5(ish) Worlds Where Logan Echolls isn't Logan Echolls (Sort of)

Chapter 9: Dick Casabacca III (III)

Notes:

So, I decided to dip my toe back into the VM Fanfiction waters with this very short and not exactly polished entry for LV AU Week 2021's Day 4 prompt.

I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter Text

Dik did not like Station 15.

Mostly because Dik was not allowed to leave the ship when his human docked at Station 15.

“I’m sorry buddy.” His human would say, “Station 15’s not really dog friendly. It’s too dangerous.”

Dik’s human realize that’s exactly why Dik needed to come with him? That Dik needed to be with his human. To protect him?

Dik would make the sad face. Then he would make the sad sound and his human would made the sad face and give him extra scratches and when he came back to the ship, he would bring Dik a chew chew thing, or a ball or sometimes, if Dik made a really sad sound, a bone.

But Dik still didn’t like Station 15.

But now Dik’s human was gone. When his human had needed Dik the most he hadn’t been there. Now it was just the Dik and the small blonde human. And sometimes one of the small blonde human’s friends without top fur

Dik had thought the small blonde human would be smarter than to tell Dik to stay when she docked at Station 15.  After all she had seen what happened when Dik wasn’t there.

She was not.

“I’m sorry boy, Lag would kill me if something happened to you.” The small blonde human had said. Dik had given the small blonde human the sad face. And the sad sound. But she had just given Dik a sad face back.

“I know, I miss him too.” She had said, and Dik gave the even sadder sound and the small blonde human had given him an extra pet pet. “But maybe, if things work out here, we’ll be a bit closer to getting him back?”

Dik had rubbed his head against her leg and made the whine sound and the small blond human had given him scratches. But she had still told him to stay and gone through the air lock without him.

Dik had said for a few minutes, hoping the small blond human would realize her mistake and come back.

Dik did not know how long he sat there, all alone on the ship. It had to be a long time. Maybe even an hour.

Finally, Dik gave a ruff in disgust and decided to go to his second favorite place on the ship --- after the food place.

His human’s room.

Dik’s human’s room smelled more of the small blond human now than it did of Dik’s human, but Dik still felt better there than anyplace else on the ship. Other than the food place. Dik jumped up on his human’s bunk. Dik chased his tail three time, just as he knew Dik should, then curled up on top.

He rubbed his backside on the side of the part of the bed that smelled the most like the small blonde human.

Then he fell asleep.

Notes:

The name Logan comes from the surname Logan which (according to one interpretation of its origins) comes from lagan which in turn is a diminutive of lag meaning hollow.
