Chapter Text
Marinette’s POV
“Get the equipment organized!” I yelled to the crew members.
“Ladybug, relax.” A person wearing a snake-like type of clothing coming towards me.
“Viperon, we were just attacked. I can’t just relax with this mess.” I gestured towards the broken crates and sideways barrels.
“Yes, but it’s not going to help the crew with you stressing them,” His voice soothing and gentle.
I sighed as I realized he was right. I need to calm down.
“Besides, it has been almost three weeks since the incident has happened.”
“Yet, this ship is still in disarray,” I muttered, lowly.
His deep chuckle resonated as he stepped to hug me from behind. His head rested between my neck and shoulders, and his breath tickled me ever so slightly. His lips soon started to trail upwards before landing behind my ear and nipped it lightly.
“Luka,” I moaned quietly. “Not here,” I pushed slightly away, but he laughed.
“It doesn’t seem you are really trying to stop me,” he purred in my ear.
I turned around and stared into his ocean blue eyes. My eyes scanned his turquoise blue hair that fanned out wildly. My hands reached to put it around his neck as his landed at my hips.
“Maybe, I have something else in mind. Something much more fun,” I whispered as I started to lean closer into him as his eyes darken slightly.
“I look forward to it, then, my melody,” I was so close to kissing him when we were interrupted.
“Captain Ladybug!” A short, stubby man came up to us with a wide smile.
Damn, so close.
“We are almost ready and equipped for the docks!” He stated, proudly.
“Thanks, Jacque.” I sighed as Luka laughed quietly. I quickly elbowed him in the chest before he grunted in pain.
Jacque’s expression suddenly changed and his jaw dropped.
“Captain, I didn’t interrupt something, did I?” He asked with shock.
“No, Jacque. Nothing was happening.” I silently laughed in my head as I saw Luka’s expression.
“Well then, is there anything I can assist-”
“Captain! Captain! Port side! Port side!” One of my mast crew members yelled from above.
I frowned before pulling out my telescope and scouted the sea.
“Marinette?” Luka asked in shock.
“Captain? What is that?” Jacque whimpered.
The port side was a dark black mass. Black tar and shark fins were coming straight for us. I looked through my telescope and noticed the sharks… they didn't have any flesh on them. The water was starting to turn red. Why was it turning red?!
“Captain?”
“Everyone! Get the ship ready! Fast! Anchor up! Throw useless items off the ship! Now!”
My commands were met with chaos as the blackness was gaining towards our ship. I heard the anchor being pulled up as something hit our ship hard.
The chains of the anchor went down slightly before gaining again.
“More men on the anchor!” I shouted as I stared wildly at the approaching smog surrounding us.
Splash!
What was that?!
“Captain! The anchor!” I snapped my head and gasped. The metal was disintegrating at the touch of the black tar.
“What in the world…” I heard Luka softly speak.
Echos of a beautiful voice sang from the waters. Its voice is like a harp and flute. Angelic almost. The song, though, sounded so agonizing. I looked around and saw everyone was crying, including me.
It brought my crew to their knees as my mind started to drift.
“Marinette?” Luka asked.
He sounded afraid. Why is he afraid?
“Marinette!” Something pulled me back, and I landed hard on my back.
That’s when the trance broke.
“What? What happened?!” I shook my head and I saw the tar climbing the ships’ walls.
“Luka?” I searched his eyes and saw pain in them.
“Marinette, there is something you don’t know about me.” His voice sounded broken and frail. So opposite of what I am used to hearing after all these years.
“Luka, what do you mean?” I asked.
“You’ll see.” His pinched brow turned away as we both stared at the surrounding tar coming onto the floor decks.
I soon spotted the tar heading towards one of my crew, Manon.
“Manon! Run! Get away!” I screamed as I tried to rush towards her.
My eyes widened as the tar went around her feet where she was standing. It soon stopped in front of me as I pulled my sword out.
“What in the bloody hell is this sorcery?!” I yelled in confusion and frustration.
The black tar soon was forming upwards and into a person’s body.
No, it can’t be. That can’t be it.
The tar soon shaped to black boots with silver toes at the front. The black reached and claws were soon at the hands. It traveled until a black mask was placed from the forehead to the tip of the nose. Black cat ears stood twitching ever so slightly. His grin that once was light and happy showed only feral and pain.
“Hello, m’lady, it’s good to see you again.”
“A-Adrien?” I asked, shocked.
“So you do remember me?” He asked mockingly.
“O-of course I do! Why wouldn’t I?” I asked hurt at the thought.
“You seemed to replace me easily,” He answered back as his cat-like eyes flickered to Luka.
“Adrien, please. It’s been eight years since we last saw each other. I thought I never was going to see you again.” I pleaded with him to understand.
His eyes softened ever so slightly as he turned to look at me again. He stepped forward and lowered the triton he was holding. As soon as he laid it on the ground, he hugged my body tightly, and I returned it back.
“I missed you so much,” He muttered softly as I felt tears land on my shoulders.
I gripped slightly tighter as I buried my head into his shoulders.
“I missed you too,” I whispered. My hands snake upwards and rested at his hair where I lightly scratched him behind his cat ears. I felt a gentle purr bubble out of him, and I laughed at the sound.
