Chapter Text
They said his musical talent was bestowed by God, so why was he so attracted to it?
Tucked away in a dark corner of the church sat a horned man. Clad in black and well hidden. His crimson eyes were focused on the guest performer, a violinist. He couldn't look away from the man. He was so infatuated, he followed him wherever he performed, even in a church.
He was willing to endure the pain just to listen to his music.
People declared the violinist an angel, for no human would have been able to play the way he did. Like God himself gave him his musical talents.
Of course, the demon knew better. That man was no real angel, he was very much human. But he couldn't disprove that God granted him his skills. Because somehow, he believed it. In his centuries of living, he had never seen such a musically talented man, so what else could it have been? And yet despite the possible connection to God, the demon was attracted to this man, he longed for him.
However, he knew he could never show himself, if the violinist saw him, he would be scared, disgusted. If he ever saw such an expression on his face, as a reaction to him no less, it'd break him.
That's why he stayed hidden for so long.
He has been hidden for years. The demon had been there since the start of his career, silently rooting for his success.
The pain blurred the demon's sight. The prolonged exposure to the church made his entire body feel like it was on fire. He gritted his teeth, his long nails digging into his own thighs to distract himself from the pain. He was determined to withstand the pain to watch the performance.
He felt his head spinning. 'Andrew, you have to get out of there' a little voice in his head told him. Unfortunately, Andrew was stubborn. Staying seated in his dark corner, he lost consciousness. He missed the end of the violinist's performance.
Once he came by, he wasn't in the church, nor anywhere else familiar. He squinted, trying to get his eyes adjusted to the dimly lit room. He could make out he wasn't in a strange or scary room, no... it was simply a bedroom. Someone had laid him in a bed; Andrew had no human acquaintances so who brought him here? His heart rate spiked, cold sweat running down his back. How did he get there?
Andrew shot up from the bed, which stirred someone he hadn't noticed, someone sleeping on the chair beside the bed.
The demon hastily tried to crawl off the bed, but he misplaced himself and tumbled right off the bed, landing on the floor with a loud thud.
"Oh-"
The man who was previously sleeping suddenly stood up, he was tall and... familiar, it was the man who he watched perform just before he passed out.
The violinist, who Andrew knew was named Antonio, took a few big steps and crouched down next to him, his large hands cupping his face.
Once again Andrew's heart rate went up, but this time for an entirely different reason, feeling his body grow hot the longer he stared at Antonio.
"Don't touch me!"
He quickly shoved him away and ran to the other side of the room, the bed in between them.
His legs felt weak, why was he here? Why did he touch him like that? Wasn't his hideous form already a punishment enough? Why did they have to meet face to face like this?
Numerous questions went through Andrew's head, he was so preoccupied that he didn't notice that the violinist had crept closer to him.
"I'm sorry... I probably should have woken you up. But you were so sound asleep, I didn't dare to disturb you."
Antonio moved slowly, his hands up in the air as if he was showing a frightened animal or child that he was friendly, that he meant no harm.
Andrew backed up against a wall, but Antonio kept taking tiny steps to close the gap.
"Can you please hold your distance..."
Andrew reached his arms out and pushed Antonio an arm's length away, he was too close... even touching him like this drove him over the edge, so he had to stay away.
Internally... he wanted to jump him like the beast he was. But he knew he couldn't do that.
He wasn't sure what Antonio's deal was, why would he bring a demon to his home?
"Why-"
"You're wondering why you're here?"
The raven-haired man rudely interrupted him, which earned a glare from the demon, his arms crossing in front of his chest.
His glare was deflected by a charming smile from the violinist. A smile so gorgeous it made the demon gulp.
"I saw your eyes... no, I have been seeing your eyes in the dark. I was beginning to think I was going insane, thank God I found you in the corner, that really makes me feel relieved."
Such an upbeat answer almost pissed Andrew off, he scowled. Was he being serious? What was with this guy... maybe he wasn't a man blessed by God after all. Someone like that wouldn't keep such a cool head realising a demon had been watching him, right?
Maybe... just maybe... he could stay with him for a while. He was very well aware he shouldn't, but the temptation got the better of him, especially now that Antonio clasped his hands around Andrew's hand. The warmth of this man's touch made the demon's heart flutter.
Antonio went on as if he didn't notice the gorgeous demon staring at him as if he was mad, they had only just 'met' but he wanted to spend more time with him, his looks so dazzling it bewitched him.
"You seemed in immense pain so I had to get you out of there... you seem a lot better now though.
Say, do you really enjoy my music that much?"
It was never good enough, Antonio was rarely satisfied with himself and his performances. To always see the glowing red eyes watching him play had become a comfort to him, when other people came and left again, those crimson eyes never left his side.
"Hm." The demon only nodded and made a low grunt in response, despite the dark, he could vaguely make out the red cheeks the demon had been sporting for quite a while now. How incredibly adorable.
"Then, let me give you a private concert. Here and now."
