After she sent a message to Jeongwon, Gyeoul is now preparing the cake on the table. She also take out the numbered candles and delicately put it on top of the cake.
After ensuring that all the food were properly served she proceeded cleaning the kitchen counter and wash all the pots, plates and utensils she used.
She figured that she still have more time to wait, considering Jeongwon still not answering back her message she decided to prepare the spare room just in case Jeongwon decided to stay for the night. She took out new beddings and pillow case for Jeongwon to use.
30 mins had past and she heard a notification on her phone indicating that someone messaged her.
"Oh! It must be Ahn Gyusonim"
She almost jump out of the bed she's preparing and giddily walks toward the dining table where her phone is.
But her excitement and smiles all fade away when she read Jeongwon's text:
From: My Gyusonim ❤️
"Otteokaji? Mianhe Gyeoul-ah, jinja mianhe. I mean to text you earlier that I won't make to tonight but I totally forgot after I got a call for my last patient I needed to operate this afternoon. I already finished the operation buy it is Dr. Bae Joonhee's last day in Yulje and the staff is having a send-off party for her. They invited me and I can't really say no. It's OK right? We still have a lot of time to spend our whole weekend together right? I can't wait! ❤️ Rest for today love, I will see you tomorrow!"
She read the text over and over trying to understand what it means and she always goes back to the conclusion that Ahn Jeongwon will not be coming tonight.
Of course the first reaction was disappointment but never angry with her Prof/Bf. She's trying to understand her boyfriend POV, but she's still disappointed but again not mad-- at least this is what she wants to believe. She's disappointed because although they have a lot of time to spend together in the future, a day like today won't be coming anymore. Because unlike anniversaries, 100th day is only celebrated once in a relationship. She tried to think a thousand of reason why she have to be there and not by her side. And she's also trying to understand her Bf reasoning in the text message.
"He's still the Ahn Jeongwon that I know after all, the Ahn Jeongwon that I liked, a person who cannot resist an invitation, except mine. Well, he doesn't know it is our 100th day and that I prepared this for us. He'll be here if he knows. For now let's understand that this is the Jeongwon you liked in the first place."
To: My Gyusonim ❤️
"OK" - - sent
She's looking at the text she just sent and it looks like cold and distant. So she decided to follow up.
To: My Gyusonim ❤️
"Have fun with the ER staff, don't worry it's OK, I can use some sleep tonight. I am also tired. I also can't wait to see you!" - - sent
It's true that she's tired, but never mentioned that she got really exhausted with all the things she done for this surprise. But she thought that all her exhaustion will get paid off when she see Ahn Jeongwon eating her food with gusto. And when she said that she can't wait to see him, it means now and not tomorrow.
Gyeoul looked at all the food I the table and it looks like she needs to put all the dishes in the fridge again. On a positive note, at least she can have a proper meals for the next 3 days. It won't still go to waste.

"Good night, love"
"Hmmmm.. Looks like I'm going to have dinner alone" She took out the cutlery and proceeded to scoop some rice and jiggae in a bowl. She also set aside some side dishes she can eat tonight and put all the remaining food inside the fridge.
She may be disappointed but she will never lose her appetite.

"OK."
"Hmmmm?" Just that? Is she mad?
He decided to send another text immediately to say that's its ok if he will not join the ER Team and just go to her instead, when another text came.

"Have fun with the ER staff, don't worry it's OK, I can use some sleep tonight I am also tired. I also can't wait to see you!"
He was relieved to see her message. It seems like Gyeoul understands him. But he still feel very sorry for a sudden change of plan.

Jeongwon arrives at the restaurant and sees everyone is already having a feast. They are also having a round of farewell messages and best wishes for Dr. Bae.
"Gyusonim! Yeogiyo!" Nurse Huisu notices him standing awkwardly beside the counter.
"Ah yeh"
He sat on the nearest empty seat which is beside a male nurse.
"Gyusonim, thank you for coming" Dr. Bae welcomes him with a smile.
"No worries, it's your last day at Yulje so I think I really should join you guys here." He answered her back.
"By the way, why there are still few empty seats, are we expecting some more people to come?" Jeongwon continued.
"Neh Gyusonim, we invited some other fellows and residents in other department that Dr. Bae are also closed with." This time it's Nurse Huisu who answered.
"Ah ok"
Once settled, he took out his phone to send a message to Gyeoul.
To: My Resident ❤️
"I'm here at the restaurant now, Gyeoul-ah. Eat your dinner first before you go to sleep, ok? I bet your last meal was lunch"
After around 15 mins, he keeps on looking at his phone waiting for a reply. He barely touching the grilled meats in front of him and just sticking the chopstick back and forth onto his now cold rice.
"Why isn't she replying, is she already sleeping? I hope she really ate dinner before going to bed" Jeongwon murmured.
"Ahn Gyusonim, are you waiting for a call? Why are you not eating? Don't you like the food?" the male nurse beside him noticed that Ahn Jeongwon's mind was somewhere else.
"Ah it's nothing, you should eat! I'm just a slow eater, don't worry about me, I will catch up"
But instead of scooping some rice and biting some meat, he goes back checking his phone again. He really can't get off his mind that something is off.
During the dinner he sent a total of 10 messages to Gyeoul but nothing came back to him.

