Chapter Text
Eijirou's mind was still stuck on his coming out from last night. He knew he should be fine, Mina had reacted well considering what could have happened. They were still friends that's what mattered. But he couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment.
He had gone to Mina hoping to finally talk to someone. Hoping to finally lift the weight on his chest he'd been carrying for five years. But now he felt worse than ever and he still didn't have anyone to talk to.
"Hey dude, you seem off," Mina said at lunch the following Monday, "is this about a vie night?" She asked a little bit quieter.
"Oh, it's nothing," Eijirou lied.
"Don't lie to me dude, I can tell when my manly man is down," she giggled, keeping the conversation light despite her slightly concerned look.
"I said it's fine, I'm just tired, I've been training harder than usual," that was true. With the recent attacks on the school and Bakugou's kidnapping, he wanted to be prepared.
"Hmm," Mina thought, she knew that wasn't the full story, but she didn't wanna pry. But at the same time, she didn't want Eijirou to be hiding something from her. "You know I accept you no matter what. If something on your mind you can tell me."
Part of Eijirou wanted to. She's your friend. She'll understand.
But what if she hates you for it? What if you're being too sensitive? What if you can't explain it to her? Eijirou decided it was best just to wait until it didn't bother him anymore. However long that may be.
He put on a fake smile and laughed along with the group's antics the rest of lunch until the bell finally came.
During class, Eijirou noticed a shiny silver ring on Aizawa's ring finger. Was he married? He has never mentioned having a spouse before. But the ring on his finger looked like a wedding ring. Should he ask him about it?
The silver ring stayed at the forefront of his mind for the rest of class. After class ended, to his surprise Aizawa approached him. "You've been thinking about something all day I can tell kid." Eijirou blushed, had he been that obvious? "You mind telling me what been keepin' your head up in the clouds all afternoon?"
"Well ah- I noticed your ring, and I was wondering, are you married?"
"Well it'd be quite silly of me to have a wedding ring if I wasn't married," Eijirou was frozen in shock. <span;>Aizawa was married.
"Why didn't you tell us? It's not very manly to keep secrets."
"It wasn't a secret, none of you asked to I didn't think to mention it," he shrugged. Eiji still could not believe Aizawa was married. He didn't even know the man was capable of love.
"Well, what her name?" Eijirou asked.
"His."
"What?" He didn't think he heard him correctly.
"What's his name. I'm married to a man."
Eijirou's heart stopped. Aizawa he was... he was... he was like him.
"You look like you've just seen a ghost," Aizawa chuckled amused at Eiji's shock.
"You-you're, you're"
"Gay?" Eiji nodded.
"Well I prefer not to label myself, but I am married to another man so that would make a little gay. That's not a problem is it?"
"No-no it's just, I- I- me too," it had just slipped out. He had never met a grown gay person.
"Well, I'm glad you could tell that," it sounded genuine. "I assume you haven't told anyone..."
"Well, I told Mina" he shrugged.
"And how did that go?"
"It went... well" Eijirou didn't want to get into it with Mr.Aizawa, he was just blowing things out of proportion.
"Did it go well?" Aizawa asked a knowing look across his face.
Eijirou didn't want to lie to his teacher. "Well, it just didn't go as well as I hoped" he admitted.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He did.
"Yea, it's just when I told her she just told me she doesn't care, and that no one cares anymore. And I know I'm probably overreacting. But it's just- I've been hiding this for years, and I don't know, I guess I expected more. Or just- I don't know" he sighed. He didn't know how to get the right words out.
"That's understandable. Sure there are worse ways to react, but there are better. It's okay to be disappointed and even angry. Not everyone chooses to come out, but for those who do it's important, and it's important people support you and understand your struggles. And keep in mind she is wrong. As much as it sucks, many people still care. I'm not gonna lie to you kid, you'll face homophobia, being gay isn't easy." He wasn't wrong. Eijirou had already been called a slur or two online, and he often heard Mineta's or his grandfather's homophobic rhetoric.
"If you want to talk to her about it, I'm sure she'd understand. I'm sure she meant well." Aizawa continued.
"I don't know," Eiji sighed, "I'm still figuring myself out, I mean I know I'm gay but I don't know anything else. I don't know if I can talk to people about being homophobic. Not that Mina's homophobic–" he tried to say but Aizawa cut him off.
"Every straight person has implicit biases towards LGBT people. But not wanting to explain it is valid. If I tried to explain that something was homophobic to someone every time they did something homophobic, I'd be so mentally drained I wouldn't be able to do anything else. But if you want I can talk to Mina about it myself."
Eijirou nodded, "yea thanks," he smiled as he started to walk out of class, "your manly Mr.Aizawa I'm sure your husband's a lucky guy," he smiled.
"He is," Aizawa smiled to himself. Eijirou heard the sound of footstep coming down the hall, and before he knew it Present Mic was in the doorway.
"Hey Babe," he smiled before noticing Eijirou's presence.
"Speaking of my husband..." Aizawa chuckled. Eijirou noticed the matching ring on Present Mics ring finger.
