Unfittingly Perfect

Chapter 7: So, Tell me, Is Taizi Dianxia Your First Love? Truly?

Chapter Text

[07] So, Tell me, Is Taizi Dianxia Your First Love? Truly?

Hua Cheng tried his best to stay calm.

He was just a meter distance from Taizi Dianxia.

Such blessing, such miracle.

It was the best moment in life.

Nothing will ruin it.

Even if he must endure dagger and insult from Manager Qi, it was all worth it.

Especially after seeing Qi Rong making a spectacle of himself by being a brat, well, let’s say he had only a little sympathy. In fact, Hua Cheng was afraid he’s going to chortle in mirth in front of his Male God Taizi Dianxia.

But he wouldn’t.

Of course, he wouldn’t.

Hua Cheng would be the perfect gentleman and the goodest bestest boy in front of his Male God. So, please invite him to another dinner. Pretty please.

As if Qi Rong could read his mind, Hua Cheng noticed his finger twitching with the desire to dump the whole Sichuan hot pot to his head.

Heh, with an almost imperceptible scoff Hua Cheng dared Qi Rong to try. Outwardly, he was still the goodest bestest boy with a polite smile and outstanding communication skill.

Bullshit, implied Qi Rong’s roll of eyes.

“Say, Hua Cheng,” Shi Qingxuan said. “You are a fan of our Xie Lian, right?”

“Ah, yes,” Hua Cheng answered nervously. “I have been Dianxia’s fan ever since I watched Wuyong.”

Shi Qingxuan lighted up at the mention of Wuyong. On the other side, Qi Rong choked on a spoonful of Sichuan broth. Hm, Hua Cheng felt a bit of sympathy at that. As for Taizi Dianxia, he was enjoying his food in such a peaceful expression without care, truly above mortals.

Wuyong was Taizi Dianxia’s debut drama. He was a teenager at that time, playing the role of The Crown Prince of Xian Le, hence the national nickname of Taizi Dianxia.

“You might not realize it, but I play in Wuyong too, you know?” Shi Qingxuan said with excitement. “I played as one of Taizi Dianxia’s close aides. I was so gallant and handsome,” She sighed.

“Of course I know,” Hua Cheng answered. Ms. Shi’s coming out had been hot news several years ago. Both of her accomplishment and scandal had been brought to light during those time. “You played the character really well.”

“Tell me, Mr. Hua,” Ms. Shi said, a suspiciously mischievous gleam shone on her eyes. “Which scene is your favorite?”

Hua Cheng pretended to think his answer. In fact, he knew which scene was his favorite. That one scene which changed his life.

“I like that one scene,” he said. “Where Taizi Dianxia, after losing the faith from their people, stood around his destroyed temple. That one moment before he embraced the fate of becoming God of Misfortune and became Wuyong. He looked so lonely I inadvertently want to follow him.”

Shi Qingxuan openly whistled. Taizi Dianxia looked bright and clapped cheerily. And strangely, Qi Rong looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole.

Huh?

“That’s really nice of you, Mr. Hua,” Taizi Dianxia said. Hua Cheng tried not to swoon like a man getting a blessing from his God. “That scene is really good, isn’t it? I thought so too. Qi Rong really played it well.”

Huh?

“It’s actually industry secret, but let me tell you,” Shi Qingxuan whispered conspiratorially, Qi Rong’s hissed warning went unheeded. “The Crown Prince of Xian Le is actually played by two people. Initially, Qi Rong was supposed to be the one who played it, but he felt ill halfway, and it was decided that Xie Lian should be his double body. They looked like twins when they were young, especially with make-up. Who would have thought—”

“Stop.” It was a normal volume voice, not a shout nor a venomous hiss. But it was cold enough to stop Shi Qingxuan’s gossip. “That’s enough, Qingxuan.”

Shi Qingxuan actually looked cowed. “Okay. Sorry,” she said.

Awkwardness desccended into the room. But it seemed that Taizi Dianxia couldn’t see it, or decided to ignore it, as he started to say, “Qi Rong, are you angry?”

“I am not, Cousin,” Qi Rong answered coldly. “Eat your food.”

Hua Cheng thought it was funny how Taizi Dianxia in an immediate reflex to Qi Rong’s words raised his chopsticks and reached for his food. Taizi Dianxia stopped halfway through, but before he could say a word, Qi Rong cut in.

“Xie Lian,” he sighed. “I am going to stay outside for a smoke. Take your time to enjoy the food and the companies.”

Thus Qi Rong finally succeeded escaping the disastrous dinner.

Could Hua Cheng now proceed to stew in the bomb Shi Qingxuan dropped? Apparently his first love was not even Taizi Dianxia Xie Lian. Apparently it was that snake incarnation of Taizi Dianxia’s manager that had just left the room.

Huh?

Well, fuck.