"All done!" Gyeoul is now wiping the sides of the sink as she finished cleaning up after she ate.
For the past hour, her phone was receiving a lot of notification of Jeongwon's messages and she even saw that he is sending some photos, but she is not opening it. If a read marked on his messages she will be obliged to reply which is the last thing she wants to do tonight. She hopes that the last message that she sent to him will be enough for him not to worry about this missed opportunity to be together today. Gyeoul really tries so hard to understand him so she thinks maybe an alone time can help her ease the disappointment. She wants him to believe that she is already sleeping.
But unfortunately, she really can't sleep, her mind has a lot of contradicting thoughts. One side of her mind saying that she should get angry and the other one saying that she should understand. Gyeoul just turn on the TV and put it on a shopping channel hoping that it can help her to sleep.
After sometime, she yawned and it is a cue for her to go to bed. She just hoped that all the disappointment and confusion will all go away somehow tomorrow so she can greet Jeongwon with fresh mind free from all anguish.

All people in the table was almost done eating when a group 4 of people came in the hospital.
Two residents from OB and nurses from other department came.
Minha was the last one to enter the restaurant and she was surprised and confused seeing Jeongwon seating at the table. She looked for her friend thinking that there might be a change of plan for both of them but it's seems like she is not around. She approached Jeongwon and occupied the empty seat next to him.
"Anyeonghaseyo Ahn Gyusonim!"
"Oh, Anyeonghaseyo Chu Minha songsaengnim" Jeongwon greeted back.
"Kundae Gyusonim, why are you here? where's Gyeoul? I thought you she will be with you tonight?"
"Ah yeh, we supposed to meet tonight but there's a sudden change of plan. She's at home and maybe already sleeping as she's not replying to my texts the past hours."
"So you mean she's alone in her apartment tonight?" her eyes is now throwing dagger at him.
"Oh, yes she said that it's OK, since she's also tired and will just sleep instead."
Minha grabbed the nearest glass and took a shot of soju before continuing. She was so annoyed of this clueless man in front of her.
"And you seriously believed that? Do you think she really just want to be alone and sleep tonight?"
Jeongwon is now worried, he didn't think that a shot of soju will cause Chu Minha speak banmal to him. He's now thinking that his hunch is all correct after all.
" Wae-- waeyo? I--i--is there any problem with Gyeoul? " he stuttered.
"Oh mianhe Gyusonim, I was just carried away. But the thing is, Gyeoul prepared some surprise for you tonight. Do you know that it is your 100th day today?"
"Mwoooooo?" Jeongwon is now turning red.
"Neh gyusonim, she even learned how to cook for the past days just to prepare for tonight"
She took out her phone from her pocket and showed him a picture that Gyeoul sent earlier.
"Look, she sent me this picture of the food she cooked for the both of you"
Without saying a word, he gathered all of his things and rush out of the restaurant. He immediately look for a taxi that will get him the fastest to Gyeoul's apartment. He looked at his watch and it is already 11:30pm. He needs to be in her place in less than 30 mins.
During the ride, he's mentally preparing himself for whatever treatment Gyeoul will welcome him. And he just hope that at least she's still awake. He seriously wants to choke himself to death of not being mindful for this kind of things in their relationship.