"So you finally told someone, that's awesome" Mic yelled a bright smile plastered on his face. Aizawa rolled his eyes glare at him. Eijirou however was still frozen.
"Wait, Aizawa... you're- you and Mic you're- Mic you're-" the two laughed and Eijirou almost fainted.
Ochako felt bad. Kind of. Bakugou had needed a verbal smack-down for God knows how long. She didn't take back most of what she said. Most. Bakugou had no business bringing Deku into things. But she probably shouldn't have mentioned the gay thing.
It's not that Ochako didn't have her suspicions about Bakugou's sexuality, but he was clearly going through enough of a crisis about it, and she probably shouldn't have brought it up.
Part of her wanted to apologize. Another part of her wanted to yell at him more for being a jerk to Deku and all of class 1a, and the rest of the world.
But Ochako wouldn't be able to do either because Bakugou was avoiding her like the plague. Earlier that morning she had tried to ask Bakugou a homework question and he just glared at her with his crimson red eyes. They were pretty scary when directed at you. And today they were locked on her.
Of course, Bakugou's plans of just glaring at her all day had been thwarted when the two had been paired up for an English project.
The two were supposed to read Catcher in the Rye and make a book report on it. It shouldn't have been a difficult project. Except Bakugou refused to talk to her.
"Okay, so what's our plan?" She asked, but Bakugou just huffed and looked away. "Bakugou. I get it you're mad at me, but we have to this project, so if you would just–"
"Shut the fuck up pink cheeks," we'll at least he finally talked.
"Bakugou please–"
"Are you stupid or something? I said shut up."
"Bakugou–"
"Shut. It."
"Bakugou, look I'm sorry about before, I am, but would you please be at least a little professional?

"Do I look like I care?"
"Well, you certainly will care when this attitude gets you fired."
"And your attitude is annoying the ever-loving shit out of me."
Ochako was done with Bakugou. She felt bad for bringing up the gay thing, but he was just being and a dose bag. And Ochako had apologized. Bakugou had a right to be mad, but he had no right to be a bully.
"Is everything alright?" Aizawa asked, Ochako had almost forgotten that they were still in class and everyone could hear them.
"Yea we're fine," Bakugou growled.
"You don't sound fine. Uraraka are you two having troubles?"
Uraraka didn't want to lie, but she also didn't want Mr.Aizawa to get into their discourse.
"We're fine Bakugou's just being difficult."
"Let's talk outside," Aizawa said rolling his eyes. He was starting to get tired of his kids
Katsuki was probably overreacting. Okay, he was overreacting. It wasn't a big deal, but for some reason he just angry and he was taking it out on round face.
"Do you two what to tell me what's going on?" Aizawa asked in that stern teacher voice. Katsuki did not want to explain what was going on, but Aizawa wouldn't like that answer.
"Bakugou won't talk to me," Uraraka spat.
"I'm talking just fine Pink cheeks," he yelled. Aizawa sighed exasperated, he looked so tired Katsuki didn't know if he should laugh or find the guy a bed.
"Clearly your not, Uraraka mind explaining to me what's going on?"
"I and Bakugou got into a fight, and now he won't talk to me," she said exasperatedly.
"Is that true?" Aizawa asks to look over at Katsuki who reluctantly nodded. "What were you two fighting about?" Neither of them answered. "Well if you won't tell me what you two were fighting about I can't help you, so either work it out amongst yourselves or talk to me." They both stayed quiet, Katsuki glaring daggers at Uraraka. Aizawa sighed, "so you took the former, I'll leave you out here until you're ready to work together." And with that, he left.
"Bakugou look," Uraraka started, "I get that you're going through something–"
"I'm not–"
"But you're being an ass," she continued ignoring Katsuki, "whatever is going on with you, I have nothing to do with it, I said I wouldn't tell anyone, and I didn't, so if you would just stop being difficult."
She was right. Katsuki was being difficult. But he wasn't going to admit that. If there was one thing he hated, it was losing. "I'm not being difficult."
"Yes. You. Are," Uraraka's voice was stern, it kind of reminded Katsuki of when Inko was mad at Deku. It wasn't like his mom, there was no yelling, just one stern voice that set off all your fight or flight response.
Katsuki just looked away glaring away from her.
"Bakugou please, if you want to talk about it I'll listen, but right now you're being difficult, and I just want to get this project done–"
"Do you really think I'm gay?" The question was sudden, Katsuki didn't know why he had asked it, his body just did it on its own.
"What?"
"You heard the question."
"Bakugou..." she paused trying to find the right words.
"So you do."
Uraraka just sighed, "You've been getting really defensive about, I just can't help but think–"
"I think your right." Uraraka didn't know what to say to that. Katsuki didn't know why he said it.
"Bakugou–"
"It's not a big deal, I doubt you care–"
"Bakugou if you are gay, I'll accept you, and so will the rest of class 1a" the except for Minta was left unsaid.
"I don't even know if I am."
"If you aren't that's fine too.... truce?"
"Truce" Katsuki sighed. They walked back into class leaving the conversation outside.
