Chapter Text
Hisashi and Toshinori were laying in bed together, legs entangled, when Toshinori broached the subject.
“I was thinking of giving Izuku One for All.” Hisashi blinked, and looked up at the tall blond man who was holding him. “What brought this on?”
Toshinori sighed. “I’ve technically been thinking of it for a long time. I just wanted to make sure I was thinking of him for the right reasons. I don’t want to give it to him because of how he’s my family.” Hisashi nodded. Nepotism was never a good thing for a hero to have, Endeavor. “But, after all these years, I’ve convinced that he’s the right choice. The quirk just seems to sing whenever it’s around him, you know?” Hisashi nodded again. One for All always seemed to have a mind of its very own. He turned his head to look up at Toshinori. “If you think he’s the right choice, then I won’t stop you.” Toshinori smiled down at him, and Hisashi had to turn his head away from the brightness of his face, before sobering quickly. “However, you have to spend the next ten months before the entrance exam training him. He needs to know how to handle the quirk, and his body needs to be prepared so that the quirk doesn’t kill him.” Toshinori nodded. “I’ve been working on a plan for training. I was thinking that he could assist in cleaning up Dagobah beach. You know, the one with all the junk on it?” Hisashi nodded. That did sound like a good idea. However…
“How do you make sure he doesn’t hurt himself? You know how he is.” Toshinori was silent, presumably in thought. “How about we ask Tokoyami-kun to help? Midoriya’s friend?” Hisashi pursed his lips. “You do know that we’ll have to tell him about One for All, right?”
“I know, and I intend to.” That threw Hisashi for a loop. Toshinori was always the user most concerned with keeping a secret. “I think… I think that having people outside of us who understand his struggle will help him more than keeping it a secret ever could. Besides, Tokoyami is good to him, and he’d figure it out eventually.”
Hisashi smiled. Toshinori was really rather clever when he wanted to be. “It’s decided. I’ll burn Aldera to the ground, and you take today off to talk to Izuku and Fumikage?” Toshinori nodded. “I can call Sakamata and ask him to cover my patrol for today. We have similar routes.” He wrapped his arms around the smaller man. “Now go to sleep. You have assholes to strike fear into tomorrow.”
They stayed like that until morning.
---
Hisashi couldn’t keep his leg from bouncing. He was sitting in front of the principal of Aldera: a short, pig-like man with an appalling smell, like he hadn’t showered in months. To his right were the Bakugous: Katsuki, Mitsuki, and Masaru. Little Katsuki was glaring at everyone around him, most of all the principal, an action Hisashi took note of.
“It’s so nice to meet you, Midoriya-san!” He was dragged out of his scoping of the territory by the principal, whose name he couldn't be bothered to remember. “I heard you wanted to talk about your son?”
Hisashi plastered a fake smile onto his face. “Yes. I hear he’s been being bullied by students and teachers here.” The principal flinched. It was a small flinch, barely noticeable to anyone else in the room, but Hisashi noticed, and he started to smile. “W-w-we-well, sir, I’m not aware of any bullying. How can I know that such actions are taking pla-”
“Shut it, old man.” That was unexpected. Hisashi turned his head to find Katsuki, his son’s first friend and main bullyer, standing from his chair and glaring at the principal. “You don’t know that Deku’s been bullied? Well let me clear it up. He has. And it’s my fault.” Mitsuki gasped, and Hisashi was, for the first time in a while, speechless. “I bullied the nerd for years. Yesterday I told him to kill himself.” Mitsuki shot up and smacked him upside the head, and Katsuki just took it, which shocked Hisashi even more. He rubbed the back of his head, turning to Hisashi and bowing to the still man.
“Uncle Hisashi? I’d-” He gulped. “For years I’ve been taking out my own fears and insecurities on Izuku Midoriya. I know I don’t deserve it, but I’d like to atone for my actions and make it up to your son, if you’d let me?”
It was completely silent. The principal was sweating bullets, Mitsuki and Masaru were staring at their son with complete shock written on every line of their faces, and Hisashi was staring down at the boy. To be fair, he wanted to tell the boy no, to ruin his life the way he ruined his son’s. However, every time he thought of it, he thought of his son, still trying to be friends with Katsuki, and how he still clearly cared for the explosive boy, and his mind was made up.
“Stand up, Katsuki.” The boy shakily rose to his feet, only to be pulled into a light hug by Hisashi. “If Izuku is willing to give you another chance, then I am willing too.” Katsuki exhaled, and wrapped his arms around Hisashi. “Thank you, Uncle Hisashi. I won’t let you down.” Hisashi chuckled, and turned to his parents, who were watching the display. Mitsuki nodded at him and muttered an, “Inko would be proud,” which did not make Hisashi’s heart soar, thank you very much, and Masaru gave Katsuki a sneaky thumbs-up.
Hisashi turned back to the principal, and gave one his trademark smiles. “Now, as for you…” The poor, poor, sick man shrieked and looked like he wanted to hide, but was trying to maintain his thin veneer of professionalism.
“You will provide me with security footage containing Izuku Midoriya from the day he set foot in your building. I will pull Izuku from your school, and we will be setting our legal team on you.” The principal laughed weakly. “What legal team?! You’re just a small analyst.”
