Chapter Text

“What do you mean, he’s still in Japan?”

He stood with his hands placed flat against the table. Eyes trained on Inko with growing horror visible in them. She kept her gaze down focusing on the tray of sandwiches, hoping and wishing that she was anywhere else.

Hisashi, her husband, she reminded herself was still waiting for an answer. She gave him an answer, it was just that he didn't believe her.

“Inko”

Flinching out of her thoughts she kept her eyes faced downwards. She didn't want to see his face. Didn't want to see the emotions he had. She knew what she had done was unethical but he had to understand that she was forced by Izuku's actions.

Hisashi walked towards her and grabbed her shoulders forcing her to look up in shock and gasp quietly.

“Inko- What Did You Do” he gritted out in a low cautious voice. His grip on her shoulders tightening and making a sharp pain spark in them.

Her eyes hardened and she grabbed his arms, pushing him away and making him lose his grip she retreated towards the opposite side of the room, “I did what I had to” her gaze left his figure and searched the kitchen for nothing important. Mind racing she had half a notion to leave the house.

“What does that mean!” His voice rose in what sounded like panic

Turning back to the living room she called back indignantly “It means that he's still in Japan!”

“Why is he in Japan!”

She heard him start to walk towards her, his steps thundering across the kitchen tiles.

“Because I left him!” The yell left her mouth and she felt a furious burn in her cheeks. A few small clatters rang around the house as her quirk went off. This along with his stunned face gave her a sense of fleeting courage.

Already breathless from her yell she bit out “He ran a w a y”

“Inko he wouldn't run awa-” he spoke with an exasperated tone, unbelieving of this statement. This is Izuku we're talking about.

“He did” she pressed, clear annoyance filled her tone and she narrowed her eyes, “The night before we left he packed up a bag and left”

“And you didn't think to call me?!” He looked at her with confusion, wondering why she would just leave a child alone in an entirely different continent.

“It was his choice he wanted to go back to that deathtrap of a school!” Her voice rose as she argued, the small plates and trays around the kitchen began to tremble. Indicating use of her quirk.

“He made his decision and I made mine!”

A plate fell off the counter. Shattering as it hit the floor, but she payed it no mind her focus on defending her choice.

“Did you even check if he got there!?”

Hisashi felt a burn in his throat, imitating stomach acid but he knew what it was.

“I don't care! He would have made it anyways”

Annoyance clearly growing she threw her hands up in the air and spoke in a scathing tone.

“You have to care, he's your son!”

“Ive cared for too long! Hisashi he doesn't listen-”

More plates fell, peppering the ground with shards of broken ceramic.

“Inko! He's only 15!”

A warm glow emanated from hisashi as he argued with Inko, growing warmer as the seconds ticked by. They were surrounded by floating utensils, pots, pans, plates and glasses. But they only focused on each other. A stormy look in both of their eyes.

“I dont FUCKING CARE!”

She threw a pot with her quirk and it flew across the kitchen towards Hisashi. He dodged it as it clanged against the wall with a sharp bang, leaving a deep impression. The surrounding utensils and plates that were suspended in the air fell as well. Resulting in a loud crash and resounding trickles of more broken glass. The searing glow from Hisashi died down into a faint hum. He coughed as a faint wisp of smoke left his lips.

They both stood there in the kitchen silent. Eyes no longer faced toward each other, instead surveying the damage they had done. Stunned, Inkos hands were covering her face as she let out a soundless gasp. While Hisashi held himself quietly as he lightly panted out another wisp of dark smoke.

The seconds felt like an eternity as they ticked by seemingly endless before Hisashi looked back to her.

Breathless, he growled out lowly,

“Get out”

“Wha-” Inkos voice was a tone of confusion, her moment of anger was gone, replaced by a cold wave of regret.

“GET OUT!” He repeated, yelling even louder

His voice echoed in the empty home, bouncing off the walls and making it that much louder.

“Hisashi no wait! Im sorry!” Tears were in her eyes as she pleaded.

“NO!, I said get out!”

