Chapter Text

The curtains closed and the lights dimmed, Sakusa thought it was a shame that they were only allowed to play one song. He could get lost in those lyrics over and over again.

The rest of the concert seemed to fly by, no other vocals could possibly awaken such a feeling inside of him like Atsumu’s. Komori was constantly asking if he was okay, which he was, he just happened to be lost in a day dream.

Nekoma’s band was pretty good, although the lead singer Kenma was very different. Some of the bands who had been performing today would be competing in a competition in just a few weeks. Komori had offered Sakusa a ticket, which he politely declined. But, if he could become victim to that musical trance again he would reconsider the offer.

“Hey, come on.” Komori placed a purple lanyard around his neck and lead him by the wrist towards a door. After closer inspection, he realised they had somehow obtained backstage passes.

“What are you doing?” Sakusa barked, usually he wouldn’t allow himself to be dragged around, but something was telling him to go. Whether it was sleep deprivation or something other he didn’t know, all he knew is that he was headed backstage.

There were a few different booths and a smaller bar as they opened the door. It was mainly bands along with their friends and family, Sakusa couldn’t help but feel out of place. Sure he knew Atsumu and Osamu from college but it’s not as if they spoke everyday. They were more acquaintance’s.

“That was so cool, so cool! That guitar riff was awesome, you’re all really amazing I mean it!”

“Shut up idiot.”

“Why are you hyping up the enemy?”

“Enemy? Tsukishima you crack me up.” The blonde girl chuckled at him.

It seemed the Karasuno band had also managed to get their hands on back stage tickets. Probably because they were pretty well known, a lot of people were surprised to find out they weren’t performing tonight at such a popular concert.

And of course they had to be surrounding Inarizaki, the exact place Sakusa was headed.

“Hey Sakusa!” The blonde haired male called out for him, it sent shockwaves coursing throughout his body as he beckoned him over. However nervous he felt, he continued to walk towards the man he had developed his first genuine crush on.

“I’ll leave you too it.” Komori left his side, making his nervous jitters even more prominent. Sakusa attempted to keep up his grumpy facade on and not smile, but it was surprisingly hard.

“How ya doin! Everyone this is Sakusa from my business class.” The group nodded at his presence.

Just as Sakusa’s nervousness seemed to die down, Atsumu just had to place an arm around his shoulder. It was a platonic gesture, but now Sakusa’s hands were sweating profusely, his cheeks were a reddened hue which was luckily hidden by the dim lighting.

Sakusa wasn’t fluent in emotion, but right now he knew he was flustered. Never in his life had he felt so overwhelmed by the presence of a single man. He couldn’t tell if he wanted to flee from the arena or kiss his lips.

In the end he just settled on standing silently allowing this handsome male, who was most definitely his type, to lean on him and fiddle with his shirt playfully.

Sakusa, being the flustered mess he is right now, decided he needed somewhere to focus his attention. In the end his eyes honed in on the tray of blue tequila shots.

“Why are you so quiet?” Atsumu pinched his cheek in a playful manner before following Sakusa’s eyes to the alcohol shots.

“You want one?”

That was more of a rhetorical question, before he knew it the shot glass was raised to his lips and down his throat in an instant. The table cheered and downed more after him.

Atsumu leant him a smirk before handing him another one. This time he made the decision to down it. Although, if he carried on this would end up bad.

Sakusa generally avoided alcohol, he always feared the idea of damaging his liver. But one night couldn’t hurt? It was only two shots after all.

“Wanna see something cool?” Atsumu said after what was now his third shot.

“What?” Sakusa spoke more harshly than he had intended too.

Again, he found himself being lead around by the wrist accompanied by another outgoing extrovert. His social battery would be drained after this.

“The privilege’s of being backstage.” Atsumu spoke as they made their way onto a disco floor where a song had just finished. The DJ was talking to the audience through a booming mic, he was pretty sure the DJ was drunk.

“I love being in a band!” Atsumu smiled, the neon rainbow lights illuminating his features. It was oh so similar to the lighting of the stage. If Sakusa stared too long, he was certain he would fall into another trance.

Just then a slow song began playing. Deep red lights blanketed the couples on the dance floor as they embraced their lovers. There was an awkwardness as Atsumu and Sakusa found themselves trapped within a sea of lovers. Only one thing could be done, Atsumu was the one to initiate it.

“What are you-.” Sakusa was cut off by a firm pull of the waist.

