Chapter Text
The twigs cracked beneath his feet as he walked. The oppressive atmosphere of the woods bore down on him. The setting sun barely peaked through the trees anymore. Darkness would soon give way. The electric feeling of the woods around him clung to him. A constant humming of static seemed to permeate throughout the woods.
His face was solemn, but not unexpectedly so, given that he was walking to the place in which he intended to die.
The old and broken building sat in front of him. The place that potentially started it all. The old hospital.
Tim didn’t know for sure where he got exposed in the first place, but only when he first came to the hospital did he ever develop the habit of running off into the woods.
Regardless of the Operator’s influence, regardless of all that had happened to him, he still had issues even before that.
He entered the old building, his feet moving on autopilot as he walked to the place that used to be his old room.
It was still as much of a mess as it was before. The broken and clawed at walls taunted him.
His eyes searched around the room, remembering the time he brought Jay here. The time he told him the truth, one of the truths, at least, that he had been keeping hidden.
He could only justify it to himself so much. He wasn’t so much lying as he was withholding information, he’d tell himself. It wasn’t even as if the information was pertinent, he’d tell himself.
But it didn’t matter now what he had told himself, because all was said and done. Jay was gone. Alex was gone. Jessica would be okay.
Brian…
The minor guilt that he had previously been feeling suddenly engulfed him completely.
He wanted to cry. He wasn’t going to though. No time to pity himself. He made his decision before coming here, he wasn’t going to back out now.
He moved over to the corner of the room, sitting down on the floor with his back pressed against the wall.
He looked at the two items he was holding. One sat in each hand.
His pills.
And a gun.
He’d already tried the pill route before. In fact, he’d done so multiple times. Somehow, it never had the intended effect.
He carefully set the pill bottle down on the floor next to him.
He grasped the gun with both hands, looking at it.
It had to end this way. Alex even said so himself. It’s not as if Alex’s word is actually worth anything, but regardless, better safe than sorry.
No one else would get infected because of him. He’d make sure of it.
He knew there was no way to truly make amends, but somewhere, deep inside, he hoped it would count for something.
He shifted the gun to his right hand, holding it up to his head.
Tim was never a religious person, but some part of him hoped that maybe he’d see them all again someday.
Maybe he’d be able to say sorry to Brian.
With the press of the trigger a bang sounded out.
A flock of birds were sent into a flurry over the loud sound.
As they calmed down, Rosswood went silent. The static was silenced.
Everything is now fine.
