldn’t wait for Karma to meet Kenji and Atsushi. They would just love him.

“What a mean Chibi you are!”
