Today is their first valentine’s day as a couple. They plan to have an early dinner just in time for band practice later.
“So where are we going for dinner later? Gyeoul asked.
“That’s for me to know, and for you to find out.” Jeong Won teased.
“Hmmp…” Gyeoul whined.
“Come on. We have a full day ahead.” Jeong Won said.
They went to an amusement park and just laughed their heart out. Acted like kids, rode the rides, got dizzy on a rollercoaster and won some carnival games.
“Ooh a basketball game. Let’s try this one. Win me a stuffed toy pleaaase!!!” Gyeoul said pleadingly.
“Arraseo.. please know I am not good at this.” Jeong Won countered.
“Yay! Don’t worry I’ll cheer for you!” Gyeoul said excitedly.
After several attempts, he was still unable to win a stuffed toy for her.
“Let me try.”Gyeoul said.
“Ani… just one more.” Jeong Won pleaded.
In that last attempt, he finally won. He asked her to pick a stuff toy, but was told that they can have two, seeing that they are a couple and it’s valentines day.
“Hmm.. I want the olaf one. For you the penguin.” Gyeoul exclaimed.
“Arraseo… we’ll have the olaf and penguin.” Jeong Won said.
By nightfall, they have rode all the rides, eat to their heart’s content, and laughed like little kids on a playdate.
“So did you enjoy? It’s a good thing this park is not packed.
“I did! I always wanted to go here but couldn’t find the time because of work.” Gyeoul answered him.
They left the park for their dinner reservation on the Han River Cruise.
During dinner they talked about everything and anything under the sun.
“The fireworks will be starting in a short while. You may now proceed to the upper deck for viewing” An announcement was made to the diners.
Gyeoul and Jeong Won headed up to the deck, holding hands.
When they have found a good spot, they waited for a few more minutes, when they suddenly heard loud bangs signaling the start of the fireworks display.
Gyeoul can’t help but be amazed at the display, while Jeong Won was just looking at her in awe, he was hugging Gyeoul from behind, putting his arms on her shoulder.
“Gyeoul-ah…” Jeong Won called.
“Hmm..” She only hummed in reply.
“Saranghae… all this time. I just wanted to be sure you feel the same way.” Jeong Won said.
Gyeoul turned to him in surprise, but all she saw was love and sincerity in his lover’s eyes, something that she learned that she can easily read.
“You don’t have to say it back now… I just wanted you to know…” Jeong Won continued, but was abruptly cut by the sudden hug from Gyeoul.
He can hear her sobbing quietly. That got him worried. He tipped her chin up so he can look at her.
“Hey. Are you okay?” Jeong Won asked worriedly.
“Ne…Sorry. Why am I even crying?!” Gyeoul said.
Jeong Won just hugged her tight this time but lasted short.
“Nado saranghae Oppa…” Gyeoul whispered.
Now it was Jeong Won’s turn to be surprise. But just like on that fateful Christmas night, he didn’t answer her with words, instead he captured her lips in his. As like every time they kissed, butterflies were in their stomachs and now fireworks also.
They pulled away after a few moments to catch their breaths and just hugged each other.
Their first valentine’s day was memorable for sure.
They hope that this will be the first of many valentine’s day together.
