Chapter Text

A hint of blue light envelopes the couple’s fall, care being taken to shield the younger woman’s head on the way down by her senior. Lilies float through the air as they reach the crash pad. Neither is hurt, but the older woman can’t help but laugh at the excitement of it all. Flustered thoughts fill Sayaka’s brain. Why, why did she put this mat down? Why did she fall with me? What purpose did all of this even serve?

Most of the time the fall is enough to wake Sayaka up from this recurring dream, but she gets far enough this time to see the president’s blush close to her own before a single tear startles her awake. The dreams seemed to grow more and more vivid, rather than fade, since the fall a few weeks ago. She wipes the single tear from her eye and touches her forehead, the hint of a scar remaining where she had grounded herself during the gamble weeks ago. Even now, with no one looking at her, she can’t help her light blush as she thinks of the interactions she’s had with the president since the time she had injured herself.

——

After that fateful night, Kirari was closer emotionally than ever before. The clan came and occasionally graced the council room for tea, but always for a brief session. The rest of the disbanded student council rarely visited, each trying themselves to pry their way to the President’s seat... in some way or another. On most days it was just Kirari, Sayaka, and a mountain of papers or a small table with a tea set neatly arranged by the secretary.

Sayaka had greatly enjoyed their quiet time together, especially because the president talked much more freely with her. Kirari’s cold gaze grew softer for Sayaka and her guard softened more each day that  it was just the two of them. On days they were able to catch a breath from the crazy going on with the election, they sat next to the giant window of the student council room and just… talked. Kirari asked deeply personal questions of her secretary with increased fervor exchanged each time.

She can’t forget their first kiss either… it was maybe 4 or 5 days after the start of the election. Sayaka and Kirari had completed a successful day of collecting votes from boring students, but the president wanted to spice the day up by teasing her favorite secretary.

They were back in the student council room in the early evening, Kirari was thinking softly in her chair while Sayaka leaned against a wall sipping tea while enjoying the view from the massive window. The president stood up without her noticing and stood next to her before tapping her on the shoulder and gesturing her to put down the cup she held.

“ Sayaka...” Kirari sighed deeply while saying her name, sending a shiver down Sayaka’s spine. Every time Kirari said her name it seemed to make her feel like this, and she could never help the feeling. The president then placed a hand on the wall just next to Sayaka, cornering them together. “I have a new question for you…” The president leaned in to whisper into her ear.

“Do you mind… if I give you a kiss?” Each movement from Kirari was so deeply calculated and smooth that Sayaka couldn’t resist the intoxicating presence before her.

“Yes..” Sayaka was sure her face was a deep shade of red as she kept their eyes locked.

“Yes you would mind? How unfortunate.” Sayaka’s eyes grew wide but Kirari didn’t move from her position, instead, she chose to close the distance between them further, her forehead nearly touching her secretary’s.

“No, I do want you to… kiss me.” The president’s eyes were too intense, and she turned her head to look out the window after saying it. Kirari was extremely quick to place her other hand on her secretary’s cheek and move her face back to face her own. Eyes met briefly and then closed as Kirari finally closed the distance between them, kissing the secretary lightly. One… two… three times the president pressed their lips together sweetly. The act was enough to make Sayaka’s knees weaken, but the president in all of her smooth mannerisms had already wrapped the hand previously on the wall around her waist.

“You’re cute when you blush, Sayaka.” Kirari had looked at her, and  blushed back at Sayaka. It was one of her little treasures, the way that the president only ever seemed to blush for her.

“So are you.” She responded before wrapping her arms around the president and kissing her back.

——

The reminiscence of precious memories with her girlfriend almost made Sayaka late for her first class, but she pulled a few shortcuts enroute to ensure that she was as punctual as possible. She didn’t want to give off any hints of weakness, as enemies still remained in the halls of the school. Ririka Momobami… right, the gamble.

Her thoughts throughout the first half of the day fixated on the idea of seeing the president on the offensive again, but she had nothing but confidence in Kirari’s skill. She still remembered the chills that previous matches sent through her, watching the president think on the fly was a rush that was completely unmatched. Ririka was Kirari’s twin though, so the match would undoubtedly be tough. What game will they even play?

All the thoughts that rattled through her brain made it nearly impossible to think throughout her classes that morning. Sayaka couldn’t help her brain thinking through twenty different scenarios at a time, trying to logic Kirari’s definite win against Ririka to quiet her brain down until later. I can’t be nervous for her! I have to trust in the president’s absolute power.

When lunch finally came around, she walked in on the President having a quiet conversation with Runa, who was probably to be the election match representative this time. Runa stood up quickly and pushed in her chair upon noticing Sayaka in the doorway.

“I think that settles it then!” Runa cheerfully says while starting to walk out, “I’ll see you later then, Kirari. Nice to see you as well, Sayaka!”

As the door closes, Sayaka relaxes a bit and settles into a seat next to the president.

“What was all that about?” Sayaka shyly asks while getting her work and planner out, “And how are you feeling?”

“Just the agreed on rules and limits for the gamble today.” Kirari sighs and puts her head in her hands. “If I’m being honest I’m actually a little stressed. Ririka is the perfect opponent, being my twin sister and all.” Sayaka puts a  hand on Kirari’s shoulder.

“You’re going to win and stay the president, I know it.” Sayaka gleams passionately at the President. Kirari looks up and smiles, grabbing the hand off of her shoulder and holding it in her own.

“I appreciate your confidence, Sayaka.” Kirari releases a massive sigh to get rid of any lasting nervousness, and focuses instead on the subject before her. I need to think in the moment.

“How are you feeling today, love?” Kirari smiles sweetly at Sayaka, who didn’t expect to be in the spotlight so soon. Her blush comes into view with the word ‘love’, having not been called that before today.

“Wonderful, actually. I’m in a happy relationship now, and I get to see you gamble again.” It feels good to say these things out loud without stuttering through it. Sayaka a month ago would still be at a loss of words at just the question, but present day Sayaka was noticeably different . Sayaka sees that Kirari is even lightly flustered by her compliments; Kirari’s guard lowering just a little bit more for her.

They stare in silence at each other briefly before Sayaka takes the chance to kiss Kirari deeply this time. The president is quick to oblige, and they melt into each other’s arms more with each kiss, breaking apart only for Kirari to lay her head on Sayaka’s shoulder. Sayaka leans her own head close to Kirari’s in response.

“I’m going to destroy Ririka today, Sayaka. I hope you enjoy watching.” The returned confidence makes Sayaka absolutely glow with pride

    “I know.”

Notes:

I really love writing them being sweet girlfriends together. It's so good for the heart.