“Sorry, that woman was about to crash into you.” Atsumu chuckled at his prominent awkwardness.

Sakusa didn’t like crowds, and right now he wanted to make it as obvious of possible so that hopefully Atsumu would find them a way out.

But alas, he found himself being pulled in closer. Atsumu’s hands remained around his waist, manoeuvring his body in slow circles around the dance floor.

“You’ve never danced before huh?” Atsumu mocked, referencing his stiffened body language. “Here I’ll teach you, you’ll need to know this stuff when you get yourself a partner.”

“I don’t think I will.” The black haired male snarked, grimacing as the blonde move his arms to position them around his neck.

“Hold me here.” Atsumu placed his hands on the arms around his neck. Once he was sure Sakusa was keep his hold there, he moved his arms back to his waist.

“Now what.” Sakusa lowered his head, partly to hide his blush and partly because he was beginning to feel tipsy. He had only had two shots but he knew full well he was a light weight.

“Patience.” Atsumu raised his hand to tilt Sakusa’s chin to face him. “Now like this, follow my lead.”

They moved slowly in circles, avoiding numerous couples. Sakusa tried to ignore the two who were blatantly making out in the centre of the pack. He swerved their bodies to avoid heading in that direction.

The pairs ‘slow dance’ turned into more of a stumbling mess. It was embarrassing, Atsumu was hysterically laughing, gaining the attention of many people on the dance floor.

“You are so bad at this!” He playfully nudged him.

But then, a butterfly affect.

One thing lead to another as Sakusa stumbled into a drunken lady. She then proceeded to fly forward into a waiter carrying those dammed blue tequila shots that had caused this whole mess. The blue liquid fell to floor, glass smashed everywhere. That poor woman and the young waiter continuously apologised to each other.

As much as Sakusa wanted to yell at Atsumu for being so careless he would rather conceal his presence. Atsumu promptly yanked Sakusa off the floor and fled back to the bar, bumping into various different people along the way.

“I hate you.” Sakusa snarked as he slumped down at the table.

“Kiyoomi Sakusa, you are a terrible dancer.”

With that, his lips wrinkled and his mouth opened. A smile graced his face as he let out laugh after laugh. Twice now, this handsome young man had enchanted his lips with a smile, a rare expression to settle on his face.

“I’ve never seen Sakusa laugh that way with many people before.” Komori glanced over at the laughing pair.

“They seem comfortable around each other.” Kita agreed, laying a drink in front of him.

The same waiter from earlier served them with a replenished tray of shots. His shirt was now stained with a splattered blue, he attempted to hide the mess with a tie. Sakusa couldn’t help but feel a slight guilt, yet he was still amused at the antics that had taken place moments ago.

Almost out of muscle memory, Sakusa raised the glass to his lips and swallowed the liquid in a gulp. Atsumu seemed shocked yet followed his lead.

This blue liquid would surely haunt his memories. Never again would he look at this light neon shade of blue the same. Hopefully he would never have to see it again after tonight.

As the pair downed more and more alcohol, intoxicating themselves with this addictive poison, everything became even more of a haze.

His vision was blurred to the point where he couldn’t stand without immediately stumbling. Time moved in slow motion as the toxins took hold of his senses

Luckily he hadn’t lost all of his inhibitions, because when Atsumu brushed a hand against his cheek he flinched backwards into another person.

“Sakusa we need to- are you drunk?” Komori laughed with both concern and amusement.

“I’m not that bad.” He said as he fell back onto the floor, his eyes meeting the hands of a clock.

An hour had passed, which consisted solely of chatting and taking shot after shot with his new found companion.

After a brief moment he was hoisted up off the floor by two familiar arms and bought to the back seat of a car.

Everything was a blur from then on. His sleepy, drunken gaze could only make out the road ahead and lights of lampposts. He felt every jolt of the car boom through his bones.

He was guided upstairs through yellowish halls with blue flooring until he found himself under the covers of an unknown bed. Atsumu was sound asleep next to him.

That seemed to snap some sense into him.

Another figure left the room which looked like Kita. If he wasn’t so drunk and immobilised, he would’ve killed him for putting him in this situation.

The blondes breath was so loud as he moved onto his side. Warm air trickled down his neck making the hairs on his neck stand up. His heart rate increased rapidly, thumping within his chest.

Even the air this man breathed made him lose his mind. No way was he getting a good nights sleep like this.

This would be so embarrassing come morning.