“Still a cat, I see,” I teased as we separated.
“Still dressed as a ladybug, I see,” He returned with the same lightness.
“Ladybug?” I turned my head and saw Luka looking petrified at Adrien.
“Viperon, what is it?” I turned back to see Adrien glaring back at Luka.
Oh.
“Right, I forgot. This is-”
“King Chat Noir. I know,” Luka responded. His voice held fear but also disdain.
“King?” I looked back to see Adrien making a weird face.
“Yes, three years ago, I was made king of the oceans.”
“Oh, oh my macaroons, you are a king!” I jumped and suddenly released what that triton was.
His smile slipped as he looked at me.
“Yes, I am.”
“Marinette, get away from his highness,” Luka coated me as he held his hand for me to take.
“Silence, underling!” Adrien hissed. His tail was lashing as his eyes grew narrow.
Luka buckled suddenly, and I rushed to help him. I was grabbed by my wrist as Adrien’s eyes darken at me.
“What is this, Adrien?” I questioned as I looked at him.
“A rebel it seems,” he growled and I looked at him in confusion. Adrien looked at my face before glancing back at Luka and then at me again. He suddenly let out a guffaw.
“She doesn’t know does she?” He asked mockingly at Luka’s pained expression. “I heard she hates liars. I wonder how she will react?”
“Luka, what is he talking about?” I asked as I saw Luka’s pained expression.
“Why, he’s one of my kind. From the sea. How else would he not have been affected by the siren’s song, especially of a royal.” It was like I was slapped. Again.
“Luka?”I asked as his eyes looked at mine. Pain truth.
“Wait, siren’s song? I almost jumped out of the damn ship!” I yelled as I turned back to see Adrien’s face cold and indifferent.
“You would have, if not for that slimy eel.” I reeled back from Adrien as I stared hurt at him.
His face softens when he sees it.
“M’lady, I didn’t mean you harm. I just didn’t know how you would react if it wasn’t like this.” His voice was so soothing, but I resisted his charms.
“You tried to kill me,” I spat as he looked at me with pain and anger.
“I would never kill the woman I love! Unlike you, I remained faithful to you and only you!” He growled and the sea quaked with his anger.
“Marinette, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you,” Luka’s eyes cast down in shame as I softened at the apology. That was before Adrien laughed and I went back to glaring once again.
“No matter, you won’t be important anymore.” He waved his hand and uttered something under his breath. Suddenly, something shot out of his arm and hit Luka in the chest. His eyes widened before a silent scream exited his lips.
“Luka!” I rushed and kneeled, putting his head on my knees.
“It’s okay, You’re going to be okay,” I soothed but Adrien only laughed at Luka’s pain.
“Oh, sweet Ladybug, he is dead.” Adrien’s eyes shone with pleasure and cruelty.
“No, no this isn’t how this is supposed to happen!” I looked back to see Luka coughing more blood.
“I… love...you” His voice faded as his body rotted until it was nothing but dust.
“No-n-no!” I cried as I felt a scream lodge into my throat.
Suddenly, I felt a hand rest on my shoulder.
“He’s gone, move on.” Adrien looked at me with boredom but consuming anger filled throughout my body.
“You killed him!” I accused as he looked at me with boredom.
“He was mine to kill. I had to. You were his mate!” He spat the word, mate, like it was an acidic poison. “The sea people’s ways are to kill for your mate. The survivor wins the hand of the maiden. Don’t you see, I want you to be my mate. I love you, Marinette. And, I will not take no for an answer.” His eyes bore into mine as he gripped me tightly. His lips smashed into mine and it was far too rough for me. I tried to fight him, but he kept persisting.
I pushed him off me at last, and suddenly, my crew was out of the trance.
“Fine, you want to play the hard way. I’ll consent to this little game of yours. You were always so stubborn. That’s why I fell for you,” He smiled at me like he knows I am a child throwing a tantrum.
“Seas bend to my will! Hear my commands! Listen and obey, the king of the oceans!” Water rose as he brought his hand up.
He suddenly pointed to Manon, the person he spared.
“NO!” I tried to run over to her, but something was holding me back from reaching her.
I looked down to see the blood water holding my shoes down from moving. I looked back up as I heard her scream.
“One chance, m’lady. Surrender yourself to me, and the girl shall live.” He made a tightening hold and the water gripped onto Manon tightly.
“FINE! Yes, I surrender! You win! Just, just spare her! Please!” I begged as Adrien smiled like a cheshire.
“Good choice, my princess,” He whispered as the water released her. I tried to run but I was still stuck.
“Come, now. It’s time we leave.” He was starting to head to the ledge when he noticed me not moving. He rolled his eyes as he made a gesture of come here motioning. Suddenly, my feet slid towards him as he tightly gripped my chin. His eyes soften slightly before returning to that dark look. He pressed his lips against mine and something in my gut felt different. My neck suddenly felt terrible like it was split open. I couldn’t breathe.
I was pushed into the water, and I took a gasp. I-I was breathing under water. Holy shit!
I suddenly felt a presence near me and saw Adrien looking at me.
“Come now, it’s time we go home.”
He kissed me one more time before everything blacked out.