“Please wait I can fix thi-”

Taking a deep breath he straightened out himself and glared openly at her. He spoke in an authoritative tone, unopen to protest or pleading.

“You left my son alone” taking a step closer to her, he continued.

“Refused to listen to reason or common sense when told of your wrongdoings”

“Hisashi pleas-”

Holding up a hand he silenced her.

“No, you don't get to ask for forgiveness, you left a minor, my SON, alone and in no way able to get help.”

“He went to U.A….”

“Did you confirm that he made it there or was that just something you could blame it on?”

“...”

“He could be hurt right now, he could be DEAD and we would be none the wiser!”

Combing his hands through his hair he turned around and began to pace.

“What was the main problem in U.A. Inko?”

Eye stricken she kept her gaze fixed on the ruin her quirk had caused.

“...villain attacks..”

“Yes, and now with him being pulled out of UA he lost that previous protection of being around certified heroes”

Still indignant she picked up her voice and seemed to plead.

“He went to UA! There's nowhere else he would go!”

“You don't know that Inko” he nearly whispered, “don't you see that what you have done has hurt him?”

Inko had no words for this

“Inko please leave”

“Hisas-” she took a step towards him using her quirk to try and pull him closer.

“No Inko, I want you gone”

“Hisashi! Im sorry! Please! You can't just kick me out!”

“I want you out of this house Inko, i can get you a ticket back to Japan, whatever, just- ...get out of this house”

She stood there unmoving, staring into his eyes. He let out another smoky cough before hardening his expression. And gritting out,

“Now”

Teary eyed, she grabbed her purse and stormed out of the house. Sniffling and speed walking down the veranda towards the still parked car.

Inside Hisashi leaned against the wall and closed his eyes against the incoming migraine.

It wasn't supposed to be like this..

What happened?

He needed to call the school right now.

Could he get ahold of Izuku's old homeroom teacher? Maybe the principal?

Pulling his phone out of his pocket he slid down the wall and sat with his legs tucked under him, typing in a number he looked up quickly.

It rang once

Twice

He could hear his heart in his chest beating. God it felt so long since he sent Inko out.

Breathe in

Breathe Out

A crackle on the phone vaulted him out of his thoughts. A high pitched voice answering on the opposite side.

“Hello? UA principal Nezu speaking!”

Gathering his scattered thoughts he coughed and leaned back against the wall as he answered.

“Hello principal, my name is Hisashi Midoriya”

The last name burned on his tongue as he thought of Inko.

Clearing his throat he continued, “And I wanted to know if my son Izuku Midoriya ever made it back to UA”

The other made a noise that sounded like a small cough or something alike to it. Seeming to process this question and all the while making Hisashi’s fear worsen.

“Im afraid Izuku hasn't returned since his mother pulled him from UA”

Taking on another undetectable tone the principal further cemented Hisashis fears

“Did something happen?”

Closing his eyes, he fought the need to cry and the burning in his throat.

A cough sounded out, “Yes, Izuku was supposed to arrive in America with his mother, Inko Midoriya, my wife, today...but only Inko showed”

“Does she know where Izuku is?”

The tears burned in his eyes as he fought the need to cry and cough, thinking of the last time he saw Izuku. A tiny little boy in an All Might onesie running around the old apartment and laughing...

“She- she just said she left him in Japan”

“Wh-”, shock could be heard in the principal's tone, “Alone?”

Taking another breath of air he replied

“Yes I have evidence to believe he is alone”

The line went silent on both ends, on one side a lonely father fought back the tears that threatened to fall and the itchy burning fury of his quirk in his throat, on the other hand a principal was holding his head in his paws. Thinking of the worst.

“I will call his homeroom teacher, please wait as i will put you on hold okay?”

Head still tilted back Hisashi only hummed in confirmation, worried that if he opened his mouth it might betray him.

What felt like hours and years later that was only a few minutes, a new voice, came onto the line.

“...”

“Hello?, My name is Shouta Aizawa, I was Izuku's homeroom teacher”

“Hello Mr. Aizawa my name is Hisashi Midoriya, I need to ask about my son..

-------

Shouta knew something was wrong as soon as Nezu called him and asked him to take a call that was on hold.

