Chapter Text

He entered the space between platforms 9 and 10, however he was still confused. Could he really pass through walls with this ticket?

As eager as he was to run through a wall he thought it would be best to see someone else do it first. So he went in search for any ‘wizardy looking people’ as he had said to his mum.

Eventually, he came across a blonde boy with a similar trolley. He had an owl, familiar books and he was just about sure he could make out a wand in there somewhere. Without thinking, he made his way over to the boy who was reading a book.

“Hello!” Shoyo greeted him with a smile.

The boy was visibly startled at his loud voice, jumping slightly causing his trolley to shake.

“Hey. Do I know you?” The blonde boy said, still avoiding eye contact.

“Nope, but I’m Shoyo Hinata and I was wandering how you get through that wall!” He pointed in the direction of the space between platforms 9 an 10.

At first Shoyo thought he had made some terrible mistake as the boy looked confused. But then his face changed.

“Oh you must be a first year, sorry. Did your parents not tell you?” The blonde boy stared back down at his book.

“Well, apparently my parents are called muggles, so I’m actually the first magical person in the family!” Shoyo spoke with a proud tone, but the blonde remained unimpressed.

“Cool, that makes sense. I’m a half blood. My mums a witch. Well, all you have to do is run straight at the wall.”

Shoyo fumbled with his fingers nervously, he still had half an hour until the gate closed, but he didn’t want to crash in front of a bunch of people.

“What’s your name?” Shoyo attempted to initiate conversation, he would run through the wall after seeing the other boy do it.

“Kenma, Kozume Kenma.” He stated nonchalantly.

“Kenma! Such a cool name!”

“Kenma!” Another, much taller male called out for him.

“Tetsuro.” Kenma stood and put the last of his belongings in a trolley.

“Who are you talking too?” The bed headed man asked, staring down intimidatingly at Shoyo.

“Just a first year, he’s nervous about the whole wall thing.”

Immediately Tetsuro’s facial expression softened and he patted Shoyo on the back encouragingly.

“You can do it! Everyones nervous on their first try!” He guided him over to the wall and placed two hands on his back. “I’ll give you a push, I’m Tetsuro Kuroo by the way.”

“Oh thank-.” The ginger was cut off by a firm push to the back aiming directly for the wall. He passed through it with ease, opening his eyes slowly.

A large sign read:
Platform 9¾.

Finally, he had made it.

He almost wanted to cheer with excitement, but remembered there were other people around him.

“Gwah!” He was shoved to the side by another student running at full speed through the wall. They both landed face first, belongings flung everywhere upon impact.

Of course embarrassment followed Shoyo everywhere, he couldn’t escape it.

The black haired male scoffed as he stood up, angrily chucking belongings back into his trolley.

“Dumbass! Did anybody ever tell you not to stand in front of the wall, tsk.”

That boy was much more intimidating than Tetsuro, probably due to his angry scowl and height. Yes, Shoyo would avoid that man at all costs.

“Sorry, let me help you!” He attempted to load the toppled items back into his trolley.

“Don’t touch!” The black haired male snarked before practically stomping away towards another train carriage. Now people were staring at Shoyo, like he had just broken the law or committed a murder.

“Shit.” The boy muttered to himself as he picked up the rest of his belongings.

Most train carriages were already full, he found himself sitting alone in an empty one. Well he wasn’t alone, but he may as well be.

There was an anxious looking blonde girl sat opposite him, usually Shoyo was good at making conversation, but today was an exception. He had no idea how to approach anybody he met.

“I know right! Hey! What are you two doing in our cart!” A scrawny boy barked, accompanied by his bald companion. They continued to glare. There was a woman with black hair and glasses who stood behind them looking rather annoyed.

“Sorry, we’ll be leaving now!” The blonde suddenly scurried away, Shoyo following behind. But they were stopped by the same grey haired male from Diagon alley.

“Stop scaring the first years Ryu and Yuu, it’s always you two.” He snarked.

“The cart doesn’t have your name on it.” Another man spoke, rolling his eyes at the pair.

“You can sit in there, It’s fine, ignore those two delinquents.” The grey haired male lent them that same soft smile, and so they sat. Accompanied by those two scowling males.

Everything was silent as the train began to move, that was until another male sat beside the blonde girl. He looked much older, in-fact everyone had their house robes apart from him and the blonde.

Shoyo opened one of the chocolate frogs he had bought, but what he was not expecting was for the frog to come to life and jump out of the window. He watched, eyes wide, as it was swept away. A loud laugh bought him out of his thoughts.

“Haha! Have you never seen one of those before? Are you a muggle or what?” Yuu snickered.

“Yuu.” The black haired woman silenced him.

“Um, well yeah, actually.” Shoyo rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and everyone’s attention was suddenly directed towards him.

“Woah! A first year and a muggle? That’s one combination, you must be absolutely clueless!” He paused to laugh, it was nice to have somebody else with so much energy aboard with him. It made him slightly more at ease.

“I’m Yuu Nishinoya, second year in Gryffindor.” He pointed at himself, then gestured for the others to introduce themselves.

“I’m Kiyoko Shimizu, third year in Gryffindor.”

“Ryūnosuke Tanaka, but you can just call me Ryu. I’m a second year, also in Gryffindor.”

“Azumane Asahi, third year in Gryffindor as well.” He reached over and they shook hands.

Then it was the blonde girls turn, she fiddled with her hair and spoke hurriedly.

“Hitoka Yachi, I’m a first year. I haven’t been sorted yet.”

“Shoyo Hinata, I’m a first year!” He spoke with excitement.

