“The other prevailing theory, which I confess I find myself convinced by, is that the issue is not the illness itself, or that Lord Clockwork cannot do his duties, but rather…” The Expression intensified, and Danny leaned forward, concerned. “But rather that his former lovers arrive to take care of him, and then get into fights.”
Danny stared. “... His what?”

Summary
It wasn’t unusual to lose a feather. That’s what Danny told himself the first time he’d noticed. It helped because it was true. People lost feathers all the time, even outside of their moulting season. If it was a big one, an important one, it could be bad, could make flying more difficult, but it wasn’t unusual.
Losing two or three feathers, all close together, outside of a regular moult… Well, that was unusual, but it happened. Stress could make you lose weight, hair, and feathers. It could make moults come early, and Danny was nothing if not stressed.
Losing more than that, however...

“The silver lining of the mirrors does a true disservice to your complexion.” The voice came from behind, but there was no image visible in the mirror as strong, cool arms wrapped themselves around Scott’s midsection, drawing him into the strong chest behind him, “It washes out the delightful red flush to your skin.”
The words are all but whispered to his neck, lips ghosting over his pulse point, the phantom of knife sharp fangs hanging against the thin skin covering his veins, but instead of shying away, Scott did as he always did, and leaned in. He felt the smile against his skin, even as he remained the only figure in the mirror.
“You and I both know the mirror doesn’t wash me out to anyone but you. Silver makes the perfect reflection. You just have trouble with it.” Scott replies with a laugh, smirking when the vampire behind him grumbles without words.

Last Valentine's Day, Jacob got ahold of a hand mirror with very peculiar properties. Its magical power allowed him to transform into a perfect copy of his beautiful girlfriend, Anna. He's been making regular use of it ever since.
Of course, he loves Anna and would never do anything to hurt her, but he doesn't need to tell her or his roommate his dirty secret. However a secret is a fragile thing, and who knows what would happen if the truth of his actions came out?
