Chapter Text
"Bye man." Sapnap said, hugging Dream, Karl was saying goodbye to George not to far from them.
"Call when you get back, yeah?" Dream asked and Sapnap nodded.
"I'll miss you, brother, take care, alright?"
"For you, I'll do anything~"
Sapnap rolled his eyes, "Smartass."
"Shorty." Dream smirked.
"I will kick you in the balls." Sapnap threatened.
"If you can reach." Dream chuckled.
"I love you, but I can still kick your knees out."
"I love ya too." Dream smiled and hugged Karl as he walked over.
"Keep Sap in line." Dream said and George walked over, linking arms with Dream after hugging Sapnap.
"Always." Karl smiled. "So George, you're actually leaving later?"
"6 hours." George said, looking at the clock, "Give or take."
"That sucks dude." Sapnap said.
"It's better this way, I think." George said, leaning into Dream, tearing up, "It's safer for him."
Dream let out a breath, "Go catch your flight."
"Right! Bye!" Karl waved and pulled Sapnap away who was waving.
Dream and George left the airport, knowing they'd be back in a few hours, both growing silent.
Nothing about this silence was comfortable, but it wasn't awkward.
It was like there was this itch, it was unscratchable, without a doubt.
That's what made it painful.
...
They arrived to the house and curled up on the couch, Patches with them, they had decided to watch a movie.
About halfway through, Dream attached his lips to George's, moving George to his lap, to straddle him.
George kissed back, of course, just enjoying the feeling of being in Dream's arms.
They had overcome a lot in these three months.
Dream pulled away and held eye contact with George, who stared at him with nothing but pure love.
"God, I love you." Dream whispered out.
"I love you as well Dream..."
*
Dream turned to George with a sigh.
George teared up, "Thank you for this, for uhm well, everything, spending time with you was the best thing that I could've done... I'm glad I agreed to come here."
Dream chuckled a little, "George, your life was in danger, and my father kidnapped me making it so I didn't want you to touch me.. however, I'm glad that you came too, I enjoy your company.. even if I feel like I wasn't enough."
"I will say it a hundred times, Dream, you're more than enough."
"I'll believe you one day."
Once they get to the luggage belt, Dream kisses George on the cheek, and watches the luggage move down the belt, as the luggage moved, so did they.
Towards the gate.
They stop right outside the gate and George stops, "One last selfie?"
Dream smiles softly, "Sure."
George holds up his phone and Dream closes his eyes, attaching his lips to George's cheek, allowing him to snap the photo.
George had a wide smile in the photo, but once Dream looked a him, the smile was gone.
"I'm really leaving.."
"Yeah.."
They go silent for a while.
The house would be quiet without George there to make Dream laugh, and his bed, would be cold. George was Dream's warmth and light, but they have done long distance 'friendship' for this long, so, they could probably make it still work.
"I'm not ready." Dream mumbled.
"Me either." George said, wiping the tears down his face."
"George, you know I would try if there was hope we could beat the world, right?"
"I know." George let out a staggered breath, "We never let anything get in our way.."
"Till now.." Dream teared up as well.
They put their foreheads together and George wiped Dream's tears.
"I should get back home for my stream.." Dream mumbled.
"I should go catch my flight." George said, painfully.
Dream leans in. Their last kiss. Dream stayed pressed to him because this is it. This is all they have to get them through the coming months where they can't hold hands or kiss or wake up next to each other. Dream wanted to pull away, but he was sucked back into George. It's not enough, and it'll never be enough, so Dream counts down in his head, five to zero, then pulls away.
"I'm about to walk away.." George says, glancing towards the gate. "I won't turn back to look once I leave, alright? B-but you need to leave when I do.." George voice cracked, "In case I do look.. I won't leave if you're still here."
"Okay, Georgie.." George steps back.
"I love you, Clay."
"I love you more George."
Their fingers unlock and that was it. George turned away, Dream always knew George was stronger than him. Each step that George took, cracked Dream's heart. How was he walking away so easily? Dream couldn't move, how could George ask this of him? He didn't get to just leave and ask the impossible of Dream.
Dream cursed under his breath, seeing George pause.
"Stay with me.." Dream mumbled, knowing George didn't hear it, he was too far.
Some part of Dream was hoping he could manifest George to stay, or hoping George would turn and run back, to kiss him again.
But nothing.
They were both stuck in imaginary concrete.
Dream flinched, hearing George's familiar ringtone going off, he watched as George let out a breath and put the phone to his ear.
Dream couldn't hear the conversation.
It lasted less than a minute, and George slipped his phone back into his pocket.
Dream raised a brow as George walked over to the service desk, watching the woman there talk into her walkie talkie, then Dream saw George wink at the woman who flushed.
George then walked over to the luggage belt and smiled at the woman there, getting his luggage bag back.
George then walked over to Dream and smiled up at him.
"What are you doing?" Dream asked.
George grabbed Dream's shirt collar and pulled him down into a kiss.
"I thought I told you to leave.." George mumbled and Dream smiled.
"I can't leave you Georgie, you're my everything."
George smiled, "Take me home?"
Dream picked George up, bridal style, having George carry his luggage still. "Anything for you love."
...
Dream set George down and Patches ran over, weaving between his legs.
"Look Patches," Dream started, "Dad's home."
George smiled and linked arms with Dream, leaning on his arm.
"Let's go stream, shall we?" George asked and Dream smiled.
"We shall."