This was it. His favorite part. Hisashi pulled out his ID and shoved it in the face of the man. “Hisashi Midoriya, quirk analyst for the top ten, consultant with Best Jeanist and Hawks, former detective, and close friend of All Might. Pleasure to meet you.” The principal went sheet white, and, with trembling hands, brought a flash drive out and pressed it into the desk. “T-t-th-this is t-th-the security footage from the past ten ye-years, sir…” Hisashi snatched it from the desk, and turned to leave the room, but Katsuki tugged on his sleeve.
He turned around to see his nephew staring at the principal. “I’m also droppin’ out. I’ll become a better hero than anything you fucks would make.” He turned to Hisashi, ignoring the shocked gasps of the principal. “Could I come to your place with you, sir? I wanted to talk to Izuku.” Hisashi looked at Mitsuku and Masaru, who nodded and smiled, before looking down at Katsuki. “Of course.”
They left Aldera and never looked back, Hisashi phoning Nezu on the way. He was going to have fun with this.
---
Toshinori had taken Izuku and Tokoyami to sit on the couch, deadly serious. He looked over the pair, gaze flickering over to Tenko and Kurogiri in the kitchen, before sighing. “What I am about to tell you is deadly serious. This is a secret I’ve kept for years, and I’m telling you because I believe I can trust you.” He looked at Tokoyami. “Izuku is already aware of what I am about to say. Can I trust you to keep this between us?” Tokoyami nodded solemnly. Toshinori opened his mouth, but was interrupted by the door swinging open.
Turning around, he met the eyes of one very surprised Bakugou Katsuki, and one incredibly smug Hisashi. He heard Izuku gasp, and his eyes flickered between the pair, blinking rapidly to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. The silence was broken when he heard a loud “what the fuck?!” from Dark Shadow.
Toshinori met the eyes of Hisashi, who smiled and said, “Izuku? Katsuki here has something to tell you.” Izuku stood and, slowly, shakily made his way over to the boy, who stared at him for a long moment, before bending in a perfect 90 degree angle.
“I’m so sorry Izuku.” The mentioned boy’s eyes were wide now, but Katsuki kept going. “I took out all my insecurities on you and made your life hell because I thought it would make my life better and you didn’t deserve any of that!” He took a deep breath. “I want to atone for what I did, if you’ll let me?” He stayed like that, only moving when Izuku hugged him and pulled him over to the couch, sitting down between him and Tokoyami, who looked extremely constipated.
“I’ll let you atone Kacchan, but all I want is to be a friend of yours again.” He looked at Toshinori. “I think we should tell him too.” Toshinori looked at Hisashi, who nodded at him. He sighed, closed his eyes, and was enveloped by smoke again. When the dust cleared, he heard the strangled gasps of the two boys, and he knew that he had assumed the form of All Might. He struck a pose and laughed out a hearty “I AM HERE!!”
Katsuki was pointing and gaping, and Dark Shadow was silently screaming in a corner somewhere. Izuku turned to look at All Might, and smacked him in the chest, causing him to slam back into his smaller form. “Enough of that. You’re scaring them.”
Hisashi was clearly trying incredibly hard not to laugh, and Katsuki finally found his words.
“What the fuck?”
---
It took a full hour, but Toshinori and Hisashi had explained their pasts, their quirks, and also how Toshinori wanted to give Izuku his quirk. The room was completely silent, before Katsuki looked at Izuku expectantly. “Well? You gonna accept or not, nerd?!”
Izuku continued to stare at Toshinori, before a determined grin spread on his face, and he nodded. “I’ll do it,” he said. “I’ll take it.”
Toshinori grinned, and Hisashi smiled. The number 1 hero reached behind him and pulled out a stack of papers that he had spent the morning making with Hisashi, Aizawa, and Tenko. It outlined Izuku’s entire day, from meals to exercise, to combat training with Aizawa and parkour training with Shirakumo, to the cleaning of Dagobah beach. Underneath that was a more toned copy for Tokoyami that cut some of the beach cleaning and parkour to make way for school. He heard from Hisashi that Katsuki had also withdrawn, so he would make a copy of Izuku’s workout for Katsuki.
He dumped all the papers in front of the boys, two of whom had gone pale, and the other one whose eyes had widened to the size of dinner plates.
“And here’s all the work you have to do to be ready!!”
The three of them groaned in unison.
---
It took ten whole months, incredibly hard work, several close calls involving falling off of buildings, and multiple gay panics from Fumikage and Dark Shadow as they got special close-up looks at Midoriya’s abs, but they finally finished cleaning the entirety of Dagobah beach, pushing past All Might’s expectations of them.
Now the three of them, tired, sweaty, and panting, were all standing in front of All Might. He was giving some speech about how good people put hard work in, but Fumikage was busy looking at Izuku, who was adorned with the most genuine smile he had seen on the boy in years. It seemed to light up the whole world, and Dark Shadow recoiled further into Fumikage with a huff, unable to materialize in the face of such brightness.
Engrossed as he was, he was surprised when the smile was replaced with a look of disgust. He followed the trail of Izuku’s eyes and found All Might standing with one strand of hair outstretched. One look at the frankly incredible look of revulsion on Katsuki’s face, and it wasn’t hard to figure out what was meant to happen.
He felt Dark Shadow shoot out into the world, and his shoes were suddenly stained with a shadowy substance that he came to learn was the creature vomiting.
He sighed. It was going to be an interesting year if this is how it starts.