Gyeoul is now laying on her bed with closed eyes trying to sleep. She's slowly traveling to the dreamland when she faintly hearing someone is punching the password on her front door. She don't expect anyone to come tonight and the only persons who knows her password are her parents her brother and Jeongwon. And neither of them is expected to come.
She quickly get up from her bed and grab the golf club that she used specifically for self defense.
Gyeoul slowly opens the door and ready to attack the trespasser. Until she saw the panting and sweating Jeongwon at the front door. She did not say anything, Jeongwon is really the last person she wants to see that night.
Jeongwon either did not say anything and just go straight hugged her, his arms enclosing her waist. Gyeoul did not move an inch, not even answering the hug. And this answers her confusion if she's just disappointed or mad, she's mad at him.
"Mianhe Gyeoul-ah, jinja jinja mianhe. I heard from Minha. I didn't know that you made such an effort for today and I am really sorry." jeongwon loosen his hug to see her face this time.
"It's OK gyusonim, you don't have to worry about it really isn't a big deal, you can go home now it's already late" she just looking at him as cold as her name suggests.
"B--b--but we still have time, it's still our 100th day, you can seat down and I will prepare the table so we can eat."
"No! Really, I already ate earlier" now she's even more mad thinking about eating alone earlier.
"It's really OK Gyusonim, you can just go home tonight, I smelled smoke from grill on your clothes and I guess you already ate plenty of food from your dinner tonight. You might get indigestion if you still insist to eat my food. We can still have those tomorrow. It won't go to waste."
"Not at all! I didn't eat much at the dinner because my mind is wandering somewhere else. My mind is not in that place, it is in this place. So please.. Hmmm Gyeoul-ah" He's about to cry pleading for her food. While it's true that he really didn't ate much from that dinner, but he's also not that hungry. He just thinks he still have some space from his stomach to have her food, just trying to have damage control of the disaster he caused tonight.
" I'm really sorry that I ruined your surprise, I promise I will do anything to make it up to you" he's now crying and sobbing like a child lost and been found finally.
This makes Gyeoul soft. She really can't be mad at him that long. He's still hugging her when she tried to free herself when Jeongwon enclosed even tighter, trying not to let her go.
"Gyusonim, you have to let me go"
"Aniyo! Shiro! Gyeoul-ah" and yet this makes Jeongwon cry harder.
"You have to let me go, Gyusonim, I have to set up the table"
"Oh? Jinja?" and like a child given a candy to stop crying Jeongwon did stop whinning.
"But I still think we have to defer the meal for tomorrow, we are both not hungry for sure. Let me just take out the cake for us to share. I also have some wine we can have a glass before you go."
So as Gyeoul suggested, she set up again the table for the cake, took out the numbered candles and pour some wine.
Jeongwon on the other hand took out his lighter to light the candle. They are now both looking at the lighted cake and silently wishing for them to be together for as long they shall live.
"Gyeoul-ah I didn't really know what I did right in my life to deserve you. For all the cold demeanor and lies I given to you, I am really thankful that you still didn't give up on me and going to me that night of Christmas." he put he's hand on top of her free hand and intertwined there fingers.
Gyeoul on the other hand, put both of their intertwined hand on her cheeks trying to savor the warmth it gives.
"I am also thankful to you Gyusonim. I never imagine in my late 20s to find a love that I will fight for and will not give up on to. When I was I kid, I thought that falling in love is easy when you become an adult. But I was foolish, it didn't come until I met you. So I told myself that I should not really give up because I don't know when love will come to me again or if I ever fall in love ever again"
Jeongwon fall harder in her words. They are now lost in the moment. Their face slowly getting closer and closer together. Jeongwon hold the side of her neck and put his mouth on hers. They share a slow and passionate kiss that they don't know for how long.
Gyeoul broke the kiss when she noticed that the candle is almost gone.
"Gyusonim, we have to blow that candle now before it's all gone"
"Ow yes I totally forgot about that, let's blow it now. But before that let's make a wish."
The both closed their eyes and make a wish. Together they blew the candle and celebrated their 100th days at almost midnight of April 3rd.
"What did you wish, Gyusonim?"
"Hmmm do you really want to know?"
"Yes!"
"My wish is to stay here tonight and wake up next to you and start our day together the moment we opened our eyes. Can you fulfill that wish?"
Smooth Jeongwon, that was smooth. That's what he thought.
Gyeoul was shocked with the suggestion but she has a better idea to tease him.
" Sure! But you take the couch."
" Waeee Gyeoul-ah? are we still not good? Are you still mad at me? "
"Nope I'm not mad anymore. And we are now good. But you will still sleep on the couch."
"Araso, I will sleep on the couch then" Jeongwon is pouting cutely and Gyeoul can't help but pinch his both cheeks.
"I'm just kidding Ahn Jeongwon Gyusonim. We can sleep at my room. I also want to see you the moment I open my eyes in the morning"
Jeongwon put his close fist in front of his chest to celebrate his victory tonight.
"Let's sleep now? Gyeoul-ah? I promise I will just hug you"
" You can kiss me too if you'd like" Gyeoul teased him again.
"I think I will still do that even without you mentioning it"
And that night they both tucked themselves to sleep hugging and kissing each other until they are lost in dreamland.