This was out of the blue and didn't seem very like Nezu to pull something like this,

He was currently in the dorm kitchen with a cup of coffee, hair put up in a bun and some kids were downstairs despite the darkening sky.

Nezu didn't tell him anything about the call, only that it was important and he needed to take it now.

But before he let Aizawa take it he told him to state his name and teacher status of their late student Izuku

And did that set some warning bells off in his head...

An uncomfortable silence filled the phone as the call was transferred over to him.

Hearing the mute click and a ragged breath on the receiving side he introduced himself, though rather confusedly.

“Hello? My Name is Shouta Aizawa, I was Izuku's homeroom teacher”

“Hello Mr. Aizawa my name is Hisashi Midoriya, I need to ask about my son”

Leaning against the counter he focused on the swirling contents in his coffee mug and the conversation on the phone. Not noticing the few kids who heard him and were turning around to pay attention.

“Yes Izuku right?”

The other caller seemed to hesitate and clear their throat before continuing.

“Yes Izuku, I- I needed to know if he returned to UA…”

More warning bells chimed in his mind as a sense of distilled horror filled his chest as he put two and two together.

“Im sorry Mr. Midoriya but Izuku hasn't returned since his mother pulled him from UA”

He didn't notice a tall purple haired teen around the corner, in the dark, listening to the conversation, his worry and anger towards his peers growing with every word.

Aizawa asked why he was asking for Izuku and when the man gave an explanation he froze.

Snapshots

That's how he could only describe it

Hearing the facts he didn't want to hear made him sick. But he only closed his eyes and continued on with the conversation.

“So Izuku is in Japan alone?”

At the father's confirmation he felt a need to run, to find (his) Izuku.

Reaching up with his hand he covered his mouth in thought.

Izuku

Izuku was missing.

What the absolute hell? Something about it, Aizawa couldn't get his mind around.

“..”

“What about his mother?”

He leaned over the counter taking in the information Midoriya's father gave on the altercation that he and his wife had earlier.

Hanging onto every word.
Izuku ran away according to his mother. Izuku was somewhere in Japan.
His mother thought he left to go back to UA but she was wrong.

This left no leads

No known places where Izuku could be

Where was Izuku?

The need to find the problem child made him stand up as he began to question if his father knew of any areas he would go.

But to his dismay there were no answers, Inko had left and Hisashi hadn't seen his son in years much less knew where he would run off too.

Where was Toshinori damn it?!

“Don't worry Mr Midoriya I assure you I will find Izuku and ensure he is within your care soon.”

A soft whispered “Thank you, please bring my son back” filled the phone line as a quiet wet cough sounded out before the line terminated.

Hanging up he left his cup on the counter and saw the small crowd of kids standing in the dorm common room, confused looks on their faces.

They stood in stalemate, none wanting to disturb the fragile if fake peace.

Until Uraraka had had enough,

“Aizawa-sensei who was that?
And why were they asking about Deku-kun?”

Face deapan he put away his mug and started towards his room to get his gear.

Did they hear everything?

Aizawa wondered, cursing the fact that he had not taken the call to a more private spot.

Letting out a harsh sigh he continued on, grabbing his hero gear and scarf. While simultaneously walking to the dorm exit as the group of kids parted like the Red Sea, for him to pass.

“Izuku was supposed to arrive in America today, but to his father's worry only his mother showed up”

Stopping there as he zipped up the jumpsuit and readjusted the scarves, he looked back to his class’s worried and seemingly scared faces.

“Izuku is ...Izuku is confirmed missing, he's lost in Japan with no whereabouts and i'm going out to see if I can find him”

Turning away from their gasps he pushed onwards out the door, pulling out his phone again he called Toshinori and felt his nagging urgency for the blonde skeleton to pick up, he needed to act fast. Izuku couldn't have gotten far.

At least he hoped

“...”

“...”

“...”

“Toshinori, this is urgent, I need you to-”

“Aizawa-”

“Yagi I do not have time for-”

“Aizawa he's gone”

“What?-”

“Izuku's gone”