The tension in the room seemed to ease after introductions. Yuu showed off some flashy spells, most of which went wrong. However, Shoyo was in awe at all of them. Even the sparks that signified the spell completely failing made the boy uncontrollably excitable.

The older students took turns telling stories about classes and teachers they hated, antics that took place in dorms and how Christmas was amazing at Hogwarts.

Many people went home for Christmas, but Yuu recommend that Shoyo should stay and experience Hogwarts Christmas Eve. They had huge feasts, moving Christmas trees and thick snow that blanketed the castle.

Halloween sounded just as amazing. Now Shoyo was so excited he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. The more description he was given the more his minds eye could envision this mystical place.

However, Quidditch was what really sparked his interest. Yuu and Tanaka described it with passion in their eyes. Shoyo had always been the athletic type in school, Quidditch was definitely something he would be willing to participate in, more than willing. In that moment he was utterly inspired and intrigued by this new found sport.

When the train finally came to a halt it was already eight pm. He hadn’t expected it to take this long to arrive, however they were all the way up in Scotland allegedly.

As he stepped off the train he was introduced to an entirely new world. There was a castle far in the distance. It was situated on top of some large cliffs and surrounded by a wide lake. Mist surrounded the castle giving it an even more magical feel.

“First years this way!” A deep voice boomed, snapping Shoyo out of his trance.

“Good luck Shoyo!” Yuu called out before whispering in his ear. “If you don’t get into Gryffindor, I will kick your ass at Quidditch.”

They shared a laugh before their temporary departure.

Hitoka and Shoyo stuck close, seeing as they didn’t really know anybody else. Shoyo was glad and slightly relived to have made friends, for a while, he was worried he would be alone.

The journey just seemed to grow even more odd the more they ventured towards the castle.

The bearded man, who introduced himself as Hagrid, led them to the lake that Shoyo had so desperately wanted to see up close. Luckily for him, they got to venture across the lake in small boats.

Each boat contained three people, in his an unfamiliar boy sat next to him. A permanent smile seemed to be etched across his face. Also, he was tall, very tall. Why was everyone here so tall? With the exception of Hitoka and Yuu of course.

Shoyo so badly wanted to reach out and touch the water, brush his hand across it as the wooden boat accompanied them to the castle. As if he heard his thoughts, the green eyed male next to him ran his hand along the water. Shoyo swore he could make out the figure of a mermaid in there somewhere, it wouldn’t surprise him, it seemed anything was possible here.

They were lead up some large concrete steps that seemed endless before they finally entered the castle.

Warm, orange lighting encapsulated the halls. Everyone’s heads were tossing and turning in different directions taking in as much as they could of this new and exciting place.

A bunch of new students formed a crowd and eagerly awaited the sorting hat ceremony. Which Hitoka had to briefly explain seeing as Shoyo was clueless about it.

As the new first years waltzed the hallways towards the podium Shoyo averted his gaze from the floating candles and indoor night sky to professor McGonagall, who greeted him with a smile.

He was completely overwhelmed and absorbed in this mysterious hall. Everything about it was mesmerising, he hoped he felt this way every single time he got to grace these halls. He wanted this feeling of excitement to last the entire seven years he would spend here.

Professor McGonagall clapped her hands and promptly began the sorting ceremony.

“Lev Haiba.” She called out. The boy took a seat on the stall and a talking hat was placed on his head, taking Shoyo by surprise.

“Hmm I see, another Haiba, well then it must be in your blood! Ravenclaw!” The hat exclaimed, Lev’s shoulders sagged in relief as he made his way over to his houses table.

When the cheers died down, it was Yachi’s turn. She got sorted into Gryffindor.

One by one more and more people got called up, until there was only a handful of students left.

“Tobio Kageyama.” The Professor looked him dead in the eyes, as if he already knew who he was. Shoyo immediately recognised him, the intimidating boy from the train station whom he had vowed to avoid.

The hat didn’t even touch his head before ‘Gryffindor’ was loudly echoed throughout the halls.

His eyes followed the dark haired male to the Gryffindor table, until an oh so familiar name was called out.

“Shoyo Hinata.”

The boy jumped out of his skin at the sudden calling of his name. He almost tripped up the stairs out of a combination of nervousness and excitement.

“Ah!” The hat spat as it was situated on his head.

“Well this is interesting, very interesting. So many choices. A bold personality, outgoing at that. There’s a great talent within you, but which house will awaken it?”

The hat pondered for a moment, it seemed to take much longer than it did with anybody else. Shoyo and Tobio briefly made eye contact before the hat made its decision.

“Gryffindor!”

Notes:

For the purpose of this story everyone is slightly younger, but of course they will age as the years go on.

Ages at the moment:
The 1st years = 11-12
The 2nd years = 12-13
The 3rd years = 13-14

I wasn’t trying to match peoples houses based or personality or whatever, I was just doing what worked in favour of the story. I wish I could include everyone from the show lmao but that would be impossible. So it’s mainly just my favourites.

I will also be using the characters first names seeing as this is set in England, with the exception of teachers. Of course they’re still Asian I’m not about to change their race, but instead they just live in England.

The first few chapters will be set a year after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. (Sorry if I get any timings wrong).

So yes, the third years were first years during the deathly hallows. That kinda plays a big part in this story, but not so much yet.

Some things won’t be canon to the actual Harry Potter timeline seeing as I don’t know everything about it, I’m no expert.

There will be romance elements later on, but not yet seeing as the characters are really young.

That’s all, I’ll update if there are any other changes.

Hope you enjoy. :)
