    Charles was trying. He was trying so damn hard.

    But the air was chilled now, he couldn’t feel it, but it was like the atoms of his spirit would always remember. That the winter time would elicit an ache in his bones, a pit of fire in his stomach and a fear so pronounced that it gripped his heart until spring. He didn’t really have any of those things anymore. And yet he was never more fooled that he still did have flesh and blood to shake, than when winter came to London.

    He can't let Edwin see him like this.

To Charles’s hands on Edwin’s face and his tongue in Edwin’s mouth and Edwin feeling drunk with it, bowled over with the sheer sensation of it all.
